Meet Alana! Also a Game Design Document!

Meet Alana the protagonist of Everything Will be Fine!

Alana was traveling solo on an expedition to a remote space outpost when her ship crashed into space debris and landed on what appears to be an uninhabited planet. Alana is resourceful and determined to find a way to survive and get off the planet. An astrobiologist by trade she is highly intelligent, though she lacks advanced engineering and mechanics knowledge. Studying life in space has been a lifelong dream of hers and has been supported by her parents, who she is very close with. Though she’s trying to remain hopeful she is stressed about her current situation and copes by making existential and fatalistic jokes.

After being stranded for 247 days Alana is starting to severely suffer from the prolonged isolation. She’s depressed and has been having minor auditory & visual hallucinations as well as what may be a justified sense of paranoia. With her ship nearly repaired she must survive one last day on the planet.

The above sprites and character sheet are from when she has first landed.

And here is the game design document I'm using for the demo if you want to sneak a peak at that!

The ol' switcheroo

Whats that? Did I just out the in-production game on hiatus and take the game that was on hiatus out of it? Yes! Did that sentence make sense? Hopefully?

EWBF is going to be in production again while I work on it for a class (And Scaredy Cat is going on hiatus). And speaking of switches I've moved to the Unity engine and its now a point and click game. Whoo! Feel free to ask any questions you might have about this new direction!

I'm still leaving the old download up as I'm rather fond of the thing. Think of it as playable concept art.

Progress Report + A Plea for Opinions

So I've been very lucky and my color theory professor has been letting me work on this game for my projects, (and I'll be able to work on it for my final project which we get 3 weeks to complete) so I'm thinking the game will be finished sometime in March! Exciting!

Also you might have notice that all the images have been changed. This is an update of what the game currently looks like. Overall there's been general improvement.

Lastly I need your opinion! Which game over screen do y'all prefer?

Computer Troubles (Surprise, Surprise)

Unfortunately I have not made as many advances on EWBF as I would have liked and this is mainly due to two things, one my family has been moving houses so I've been busy with unpacking and long car rides and two my computer decided to stop working (again). As this was about the 8th time it has had serious issues coupled with the fact that you now have to commit ritual sacrifice to get the thing to turn on anymore I finally convinced my dad that I could use a new laptop. So now I am currently in the process of transferring all my files from my old computer to my new one.I panicked for quite a bit because I thought I wouldn't be able to re-download ace and was going to have to pay for it again but fortunately that wasn't the case!

Anyway once everything is transferred I will start up work on EWBF again! I have a lot to learn in regards to programming and tiles in ace but I'm very excited to get started. I may also upload, in the form of a blog, an incredibly, incredibly rough demo that was created as my final for my final in design.
