I was wondering if this was still alive.
Now I know it is. Good.
That looks nice. Where did you get those tiles? Or have you made them yourself?

I believe Kaempfer got those from the Kung Fu/Inheritance Chapter of SquareSoft's Japanese RPG "Live A Live" which Yoshihide Fujiwara was the character designer for.

I was gonna say, kudos, Kaempfer! I wish more people would use assets from Live-A-Live,
because they have pretty much every setting you'd want to capture in rpgmaker.
Like, I'm surprised more people haven't played this game, because it's pretty much the ideal game,
to make in rpgmaker - 8 short stories, done in entirely different time periods, each with a unique character and setting.

It's kind of crazy, we haven't seen more games like this, especially ones done in rpgmaker.

Can't wait to see more Kaempfer!

is now playing in your head

I think its mainly because people rarely use 16x16 charas in rm2k3snesrip games, it's kind of what only people with taste use.

LordBlueRogue is 100% correct!

The bamboo and cliffs are only very minor alterations from Live a Live. The Bamboo and dirt have been recoloured to be more green, since the original Live a Live graphics are very desaturated and don't go well with my sprites. There are few new small tiles in the bamboo to make it easier to work with.

The path, stone archway and red grass/fallen leaves are my own additions. The archway is custom (which is why it sucks), based on something from Treasure Hunter G. The stone pathway tiles are... uh, maybe from Breath of Fire? I think they're pretty heavily edited. The grass is from some extremely obscure JRPG I can't remember the name of, also heavily edited.

Having ripped or tried to rip many of Live a Live's graphics before I can tell you that many of the tilesets are nightmarishly incompatible with other games and also very difficult to recolour. They use very unusual colour ramps with intermittent shades that require a lot of precision to edit. There are lots of sneaky tricks used to make them look good, and sneaky tricks are hard to work with. The character sprites are also of an unusual style, and don't match FF4/5 if you look too closely. I often find it easier to rip from completely unrelated games of a different scope/scale than to use LaL tiles, despite their seemingly perfect fit.

It is a fun game, though, and deserves more attention. Some of the graphics are gorgeous! You'll be seeing more of them from me pretty soon.
