Magic is a curse. A plague upon the world and those that live in it. Those that are born with this curse unwittingly sap the mana from the earth they stand in. In order to prevent these abominations from draining away the world's lifeblood, they are locked away in a castle in an isolated dimension. It is in this castle that the cursed are to remain, removed from society so that their magic does not harm normal people. They are to be kept here for the rest of their miserable lives.

At least, that's the way it should have been...

Suddenly, a loud crash is heard. A young girl, kept apart from the rest of the castle, looks up from the ground. The magical barrier that prevented her escape slowly dissipates. Standing up, she pushes open the gate and finds her first taste of freedom. Guide her as she teams up with a renegade mage boy to search for the truth behind the castle, her unique magic, and a way to escape.

This was a delightful play. I really liked the magic system.

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it ^____^
~In case you guys didn't notice...
The starting ppsition of the current download is set to the debug map. You guys might want to check on that ;)

The game is really nice. I haven't finished it yet, but it's definitely coming along.
Good job!

*Slams head on desk*

I got so nervous about uploading it I forgot one of the most BASIC things!

Alright, I'm updating it now...

EDIT: Thanks for the comment, though! I'm glad you're enjoying it, regardless of my stupidity!

Oh. Uh, I haven't looked at this yet. Er, I hope you guys won't mind too much if I take my copy, go into the editor, and set it myself (based on the the teleporter in the Debug Room)? I mean, I don't mind downloading this again, but, for such a simple fix, and the fact that this isn't encrypted...

Sure thing. Go ahead and do it.

For everyone else: To fix it, go into the editor, and move the character into the INTRO map. It should be under the map group Tu01. It should be just a black map. Then change the transparency to ON in the Database.

So, I'm gotten past the Prison of Flesh with this playthrough (Nice bridge-puzzle, by the way). The one thing I feel like I'm missing out on so far is the new Innate abilities. I could almost swear that the ones I'm seeing (I'm at level 7, by the way) are the exact same as the ones I saw for the event-build. Unless I get the new ones at higher levels? Could be.

Total aside: Kinda still expecting a reference to Gaspar with this build.

If you're at Level 7, then you have the new Innate Spells.

The new spells are (hidden for those that want a complete spoiler-free run):

Status Stab for Celesta, and Vigor Aegis for Melchior.

Huh. I could almost swear the effects those skills caused were there before. Meh, not worried about it. I'm worried about something else, though. Hide-tag-tech GOOOOOO!

So, what's with the huge difficulty spike after Melchior gets kidnapped? I seem to recall some commentary regarding Celesta during this sequence, but, and call me crazy, I kinda liked how she she could practically hold her own. I dunno. The experience made me think that I should have taken the opportunity to grind for levels while Melchior was still in the party, maybe be able to survive a bit better against these guys. Though, against the four-member troops, yeah, that is not happening.

The Sentinel seems more than a bit harder than I recall as well. I expected a long battle of attrition, but, the guy just pulls out the board-wipes faster and harder than I can reliably heal. Again, my thoughts turn to, "Damn, maybe I really should have ground out a few levels before Melchior got kidnapped!" I dunno. That was the impression the game was giving me, and I'm pretty sure that's not the direction it wanted to go in.

Hidden response tags GOOOOO!

The difficulty is there to reinforce how helpless you are alone. It's to really get you to want to find Melchior.

If you need to grind, the Hub area is the place to do it. After you find melchior.

Although, if a lot of people are having trouble with the last boss, we'd like to hear about it. I tried to keep things fair, but there's always the possibility that I made the last boss too difficult.
I'm looking forward to this, and will try to write a review. :)
Finished the game and wrote a review. :)

You guys made a really atmospheric game with a high fun factor. I'm glad I played it.

Will there be any other future versions?

I can't wait to read your review. Thanks for the praise!

As for future version: Probably not. At least not to the extent that we did for the Deluxe version. Any future updates will most likely be just stamping out any bugs that players report.
I see. Well, no major bugs to speak of here.

I look forward to other games you guys might make in the future! Got anything planned?

Right now, unity and I are at work on our own games. You should definitely check them out.

Here's mine.

And here's unity's.

And here's a collab game that unity is heading up.

Interestingly enough, we're testers for each others projects. So, in a way, we're working on them together.

I'm not 100% sure on what Sooz is up to, so I can't speak for her.

Sooz also has a game in the works, but it's still in the early stages ^_^ I'll let her elaborate if she wants :D

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

Sooz is an idiot and wants to make a game with 100% self-made tilesets, so that's going to be a long time coming.

Meanwhile I collaborate with Uni a fair amount so you'll probably see some more of my work in her stuff. :D
It certainly takes a long time for reviews to post!

I found myself actually telling friends how fun the battle system was in this game. That's pretty rare for me!
