I actually completely failed to notice that beard until I scrolled to the comments. Then again, I was on my phone at the time, and that animesque red colour just blurred too finely on the small screen. :)

Anyway, there's only one thing in this screenshot I have concerns about, and it's the Fable-esque conversation system. I just have a strong bias towards traditional dialogue trees, although Last Word did manage to win me over with its non-traditional system.

Can we... just say they're nonbinary.
Um... Well, no, not really, because Archeia said she's a woman/female.
Edit:
whoops, looks like that was already taken care of. but really.

Anyway, I like her. I'm going with "she looks freaking awesome" and leaving it at that.
Seriously doubt that guy if he ever claims to respect a feminine person with a penis when he can't even take a woman with a beard seriously.

I like her, but then again I have a major weakness for baddass ladies and she looks like one so *-*

Same! She reminds me of Sully from Fire Emblem. I'm psyched to see her in-game.

It's...a fantasy game, right? Even if it's so weird to you, it's still fantasy world. Why is it any weirder than having monster features or anything of the sort, just roll with it.

I really wish I would have posted on this earlier, and been able to just say "I love this expression!" However, with GreyInvidia's comment, a chord has been struck. Comment hide-tagged because I'm more conformable hide-tagging it.

My mother has had a fairly light mustache for as long as I can recall. However, when I was in grade school, people made fun of me (and her) for it.

Also, I was almost abused in middle school for having slight breasts. I consider myself pretty damn lucky that there was a teacher nearby to stop it before things escalated.

Also-also, I was given a razor in my first year of high school because, and I'm almost quoting word-for-word, here, "you're too young to have facial hair".

Also-also-also, sorry about this rant, Nessy. I don't want this conversation to devolve much further.

AHaha, I was asleep for this discussion! Dang! But yeah, thanks to those that supported Christina's look. <3 When I designed her, me and Nessy tried giving her a beard mostly because it felt like she called for one and once I tried it out, it was hard to let it go. Sometimes when you design a character, you get that feeling of 'ohh this is the right design' and that was pretty much it. What the process didn't include was 'lulul let's put a beard on her and weird everyone out' or forcing this beard on a female character for the sake of having a 'unique character'.

Hopefully once we get the game ready for release, you'll enjoy her even more because she's proving to be a very expressive and wonderful woman. <3
Christina identifies herself in a binary gender. If you ask her, she'll tell you she's a woman and damn proud of it. :3

@JosephSeraph no worries ;)
unless they actually identify as binary :3

edit:
i've never seen a second page in a game picture lol

i'm a little embarassed. Sorry. lol

I wouldn't even guess that it was supposed to be a woman. I understand that this character is supposed to be somewhat original, but making it a freak shouldn't be the way - at least if you want your game to have more serious tone. If it's going to be a slapstick comedy, then it's totally cool, though.
Fun fact: Humans are a species of great ape. Apes tend to have hair all over their bodies. What's so unusual about it being on the face when it's pretty much everywhere else anyways?

I wonder the same thing too. On my country I'm considered a weirdo for having long hair.

Um, yeah, gonna have to agree with Nessy on this. It's not freakish to have hair. Women do get facial hair a lot, especially in their older years, because of hormones. Often it's hard to see because it's very fine, but certain races are more disposed towards those hormonal changes and it's 100% normal. Women do have hair on their face - all women - it's just usually very, very fine and light in colour so it's hard to tell.

That and society is a fuck when it comes to telling women that they should look a certain way, then showing off photoshopped images of 'perfection' as examples (seriously, the models they use as what a woman should be don't even look like their pictures and those who are in videos and the like are made up to the nines, with deliberate lighting that enhances and hides imperfections. See them in natural lighting and their every-day clothes and they look very different. Paparazzi makes a living off showing the 'look how bad they are lol let themselves go' images when in reality those images are the real ones.) Quite frankly it's bullshit.

So yeah, that kind of thinking can go back to the 20s when they used to feature bearded women in circus' and carnivals. If you're a woman who can rock a beard and doesn't care about it, go you. If you're a woman who has a beard but doesn't want to deal with it so shave/wax it off - go you, too. And if you're a woman who has fine facial hair that can't be seen, well, go you, too. Each and all of ya are 100% normal.

Bravo! Well said, Liberty :D Frankly, I'd like to thank Nessy and co for including Christina as she is ^_^ I think it's wonderful!

Holy shit man, no offense but that is OFFENSIVE AS FUCK.
Just because a woman doesn't follow your conformed standards or societal expectations, doesn't make them a freak. Christina is totally fine with being a woman sporting a beard, there is nothing wrong with that. She likes it as a character and it doesn't detriment her in any way. We like her the way she is, not for humor but as a perfectly healthy character. You are saying that just because you know some women that do shave, doesn't necessarily apply to everyone else.

I mean god forbid if a woman has hair anywhere else like the armpits or even a beard.

She was not designed for being 'original.' She just turned out that way. Please don't make assumptions that we designed someone to do something 'original' instead of what's best for the purposes of our narrative; which tends to be experiences with several people throughout our social lives.

that. also

this woman is no slapstick comedy character.

Why is everyone being so weird about this.. Chick can rock a beard if she wanna, and damn do she rock it.
Some say about how girls with mustaches/beards were nice etc. That doesn't change the fact that any normal girl that would consider themselves at least a bit girly would do something different than letting them grow more. I also know few girls that shave their faces from time to time and facial hair growing for both men and women isn't anything that strange by itself. Issue lies with how this character looks. If not for bra (that tbh ain't really making anyone woman) I wouldn't even guess that it was supposed to be a woman. I knew a girl in high-school that had a mustache. She was really nice!

Same. The one I knew was a bit of a bitch but she went on to be a model for women's clothes - she just waxed regularly to keep the moustache away.

Also knew a girl who was built like this. Man, she was a bit scary when you first met her, but a real sweetheart. She was constantly trying to diet and lose 'weight' but she wasn't fat, just had a larger body than most of the other girls... and guys. ^.^

I think she went on to be a fitness instructor (she was a year ahead of me in school and I didn't pay too much attention to the older classes. I wouldn't have known her if she hadn't been the one assigned to take care of my cousin the first week of year 7.) But yeah, eventually she just seemed to realise that no amount of dieting was going to change her body structure and just got on with her life. Oh, and she married a really awesome guy, too - apparently he's a prince or something in his home country and treats her like an absolute princess, so... ^.^
