The dark wizard Ganondorf, seeking to conquer Hyrule, vowed to put an end to the Hylian bloodline. Wielding the Triforce of Power, he took it upon himself to end the royal family once and for all. Princess Zelda is already dead, and the king is slain before Link's own eyes. This will be the Last King of Hyrule.

The pieces of the Triforce of Courage have been scattered to prevent Ganondorf from seizing them. Link, drawn by their essence of courage, must reforge it from its shards in order to face Ganondorf.

The kingdom is already lost. The royal bloodline has been ended. Waves of evil wash over Hyrule as Ganondorf's armies try to find the pieces of the Triforce before Link. Ganondorf, fortified in the Dark World beyond anyone's reach, has achieved absolute power. The situation is utterly hopeless.

Yet as he obtains the strength of the Triforce of Courage, Link presses on into this hopless situation regardless.

The Last King of Hyrule is RMN's collaborative Zelda game made in SMBX! This game was a collaborative effort to make a game in the SMBX game engine where Link is the main playable character. The SMBX engine is designed to make Mario games, and this game contains similarities to Mario-style platforming in some ways, playing like a cross between Zelda 2 and Mario 3.

Before anyone asks, this Zelda title takes place in the "HOOGVSASHT" Timeline.

This is the first game of this timeline, and the next to follow are the Zelda CDi games, where the hero's descendants go from being "the Hero of Time" to "the Hero of Squadala"
this is consistet w/ our king evn tho hes ded

WAIT WE SAID WE WOULDN'T RETCON IT

The king's name in this game is King Hyrule, the king's name in the CDi games is King Harkinian. They are two different, but similar people.

Shit. I knew that it was almost ready for primetime, but I didn’t expect primetime to be today!

Well – I’m excited! I guess I know what I’m going to be reviewing for review # 50. :)

Before anyone asks, this Zelda title takes place in the "HOOGVSASHT" Timeline.

This starts at the end of Ocarina of Time. Instead of either side winning against each other, Link pulls out the fog glitch, plays the ocarina under lava, and activates Din's Fire while grabbing the Master Sword all at the same time. This creates instability within the universe, and inadvertently sucks both Link and Ganondorf into a dimensional portal.

After 64 million years pass, the world finally stabilizes, and plops both Link and Ganondorf back into a familiar, but different reality from where they once were. Their memories were also erased in the process.

This is the first game of this timeline, and the next to follow are the Zelda CDi games, where the hero's descendants go from being "the Hero of Time" to "the Hero of Squadala"
Sorry I Didn't help with the testing guys, I know I was pretty much useless on this...
But on the upside now that the game is done I can add this to my LP Schedule...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Great job everyone!

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Must be a version difference.

In version 1.3, which is what we used to make this game (because we started it before version 1.3.0.1 was released), it tries to load http://www.supermariobrothers.org/splash instead.

The same Waluigi errors that pop up when any SMBX game starts. "Your browser is outdated and can't support this page." "An error has occured on this page: Object doesn't support this property or method line 27 char 1. Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" And then even if you click no it shows the same error several more times.

It happens because when SMBX first starts, it tries to load a website which, in 2011, was the official Mario website. Except that website longer exists. So it redirects you to a new website that requires Javascript, but SMBX doesn't know what Javascript is, and it explodes.

So I hacked it to make it load our game profile instead.

When I open it it loads a splash screen from supermariobrosx.org
http://www.supermariobrosx.org/splash/##/

No error or program's head exploding here.

That is actually what i was trying to do before real-world stuff happened...

We're actually done with the game, and we've just been polishing it up and arguing about the difficulty. We've also been doing weird crap like this to make it feel like marginally less of a hack job:

The deluge of error messages that are usually the first thing to greet a player upon opening any SMBX game are a TERRIBLE first impression, especially for a player who's never heard of SMBX. Many would just close the game at that point, thinking it doesn't work. So, we fixed it.

What kind of errors popped up when starting?
Oh, so it’s actually done, wow... I guess we’ll be expecting it sometime around the end of the year once all of the kinks have managed to get worked out – but nicely done, you guys! I never really truly lost hope for this project, ‘cause I knew you guys were working on it whenever you could, but I was wondering when it was going to get done. And now, we’re almost ready for some primetime. ^^
