The dark wizard Ganondorf, seeking to conquer Hyrule, vowed to put an end to the Hylian bloodline. Wielding the Triforce of Power, he took it upon himself to end the royal family once and for all. Princess Zelda is already dead, and the king is slain before Link's own eyes. This will be the Last King of Hyrule.

The pieces of the Triforce of Courage have been scattered to prevent Ganondorf from seizing them. Link, drawn by their essence of courage, must reforge it from its shards in order to face Ganondorf.

The kingdom is already lost. The royal bloodline has been ended. Waves of evil wash over Hyrule as Ganondorf's armies try to find the pieces of the Triforce before Link. Ganondorf, fortified in the Dark World beyond anyone's reach, has achieved absolute power. The situation is utterly hopeless.

Yet as he obtains the strength of the Triforce of Courage, Link presses on into this hopless situation regardless.

The Last King of Hyrule is RMN's collaborative Zelda game made in SMBX! This game was a collaborative effort to make a game in the SMBX game engine where Link is the main playable character. The SMBX engine is designed to make Mario games, and this game contains similarities to Mario-style platforming in some ways, playing like a cross between Zelda 2 and Mario 3.

As I continue offering up SMBX games, Alex keeps playing 'em. Sadly, this one suffered from some tech issues, but he got through it!

I was never good with meeting deadlines. Although missing a deadline is a kind of motivator.

Don't you dare try to take all the blame for our astounding failure, kent! I've been working on one boss fight for...how long has it been now? My life is f@#$ing stupid.

This project has been missing deadlines since its community event days, though, so maybe it's fitting???

I've landed a new part-time temp job that opened up a lot more reliable game design time in my off hours. Expect good things soon. Publicly shame me if I don't produce.
i am the last king of deadlines (the delay is totally my fault everyone)

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

the chance of us meeting my arbitrary deadline is now approximately negative thirty percent

sorry i failed

In my defense, some asshole decided to run a game jam with a premise that easily suckered in a lot of the same kinds of people who got suckered into this project. And then he extended it by an extra week after it had already started, the dastardly villain.

The new expected release date for The Last King of Hyrule is the Ides of Eventually. It is totally gettin' done though. Just, you know, at a slower than ideal speed. A speed that could accurately be called "embarassing" and "concerning."

OK, fans and cohorts, this is an announcement. We are now shooting for a deadline of February 21, the anniversary of the release of the original Legend of Zelda, to release this game. We are about 90% of the way done with the game and I think this deadline is very feasible! Stay tuned, and be sure to make us feel super bad if we miss it!

Damn! I got so distracted by other things (and this site's serious loading problems scared me away) that I didn't get a chance to pitch in. Oh well. So, the deadline's this Saturday huh? Think you'll get it done? I hope so. To make up for not contributing like I wanted to, I could give this a review once its done & I finish it, and no it won't be like that failure of a review that I made for Super RMN World. I'll give a detailed review of most of the notable levels if not all of them.

But your Canadian, and proud of it.
What do you know about "the buck stops here"? :)

Am I correct that the rules state "if you accept blame, there is a 3k reduction
in M score :)
If we miss the deadline it will be my fault.

SSOOOoooooo, will the completion date bring a complete game we can play ?? :)

OH LockeZ, you can count on that :)
I noticed the loading problems with this site but didn't think it was properly posting my posts. Anyway, I'm still waiting for my laptop to be fixed. Once that is done I'll install SMBX & try to get reacquainted with the editor (since it's been a while). I just need to know which areas actually need the levels so I know what kind of theme to run with them. I also read that you guys are scraping the idea of 'town' levels. That's a shame really. I would imagine that towns could be used as this game's equivalent to mushroom houses from the Mario games as a resting point with power-ups & maybe a 1-up or two & perhaps some info from towns people about secrets in certain levels like palaces, just like in Zelda 2.

For the record, I'm back on track with this since 2014 ended, and I've begun making the final battle stage. I'm off all weekend, too, so I should be able to make some nice progress.
Hmm, I guess I could use the ms. Ok. Send me in, coach!

You couldn't give it official stars, Link_2112, but you could still submit a Let's Play video as media, and judge the game in the video. That plus credit for being a developer would be worth a lot more makerscore than the review. Please help? We definitely need you.

Also, Animebryan, if Kentona is fine with it, then feel free to submit a level or two. They would need to be outdoor levels, not temples or bosses. And they would need to not be in Gerudo Desert, because the desert already has more levels than any other world. Send me a message if you are interested, and I can give you our resources such as tiles and enemies.

Wow, Triple Identical posts, Is that a record for the RMN Hardware to be so buggy?

That is certainly not a record. The record is probably somewhere around 7 or 8. The page was slow to load, so he likely kept hitting submit.

"Cut scenes" are probably mostly going to be small (1-2 screen) levels that make use of events and layers to make stuff happen. The person who was supposed to be in charge of both overseeing and eventing our story has vanished though, so we're back at square one story-wise. If you understand events and layers and have an eye for detail I would love to have you help with some of that stuff.

I'm kind of a smbx cutscene master. But I plan on reviewing this game, so if me doing that work would prevent that, then I can't.

Also, We do need one more level done, but I'm not sure if anyone did it yet, LockeZ probably has the best answer.
RMN is under heavy load (for RMN's standard anyways). Megaman revenge of the fall has generated 30GB of traffic in downloads this month.

The world map, because it is such simple tiles, isn't that hard to edit in new levels. I also am leaving a lot of space. And I haven't made much overall progress...
