I'm about 3 weeks into this project, and I've already managed to piss off my entire class.

"WHAT?! You're not coding everything from scratch?" "WHAT?! You've already started?" "WHAT?! Are you TRYING to outdo us?"

To which I reply, "It wasn't in the instructions that everything had to be coded from scratch. Yes, I've already started. No, I'm not trying to outdo anyone. I just like making games."

So yeah. I have no friends at class anymore. Sadface.

There's good and bad sides to making a page here on RMN. The good side is that I can see that some of you actually LIKE this idea. As soon as I got comments and subs, I thought to myself, "Wow. I'm amazed that people actually want to follow this project!" And it motivates me to work even harder.

The bad side is that now I've got pressure to make it good! The project was simply to demonstrate a bit of Artificial Intelligence knowledge. If I REEEALLY wanted to, I could just take what I've got, simplify the story, and call it a project. But... This game is kinda growing on me the more I work with it.

Either I've taken a school assignment to heart or I've become a slave to the project and your expectations and now suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. Regardless, I've been working a lot harder than I had originally intended. "So what HAVE you been working on, Nova?" You may ask, "Is there a point to your rambling or are you just wasting my time?"

Well, I might as well give a progress report.

The last two weeks have been planning out the A.I routines that the psychopath will be taking. I'd say that process is about 85% done. Thankfully, this is the meat of the game, so once I finish this off, the rest of development is going to be just mapping and dialogue.

I really want to talk about the story and introduce the two main characters at least, since that's my favorite part of game developing and all that. Maybe later I'll set up a character page for them or leave it to a later blog. Since this game is so short, I'm afraid I might spoil the entire experience and give no incentive to play it.

Anyway, thanks for reading! This project WILL be completed by the end of next month, so you won't have to wait too long before getting to play it.
