A "short story in game form" taking place in a far off country in the world of "Illusions of Loyalty"
Two men, once students of the same sword-master, meet on a beach. One, a fugitive, a murderer, fleeing for his life. The other, a mercenary, seeking to bring the other to justice. A duel is inevitable. Only one will walk away alive...

Delusions of Duty is a very short game, containing a handful of story scenes, and one single boss battle.
The battle uses a "skill unlock system" where using a skill will lock a skill to prevent it from being used, but will unlock one or two other skills for use. To win, you will need to pick your moves intelligently, as well as make sure you set yourself up well for later turns.
Both you and your opponent have the same skills and combat mechanics, so it's up to you to master them on the spot and turn them against your opponent to turn a losing fight around. The enemy will shift stances (between Aggressive, Focused, Wary and Anxious) in response to the flow of battle, as well as the status effects inflicted on both combatants, changing the his priorities as he does so.
If you want to skip the story, there is an option for that, as well as an option to see only the story scenes, once you have successfully defeated the enemy.

Delusions of Duty was my contest entry for the "Fundamental RPGology" contest, where we were expected to create a battle system using only the absolute fundamental RPG concepts the judges prescribed (The give-and-take of damage, a skill-unlock type system, and minimal randomness)

Update:
