A short RPG that narrates the story of Crowen, the butler who serves the noble house of Eirinschwartz, regarding a certain day wherein the princess he looks after ventures alone within a shady forest swarming with strange creatures. Aaaaand as the cliche goes, Alas! The princess automatically becomes the damsel in distress. Fortunately, Crowen is not your everyday butler and rushes to the forest to save the princess!

Now, now, why did the princess get herself into trouble anyway? Find out by playing the game! :P

It employs Real-time battle system that requires luck and skill to get through each battle. The battle system is very similar to the Megaman Battle Network series :P

Enjoy!

At last! :P

Ah right, before I forget. This is my very first completed (?) RPG in years lol done with RPGToolkit. Kinda rushed into making this one and had little time to do extensive play-testing (actually did that "extensive" play-testing one day before the deadline. Talk about cramming lol) so expect some weird bugs to pop out

It's also my entry to the 2014 Indie Game Maker Contest. Here's the link for it: Black Bird @ 2014 Indie Game Maker Contest

I don't know about anybody else, but I was absolutely assaulted by error messages when starting this up. For example, the first text-box that appears throws an error message after each character is displayed in the box. There was no way I was going to continue playing if the game was going to keep doing that.

Then again, in regards to another RPG Toolkit game (Draug's Resurrection), I was asked to use "Run as Administrator". I may attempt to do this later on to see if there is any difference.

*Edit: Actually, I think this might be caused by something else entirely (Wasn't there a "part2.exe"? Er, I didn't mess with that.), but, uh, yeah, later.
I'm kinda disappointed as well on that error thinking that it is due to engine-related issues but I still want to think that it is due to my sloppy way of programming so that I may be able to get that error out if I mess around with programming. Hopefully I'd be able to pinpoint the root-cause of this error so that I'll be able to upload a new version of this game along with bug-fixes and maybe additional content.

Sorry for the inconvenience

Thanks for taking the time to play it and giving feedback though, highly appreciated it!

EDIT: Oh wait, unless I'm thinking that the error you're getting is the same as what I think it is, was it this kind of error you're having?

If it's not, it's probably that "run as admin" issue I guess. I should have noted that but kinda forgot

I don't have a copy of version 1.0 anymore, but, I wrote down the error messages I was getting when attempting to run version 1.2. These are very similar to the ones I was getting with version 1.0, though.

Beneath the hide-tag are the kinds of messages I was seeing when attempting to run it normally:

(Uh... none of these options appear to do anything?)

I didn't see any error messages when running it "as administrator", but, as with the case of running it normally, none of the options did anything. Though, considering the evidence, running version 1.0 "as administrator" is probably my best bet in actually playing this game. Though, to be fair, I should have tried that before making any posts whatsoever.
I don't seem to know how to run this game. I installed it and 'phase2,' w/e that was, then tried to run trans3 which had me choose the .gam file then opened a window that just told me that something wasn't found.
I had a few others test this and some got the same error as Marrend said. They ran trans3.exe as admin and that fixed those errors. The errors you've encountered on start up would most likely be fixed when you run trans3.exe as admin. :)
I was just guessing with the 'trans3' being the thing I needed to run at all, but yeah, that seems to have worked.
So, I got to the part after finding the
alchemist witch and I'm suppose to go find Chlorie in some forest...but I don't know where this forest is. It was probably mentioned, but then I went to bed and then to work and I don't quite remember. I've checked just about everywhere in town and on the world map...but the random encounters and super slow walk speed make it rather discouraging to go pixel by pixel.

So, anywhere, could you give me a hint on where to head next?

The impression that I got was that the forest was west of town. Though, now that you mention it, I don't recall the witch giving specific directions to Crow Forest. Hold up...

...Did a quick-check of the event. The location of Crow Forest is not mentioned, only that princess Chlorie could have gone there.
Do the trees there look different than the other trees? I tried walking west off of the map but it didn't work.
The Map should tell where Crow Forest is when used in Inventory. Hmm, but then again it really does seemed a bit confusing now that you guys mentioned it. I should have hinted it at least, my bad.
I completely forgot about having a map q_q
