Plot Overview

In the world of Linguardia, the nations of Rikalia and Dorent are the reigning powers. Although both leaders have been at peace for centuries, a dark cloud is on the horizon. King Richard, leader of the Rikalian Empire, has recently lost his wife and daughter to a pack of demons. Now, his mind twisted from grief, Richard is on a quest for domination. His plan: to harness the power of the six legendary crystals, which, according to scriptures, will bestow the wielder with unimaginable powers if brought together. With Richard on a path of destruction to collect the crystals, war seems inevitable.

Players take control of Epoch Lander, Captain of Richard's Dragon Knights, an elite force within the Rikalian Empire. However, when Epoch begins questioning the morals behind Richard's actions, he is arrested for treason and sentenced to death. With his head full of unanswered questions, Epoch must decide whether to accept his fate or fight for what he believes to be the greater good: even if it means fighting alone.

Soundtrack Complete!

Jose has just finished the last two songs of the soundtrack, bringing the OST to a grand total of 36 songs. With those final two, the Forever's End soundtrack is now complete! I really have to thank Jose for all the hard work he put into these songs. They all sound fantastic, and I can't wait to release the next episode with them implemented. Great job, bro!

Do know though, there are a few songs that will be included with the game that aren't custom. Not many, but a few, mainly because some of my cutscenes were already built around these songs. However, all of the ones included on this gamepage are the custom ones composed by Jose.

With the soundtrack complete, I thought I'd list out a few of my personal favorites. If you have any favorites, please comment and show Jose some love.

Traveling - Overworld Theme

The Reprieve

Dangerous Wilderness

The Death Knight - Marcellus' Theme

Spiritualization

Journeying Forward

If I had to guess, I'd say it was related to the hack you used to make RM2k3 play .oggs. It's something to investigate if nothing else.

I'm not sure what the cause of the problem is. My machine is 64-bit Windows 7. Could it be a problem with 64-bit machines? You might consider making a blog post to poll people who experience lag and ask for their system specs to see if you can find a pattern.

EDIT: Also, I did install the font.

I've got a 64-bit Windows too but with no lag. My computer is only a year old though.
I've seen this problem happen on many games before. And it seems to be PowerMode's fault all the time. Get rid of it. =P

That's the thing though. I did get rid of it! It appeared to be what was causing the sound bug as well so I ditched it for some of Cherry's stuff.

I'm pretty sure that Power Mode was what was playing the .ogg files (which I don't use anymore, although some of my songs have the .ogg at the end). I don't get it!!

Copied from My Computer... lol. :)

Well, my com had almost the same specs as yours (though mine was 1GB RAM and is Windows XP) and I have no issues with the game (that may also be because I play it in full screen which is less laggy than 640x480 windowed mode). There is slowness in some areas of the game though, even in full screen. I have never played any RPG Maker games in windowed mode because it is incredibly laggy for me.

It seems like you do not know how huge the difference is between 256 MB RAM and 1GB RAM. That's a hell lot! You can play dragon age with 1 GB RAM! With my PC, you can only dream to play such a game! :((

Edit* What's the difference between windowed and full-screen? I play full-screen all the time, sometimes windowed, but there's really no difference.
@frosterntity: I do know the diff, but the point I'm addressing is that there are people with 1GB RAM and still lag. I believe Sailerius's computer is definitely at least 2GB RAM, because he runs on Windows 7 64-bit edition, which requires minimum 2GB RAM to run, and yet he stated he suffers from lag. I, however, do not lag bad with 1 GB RAM. So RAM probably has nothing to do with the game's lag, I should say.

As for resolutions, different coms differ, but if you play on a smaller resolution, the lag will be less apparent, because on full screen in an RPG Maker 2k/2k3 game, the resolution switches to 320x240.
@eplipswich: I said what I said because you compared your PC to mine. Not to mention, you do not know how much the difference is between 250MB RAM and 1GB RAM. At least, that's how I viewed you when you said,"Well, my com had almost the same specs as yours (though mine was 1GB RAM and is Windows XP) and I have no issues with the game (that may also be because I play it in full screen which is less laggy than 640x480 windowed mode)."

I don't think this is what caused the game to lag...
Set it to the one below real-time, real-time tends to screw everything up

Set the process for RPG_RT.exe to real-time? I don't get what you mean. If you meant setting the process for RPG_RT.exe to real-time... tried that before and it doesn't work. I guess this means my Desktop PC is utter crap.

2k3 is simply a really old, really bad program. That's all there is to it - it's ancient and unreliable.

Dude, chill out. Just because not everyone uses the "almighty" VX for every crappy creation that comes to mind, doesn't mean everyone else has to as well. Plus, most of the better games made on here are made with 2K3, with very few problems if any.

I honestly don't know where the lag is coming from with people, but I had this game running on 2 different PC's (one at least 6 years old with XP, the other very new with 7) and never had lag issues. I have had lag with other games on the old PC, but that was mostly due to the condition of the computer. I usually play in full screen, but windowed works just as well. Hopefully Nico can figure out what the issue is, because (at least without the lag) the game is very enjoyable. It's a change of pace from the generic stuff that I usually see on here (I've played TONS of games from this site, and I know for a fact that this is one of the better ones).

Sit tight, you'll be glad you did!
@F-G: Ok, will try it out if I ever encounter lag problem with a game. :)
@Craze: I think NicoB is using Cherry's Version of 2k3, which isn't the original 2k3. I guess issues are to be expected when you're using a software that is still in the testing stages.
The game lagged for me at some points, but the problem fixed itself eventually. I just figured it's my computer running too many tasks at once. The lag was nowhere near as bad as it was in some RMXP games I've played (Vacant Sky especially).
@Eliminator: Good for you... :( It took me quite a while to finish this game, because of the lag. As for Vacant Sky, I never knew there were lag problems. Played through it with my shitty computer, and it runs quite smoothly. Haven't reach Act III yet though... I'm kinda busy with stuff lately. :(

That's not lag, it's the default framerate of RMXP

So I just played the latest version beyond where I left off in my LT last year. The game gets CONSIDERABLY better, and I am actually very impressed. The only thing I'm going to take off major points for is the fact that you don't bill it as the PSX Hero's Realm (which is exactly what it is...no offense, but virtually nothing is original). I will be writing a review when I'm done with this demo, and I can assure you: it won't be an elitist .5-star outing. I am more baffled than ever.

I'm not exactly sure I understand this statement.
