This is my humble offering to the Revive the Dead event. For this particular installment, I chose a single dungeon from my first ever project and made a game out of it. It is a simple dungeon crawler. It's not necessarily comedy but there is fourth wall humor and the hero definitely has a mouth on her.

Aluran is a secret agent from a distant kingdom, but the game doesn't tell you that. She's awakened in the basement of this castle with no clue how she got there. Eventually, she meets Emaline, a sharpshooter with an unknown history, but the game doesn't tell you that either. Emaline possesses skills and weapons that simply don't exist on...well, the planet. Everyone's kind of playing with swords and riding around on horses. Where do you even get a gun? Together, they find themselves in an honest to goodness Frankenstein's-castle, complete with lab, tesla coils, and hideous creation.

It's not great, probably not even very good, but I enjoyed playtesting so it may have potential.

Finished playing your game. I actually liked it. Yes, it has some issues, but overall I had an enjoyable experience. I'm just a gamer, have no idea how to make games. So thumbs up to you, for making, and completing your games.
Ok, before I begin, let me say that I have no issues with your personally, and I wish you well.

Just went through this game, it felt very incomplete and well...it was a pretty terrible game overall.

There were a lot of easily fixable issues, like the skeletons making the game crash, and the wife not having 3 clones of herself when she gets out of her bed.

But more importantly than that, this game is such a bland experience. The two worst things about this game are the optional bosses and the dialogue. The bosses arr hard yes, but the hardest thing about them was how repetitive it was, as they take forever to kill. The dialogue itself NEVER funny and it feels like you didn't even care about it in the slightest, and there's no interesting twists on the combat system or creative dungeon design to go with it.

The only thing that I actually liked about the game was the Monster Mash song at the end. Not the dancing that the monsters did, I barely remember it. But at least I got to hear a cool song at the end.

Sorry, but I really think that you should have just left this game buried, and used the time that you spend finishing it to work on something better.

Okay, pleased by how well my focus works, in what I will eventually upload, Jack-O-Lanterns now have a self-destruct, just like the Bombs in Final Fantasy. I have added another map and spread the bosses out. I've changed the demon battler to the efreet battler. Demon now has extra abilities that activate for certain triggers. Going to do the same for the other bosses. Going through and adding abilities to enemies, lowering the attack priority in favor of skills on some, others being just more button mashers. I'm playing alot with triggered abilities and am toying with transformation for some of them.

Going to try and even out stats and change the items a bit so they make more sense.

Well the mistake's on me, really. I would have sworn I made healing save points, copy and pasted them, improved them, then forgot to put the message on one of them, but I could also have literally forgotten to make one of them heal.

Anyhoo, neither of them heal anymore, but I counterbalance this by making it easier to heal between battles with items and skills. And Focus gives you 15 MP, only usable in battle. I'm so glad I got this to work. Yet another mechanic I use in a big project for more than just Focus.

I'm switching to VX Ace, but I'll still use 2003 because I love the graphic style.

Thank you for the articles. I'll start working on the bosses tonight.
Alright I'll try it again.. I remember the second save point telling me it would heal me, but it didn't. Maybe I was mistaken though.

Here are some excellent articles on boss design when you're interested in working on them

Okay...latest version, save points don't heal (the second one did, it just forgot to tell you).

I probably still have a save file in there.

Mummies repositioned.

Bosses haven't been fixed yet, but I'm really not done working on this. Just making sure a playable version is up.

Not sure how to fix the issue with escaping from the mummies or even how that issue is arising...

Also, more items, found in the bookshelves on the first floor, and 6 or 7 of the bone piles on floor 2 now attack you if you search them. Also, a focus ability has been added for Aluran in case you run low on resins, and both characters have new MP based abilities. Aluran's stats have also been improved.
Alright, some stuff...

1: Save files still in package
2: The second save point doesn't heal you
3: Mummies appear in a strange place

He's in the wall
4: The bosses seem somewhat boring: I'm just using the same strategy for each. Attack/Heal/Attack/Heal until he dies, nothing has posed a threat yet.
5: Failing to escape from Mummies freezes the game.
I replayed the game and... now is too easy (played the 2.1 version), the mapping needs some work and the story is kinda random, overall: 1.8/5

Level is fixed.
Maybe it's because I didn't restart my computer in a while, but when Dark 1 is cast, the spell title just sits there for anywhere between 5 and 20 seconds before cast. So it's not so much "lag" but "delay" actually. I don't have a clue how to fix it, sorry D:. I'll try again tomorrow after I restart my computer.

...I didn't...fixing her level...

How do I fix lag?
Played the new ver:

1) Aluran now begins at level 10
2) Dark 1 causes severe lag
Fight the favorable battles, run from the others. Make sure you pick up every item. Shades/Specters are easy, the rest have lots of HP. I remember farming til lvl 3 for the boss, and that worked for him.

Use your potions for an out-of-battle heal and high potions for in-battle. You should also find Minor Heal and learn it, as well as equip the agility cloak. Use every Stat Up item and find them all (search everywhere). There's a potion that restores full HP/SP if you want to use it (I did before the boss fight)

Yes, use your magic sparingly. If you have any Resins, those will restore some magic points. There are a few monsters that drop it.
Is just me or the game is too hard? I'm on the first floor and I'm already running out of potions and I can't find a way to restore my magic

I figured with my level of experience, I shouldn't try anything fancy. A straight dungeon-crawler was my best bet for a halfway decent game.

Oh! Look at what I did! *Cringe.* I must have forgot to move the teleport.

As for saving, I was considering save points, but was afraid the game was too easy at this point.

Edit: That should be the last of the gamebreaking bugs. Anything else should be purely comical. Also, adding save points to the first two maps.
Hm, when I exit the room with the HP, SP, Attack, Def increases and the Raisin, I get stuck in the wall:

It's pretty good so far, though I don't like being able to not save for such long periods of time. It makes it very easy to lose a lot of progress.

Oh, good grief. Get over yourself. I strongly suspect you're too old to be acting this way.
