Progress Report

Updates!

Things are progressing, though slow. I have a toddler and my wife and I both work full time and alternate childcare. I do have the goal of finishing by mid-august, not including additional testing time.

Graphics are almost all converted. Finding new sprites for all the monsters proved to be the most tricky. Currently working on converting and making new animations. I hired an artist to do all the character portraits that are used in the menus, who is still working on them, but has a few done and I am pleased with the direction.

A few new scenes were written, and a few rewritten, two new towns to explore and a new gorge dungeon have been added. Still need to work on the ending and then my primary concern is balancing- Particularly among the 9 different job classes and their varying availability throughout the adventure.

I redid the world map entirely and implemented a mini-map for it. I am also overhauling how the player interacts with places on the world map.

Back from the dead!

Believe it or not... Beyond Eden is coming back.
I waited a week to say anything, just in case, but work was furiously resumed!
I purchased a license for Rpg Maker 2003 so, Beyond Eden is getting legitimized.
This does mean some extra work as I remove copyrights, but it means that all the time I have put into this is not wasted!
It will be released commercially for a very low cost. I intend to be more organized and candid with my updates and hope to re-release the demo soon to help build some hype. There is a lot of polishing to be done and I am historically not good at predicting release dates, so I will hold off for now; Though I am confident we will see it in 2015.

Update

Work continues at a good pace.
Balancing battles and bug testing, throwing on the polish. Updating the world map. Replacing placeholders.
I also implemented a system that phases out random battles in certain large dungeons.
I was able to mass spell checked the 350,000+ words used in the game and removed all spelling and message display errors.
I'm working on a much better computer now, so I should be able to make a less laggy trailer soonish. Some features may be removed initially (Like the HQ and Mercenary systems), in the interest of finishing the game, but depending on reception could easily be fleshed out and re-implemented for a director's cut type deal.

Dusting off

I'm back in the saddle. Hopefully. Let's get this puppy finished!

Progress Report

Home stretch

I've decided to bite the bullet and just finish it. My perfectionist nature has been working against me, but I've decided I'll never be happy and the only real disappointment would be not finishing it all before rm2k3 becomes completely obsolete. I'm going to rush through the ending and start bugtesting, hopefully with the help of a few kind souls, then flesh out what feels lacking.

Updates!

I'm reworking the deity rings menu and giving it a complete visual overhaul and it's almost done and looking fantastic. In addition, the new menu shows permanent character stats and allows you to see development beyond just equipment boosts.
I've also started to implement a half-created system from forever ago.
New Constitution and Faith stats determine how HP and MP go up at each level and the Hope stat is used to increase other stats at will.

This is pretty much done. I'm other designing the final areas still and adding more tutorials. I'm thinking of redoing the world map because it could be better. Everything else has been updated... More info to come soon.

Back from hibernation

After another long break, I am back to Beyond Eden. I'm doing a few more rewrites and changing the flow of events a little. After that, I have to finish the battle system and make the final area of the game. I have a lot of free time these days so I will try to have it finished by the end of the year.

Announcement

Beyond Eden release date pushed back

Formal statement: The release date of Beyond Eden has been pushed back. I was a fool to guess November. For now, I will guess January. This is a good thing.

Alchemy video demo

As promised, here is a demo/tutorial for the Alchemy system. The video is only like a wekk late! It's finally done and now I can get back to bug testing. (The video has loud sound effects, I'm sorry.)

Progress Report

More Alchemy work

The Alchemy system has been a lot of work, but I kept the code neat and it ended up being a lot less cumbersome than I had anticipated (I have been far too social this week and haven't been working too much). It's seriously coming along though and is gorgeous. I hope to have it done and a video demonstration up tomorrow, though I think my video capture software may have expired... I would hate it if I had to find another program.
I've also been spending some time running through the game and bug testing, which is going very smoothly. The game runs beautifully. It's been a long time since I've played it, but it still surprises even me. I can't wait to share it with everyone.
