The dark wizard Ganondorf, seeking to conquer Hyrule, vowed to put an end to the Hylian bloodline. Wielding the Triforce of Power, he took it upon himself to end the royal family once and for all. Princess Zelda is already dead, and the king is slain before Link's own eyes. This will be the Last King of Hyrule.

The pieces of the Triforce of Courage have been scattered to prevent Ganondorf from seizing them. Link, drawn by their essence of courage, must reforge it from its shards in order to face Ganondorf.

The kingdom is already lost. The royal bloodline has been ended. Waves of evil wash over Hyrule as Ganondorf's armies try to find the pieces of the Triforce before Link. Ganondorf, fortified in the Dark World beyond anyone's reach, has achieved absolute power. The situation is utterly hopeless.

Yet as he obtains the strength of the Triforce of Courage, Link presses on into this hopless situation regardless.

The Last King of Hyrule is RMN's collaborative Zelda game made in SMBX! This game was a collaborative effort to make a game in the SMBX game engine where Link is the main playable character. The SMBX engine is designed to make Mario games, and this game contains similarities to Mario-style platforming in some ways, playing like a cross between Zelda 2 and Mario 3.

Alex Mattson's LP

As I continue offering up SMBX games, Alex keeps playing 'em. Sadly, this one suffered from some tech issues, but he got through it!

I'll get started on playing this soon & do a review, hopefully a LP too if I can find a FREE program to record with. (I don't have a mic though)

Edit: Oh lovely! Nobody mentioned that this uses a separate version of SMBX itself (like what Super Talking Time Bros. did).

Edit2: Nope, no LP from me (stupid OBS complaining about GPU & DX10)

I recommend Camtasia Studio. It's like almost freeish...
You can check out my videos to see the quality of the recordings.
(Can't record games in full screen if they have no windows, so you'll need to record RPG Maker games in small screen, but you can edit it to zoom in. I wouldn't foresee issues recording this game.)

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Lol, there are so many free recording programs that can handle fullscreen, why would you use an "almost freeish" one that can't?

Here's a topic with a bunch of suggestions: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/9768/

By the way, I submitted the first video of my new let's play of this game onto the media page. Though I am unsure how it gets put onto the main page for all to see. Unless only a forum moderator/administrator can do something like that.
Lucky for you I am both a developer on this game and administrator of the RMN website!

Unlucky for you, I've delegated responsibility for showcasing videos on the frontpage to someone else.

I got my hands on a free program called EZ Vid. But I don't have a mic (besides the mic hole in my laptop, which sucks). I think I'll wait til next month to see if I can get a headset w/mic & I'll do one then.

Edit: I just beat the game yesterday. When I get a headset with a mic I'll do a 2nd playthrough as a LP (a more experienced LP)
Just played about 30 minutes of it. Pretty slick so far. 5*
Just beat my first boss, the giant spider. It would have been cool to have an overlay image showing the name of the boss like in OoT. Cool fight. Still 5* game.

I discovered an interesting technique while playing this. I'll get a vid up. Makes it much faster to go through these levels while still getting everything, and when you have the fireballs? It's so sweet. Makes me want to speed run some of these levels.
All right, so I just finished beating the game last night and have finished writing the review for it. All it needs now is just some proofreading and some minor adjustments to go along with it and it should be good to go. I would do it now, but it’s, like, really, really late over here (around 2:45 A.M.) and I’m getting a bit sleepy here *yawn*. And I’m also going to package the review with something else submitted to the site so I can get up to magical makerscore number five-thousand among other things.

I did find one game-breaking glitch during my playthrough that seem to correct itself when I re-entered the level again that I didn’t mention in my review, so I’ll mention it here:

In the “Whirlwind” stage during the third phase of the fight, a vulture enemy somehow flew above the screen and completely disappeared from view which made me had quit the game manually altogether and restart the level again. I didn’t get this glitch the second time around, but I’m wondering if this is just something that happens in SMBX once in a while on occasion. Still, good to know, right? :)

For the glitch, did you try standing on the lowest level to wait for the vulture to come back? The weird thing about that is that if it killed itself by going off-screen, then why didn't the level complete itself?

It would've despawned, and despawned != dead in SMBX. We'll just need a ceiling up there to keep the vultures from flying away.
@ Ratty524 – Yeah, I tried jumping down to the lowest platform and wait a bit to see if it would come back but nothing happened. I even tried jumping around a bit after a while to see if that would work but nothing.

Either way, it’s not a big deal as it didn’t happen the second time around and I found no other glaring issues throughout the course of the game that I know of, so everything pretty peachy-keen on the bug front other than just that.
I'll be uploading my Let's Play of this on youtube soon.
So since i did some videos on this i also decided to share them here with you also.

Also are others allowed to use those gfx?
I've reposted my Let's Plays in the media section, awaiting approval. Apparently it was the brackets I was using when labeling the part #. Apparently it removed everything in between & made all the names the same. As for why the youtube vids where nothing but white boxes, I have no clue. Hopefully that won't be a problem anymore.

It still is, but I can't view your HTML so I don't know what the problem is.

The problem is you're not giving the correct URL for the videos.

But I right-clicked the URL directly & clicked the 'Youtube' button & pasted the URL, so it shouldn't be wrong. Maybe it's because the URL was off my Playlist, which looks a little different than the standard URL.

Edit: I just edited the URLs to exclude the playlist part. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Edit2: They're working now.
"There needs to be about 1 hour of gameplay per media page. 3-5 videos per page works too, as long as they equal about that much time. The only reason the first page made it through was because I thought you were going to be adding more videos to that page."

Welp now all we get is Part 1 and people have to watch the rest over at Youtube due this reason.
