The world is at war.

First the town guards were recruited and now conscription is being enforced.
The notorious bandit group ‘the Mad Dogs’ have taken this opportunity to terrorise the now defenceless towns.

Ralph, a washed up former detective is living in the desert and couldn’t care less about these world altering events.
That is, until they come to his doorstep.

Facing the threat of being conscripted into the army Ralph flees his home with plans on infiltrating the Capital City. Being the place where the countries ‘betters’ live, citizens there are exempt from being drafted into the army.

This will not be an easy task however; it’s not just a place one can walk into, Ralph will need the proper documentation.
Or a very good copy.

On Ralph’s journey you will also be privy to a glimpse into the lives of two other (far less cowardly) characters.

David is a mysterious man with a deep rooted grudge against the leader of the Mad Dogs. He will do everything in his power to track him down.

Thomas is a high ranking soldier who is hiding his past from his fellow troops. He believes that his Commanders word is above all else and cannot stand the sight of an undisciplined soldier.

Finally finishing the series off

Hot damn can't believe it's been six years since I started this project.

After Chapter 4 I started work on Chapter 5 (was gonna go all George Lucas and call it Chapter 7 but decided against it...) which was a prequel following the Black Knight, remember it was heavily influenced by Phantom Pain since I'd played that around then and think I actually made quite a bit of it, even had a fair bit of gameplay compared to the other Chapters, I remember some dodging fireballs, basic stealth mechanics (really pushing whole Phantom Pain thing) and even a sort of whack a mole boss fight. Kinda got burned out and took a break to work on something else, that soemthing else never materialised into anything and when I finally felt like going back to the Learson project had soured in my mind. Didn't like the story, gone off the whole supernatural angle.

So basically I did nothing for 4 years, well that's not entirely true, got a new job, got in shape, lost my hair but real life stuff doesn't matter.

Anyway finally wanted to get back to it to work on my new project, a project which I cared deeply for, so much that I wanted it to be all by me, custom graphics, music all that. Problem is I'd never done that before, so I couldn't start work on my dream project without practicing on something first, hence the idea to finally finish the Learson series. Not just finish it, remake it. I figured I would condense the story, cut out all the crap, make it short and sweet and simple and smash it out in a year or so. This sounds bad but since I didn't really care about it anymore I figured it would be easier finishing it off and saying 'yep, that'll do', but as I'm sure most of you know feature creep took ahold of me, small tiny maps ended up becoming multiple maps, a lot of what I cut out of the story creeped back in, (saying that most of the crap from Chapter 4 has been cut, not sure what the hell I was thinking back then. Also most of Chapter 1 and 3 if I really think about it.) So yeah I became attached to it and now it's taking longer than I expected. Still I feel like I've restrained myself somewhat this time, I'm actually able to cut scenes and other stuff that don't really add anything. Feel like the story is a lot more cohesive this time around but I guess we'll see.

Main difference now is there's going to be 5 different endings, largely because I couldn't decide on which one I liked and partly because I needed a reason for all the dialogue options in the game.

Anyway, think this new version will be a lot better, more of a visual novel than an RPG, no battles, no puzzles, those always were kind jammed in as an afterthought in previous games. Replaying them for the first time in a while it really was quite glaring. Why the hell were they fighting rats in the desert?

I'm liking this so far, but one thing I'd like to mention, and I don't know if it's intentional. Do you mean for there to be no items to cure poison? All the antidotes you can buy are for paralysis and not poison. So you have to go all the way back to a save point to get the poison cured if you want to have it cured.

The other main question is whether you intended for the first merchant you meet as Ralph to sell you potions that give you 500 HP, versus all the other merchants selling potions that give you 100.

The first part was intentional. I thought the save points were spread liberally enough.

The potion thing however, was not intentional. Thanks for telling me.
After Ralph meets with the fortune-teller and it switches back to David I don't seem to be able to leave the building that he's in. I've gone in all directions, hit enter at each point and I seem to just be stuck in there.

Are you talking about this area?

Yes, that area.
You should be able to jump down in the bottom left corner.

If you can't then I'm not sure what's causing that.

Okay, it worked this time. Not sure why it didn't before. I'm relatively sure I pressed enter at every corner of that place.
Just a heads up, there's another jump on that map which is pretty awkward. You can see it in the picture I posted, it's on the left wall.

I'm planning on adding the glowy circle thing for jumps in the next iteration of this Chapter so that they are impossible to miss. I probably won't be releasing that until Chapter 2 comes out though.
For me in the beginning, all the way to the right after you take the long jump, everytime I try to climb up, the game freezes.

Sorry, where are you exactly?

Are you talking about the area you start in?

Also, I'm definitely going to need testers before I release the next episode.
Yes in the first area all the way to the right where you have to jump a gap. I went again and didnt go up yet but did some other stuff then came back and went up another fine and I was able to go to the next area. I am in the desert area now but dont seem to be able go any further. I did a couple of quests and re-talked to everyone but still dont see a way to progress.

I am already playing...can I be a bug catcher please, can I, can I? Dont make an old man beg.

If you could PM me about any bugs you find that'd be great.

Are you still stuck in the desert?
Yes sir I am afraid that I am. Where next, good Sir?

Go there.

Is this area PAST the bridge? I see what looks like a fence off to the left of your picture. There are two people at the bridge.
There is a gate which is locked and I cannot pass.
There is also an area when has a box and a small gap to cross in the bottom right of a cave but when I stand at the edge or back up and try to jump it....I cannot.

Ah yes, now I see.

You need the plank of Wood.
(I put a lot of wood in the Desert for some reason.)
Next to where the Mayor is sitting there are some vines, if you climb up them you should go to an area where you find a plank of Wood lying around and a chest.

You can then use the plank to cross the small gap you mentioned.
The reason you can't just jump over that is because...
Err... I'll get back to you on that one.
Thanks and I am thinking the picture you showed me are there. Good, thank you and off I go!
So I sided with the Mad Dogs just so I could keep the sword. Would anything advantageous have happened if I sided with the Raphael followers?
