Hello! This will be my first ever release of a full game. I'm using eventing that is relatively complex for someone of my level, so I am in need of TESTERS! Testers to ensure that my game has working scenes, is bug free, and has correctly working fonts!

This is also an entry for the 2014 Indie Game Development Contest!
http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/game/view/id/138#.U6uzCPldUkQ
Please support it!

The game is short, but I'm hoping that you'll find it very sweet! Please enjoy!

The Story

Upon death in the world of Charon's Sabbath, souls leave behind their physical bodies, immediately venture to the spiritual realm, and fuse with a sentient cluster of spiritual energy, called the Soulmother. However, when the Soulmother is suddenly dormant, the souls of the dead have nowhere to go and are left behind in the world of the living, unable to find peace, becoming lost.

These lost souls are completely cut off from interacting with the living. The boundary between the dead and the living is so extreme, the dead will perceive any spoken, written, or non-verbal language of the living as unintelligible. Lost souls are doomed to continuously relive their death through their memory. The vast majority of them descend to wrathful madness and insatiable hunger due to this hellish fate.

You play as Munica, the soul of a young girl, tasked by the weak Soulmother to gather the last of the lost souls that have yet to be tainted and help them find peace.

Sever the never-ending cycle of suffering, and realize salvation.

Features

12 souls to save!
A lovable protagonist!
Quality parallax mapping!
A non-combat RPG!
2 different endings!
A soundtrack to fall in love to!
An alternative alphabet!
And more!

The ending is dependent on how many souls you successfully save by the time you turn in to the Soulmother. You can reach both endings without having to gather all 12 souls. (The Soulmother tells you that you can turn in as long as it is night time.) Saving 0 to 10 souls will get you to one ending. Saving 11 or all 12 souls will get you the other ending.

how short is it?

Between 30 minutes to an hour. Depending on how fast you work.

Given the file size you could host it here on RMN, anything less than 400mb is accepted. I'll grab a copy and give it a go, and good luck with the contest.
Hello your game looks really cool but remember the rule number 7 of the contest
"All files required to play the game must be included in the download. This includes graphics (such as RPG Maker’s RTP), music files, read-mes, and so forth" if you don't have the RTP that can be a problem and good luck.

@JkrloxTheReaper Synonysis has provided both RTP and non, so I think rule 7 is covered.

@Synonysis, the link you've provided in the intro doesn't go to your game on the contest page, it goes to Towers Of Fylaire you need http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/game/view/id/138
lol I have no idea how that happened. Thanks for pointing that out.

Well I gave it a go, but I just got frustrated by the constant game over events, especially in the burning house when there is no indication that the step you are about to take will result in one, and it's almost as if you're expecting your players to remember where all the debris is in the burned two story mansion and use that to make their way out which would require someone with an eidetic memory. I don't mind having to try and avoid obstacles, but simply stepping one one stretch of carpet rather than another and being 'killed' is well, frustrating.

I wish you luck in the contest, but this entry isn't for me, which is a shame since I did like the feel, premise, graphics and music (and I was half way through a review before the ragequit).
Played, the game's great and I really love the music. But, I can't figure out how to save the two souls in the swamp, the wolf and the 'dead end' souls, a hint please? D:

And, I agree with nhubi, the burning house was actually quite annoying, I need to repeat it over and over to complete it... X'D
For avoiding the wolves, examine the pile of what I'm trying to convey as deer poop on the southwestern side of the swamp first.

For the fugitive, interact with her from behind (while in shallow waters) and see a nice little scene on how Munica saves her from the soldiers.

I'll make the burning house objective part a bit more clearer and less punishing in the upcoming patch!
Kk. I patched things up for the deadline. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.
Thanks to testers from everywhere for pointing out errors for me to fix them!

Fixed tinting problems
Fixed collision issues
Added more save points in the swamp
Added hint dialogue for the burning mansion to help clarify the objective
Changed some events in the burning mansion scene to be a bit more forgiving

If you still need help with the burning mansion, I'll include a cheatsheet.

I'll give it another go, like I said I did like the feel of the game.

Good Luck with the Contest.

trying this today.just wondering b4 i mention any glitches i may come across do you still update this? :3

Random thoughts

start was good im intrigued ,can you keep it?

i love the custom art very nice

in terms of game overs this may be the most frustrating rpg maker game ever played :3

no menu : ( how much can you carry!?

some parts took a few times

Overall

i cant pretend this is not the most frustrating rpg maker game i have ever played some Halloween themed game coming in second
....(trying really hard)
nope i cant,i cant think of a single redeeming thing outside having a female character
the problem i have with this is is majorly story based.yet you don't really get much of a story
ESPECIALLY for the most important character you

you ending leaves you feeling heavily trolled for your hard work(i do not consider that a reward but a punishment)
there are only 2 areas which may give you difficulty other then that you just collect souls
some that just come with you some that have requirements.

regardless of feeling empty i plan to suffer thru this again and make a video playthru
subbed until i complete that

oh and 1 glitch

in the save to the west the room above the spirit in the top left corner sometimes you get perm stuck when going thru that door
Interesting idea, but im stuck >_<
I've collected 10 souls, but i was unabled to find the other two, any advice?
I am loving it so far. Check out my first video of the series here
Hope you enjoy ^_^

http://i.imgur.com/onmEiT9.png given the situation this question is pretty funny.

If I remember to then I'll post opinions when I beat it. So far it's a mix of good presentation vs extremely frustrating gameplay.

Also, I take it I have to feed the horse something specific? I've fed it 2-3 inventory loads of various farm foods and it still starves.
Lowkey game with nice mapping, quiet soundtrack, and a simple collection quest. But I died more in this game than in some horror rpg's.

I did the burning house one right at the start, what a poor choice. It's not completely trial and error, but I certainly don't have so good of a memory that I can remember the exact path I took to get thru the house. There's a few cues you can use but it's still pretty hard to do it. I never did figure out how to get Ulrika's soul but from comments it looks like I had to randomly jump into the swamp water even though doing that will usually kill you outright. And that brings us to the major issue. There's alot of ways to die or loose souls, which equates to a game reset. So they are basically the same thing. And I had to reset alot in this game.

Play this if you are looking for a non-horror game where you die alot.
