While we don't allow theft... this is clearly not a deliberate and/or malicious case of theft.
To be perfectly honest, the window causing this whole issue looks a lot like a mix of the default 2k/3 and Ace window systems mixed together. It's highly generic and most people have arrows like that because they are the RTP arrows...

The gradient is like a recolour of the default 2k3 window.

The actual target window is quite familiar to the one you made, Will, but that's the only thing that looks non-default. Even the font colours are the basic RTP ones (with an edit to the first two).

That said, it might be that the poster where you got the window, jin, may have taken from the project and edited it for their own use then shared it. If that is the case, it's definitely for the best that you decided to change it.

Now, let's talk about something else shall we?

Liberty, I love ya pal, but I gotta disagree.

The arrows are ripped from FF4 PSP, and I edited them to look the way they do, for the windowskin (black wasn't working for me). Easy enough to do, but I'm not gonna whine about an edit of a rip, as far as the arrows go.

The window is a gradient I created to emulate the window it's based on (as shown in the image I provided). The windowskin jin keeps posting attempting to prove it isn't mine is the FF7 style windowskin used in my RSW release. The images I provided show that there were others in the Lite Demo release, which as of three days ago, still had a download up, and all of which can be put together to make the windowskin he's using. It does not matter if he got it from somewhere else and didn't "intend" to steal it. The fact that he still justified it and claimed it was OK after irrefutable proof was given is the issue at hand here. That isn't OK.

That's the default VX Ace windowskin, which as you can tell, doesn't have ANYTHING the same as the ones I made in any of the sections.

Lastly, let's do this. Here is a Windowskin I just made, FF7 styled, with different selections, arrows (FF7 didn't use arrows or a selection space, so I left those pretty generic), and the actual colors used in the original game (at IDs 4, 16, 17, and 27). The window comes in both the normal default color, and the one used for Limit Breaks. The colors are taken directly from uncompressed FF7 screenshots. Use these in your project, jin. These are now yours. Do what you want with them. Distribute it, grant permission, don't grant permission. That's on you.

I have never denied anyone assistance, if I can offer it. I've helped many folks from RMN with a bunch of different things. Without it, NONE of us would be making anything and posting it here. Respect and courtesy have to be a thing, though. Communities like this just won't work without it.

Here's my suggestion to you, jin. Make a credits page for your gamepage. Keep it updated. When you're grabbing resources, take a note of who made it or CLAIMED to make it, and put it in your credits page (and preferably in your game upon release). That's the only responsibility you have as a creator using community resources. This way you avoid "I got it somewhere else, I don't remember" situations if someone contacts you about their resources being used (with your knowledge or without it). It's A) a good practice anyway, and B) helps to avoid confrontations with authors and artists who suddenly find their stuff being used without permission or credit.

Last piece of advice: don't get so aggressive when people talk about your work, whether it be the quality or the resources. I'm not the first person you gave a jerk response to, you also did that to Vanit. "You worry about your game, I'll worry about mine, instead of criticizing you can be releasing a new demo" is not a nice response to someone taking the time to review what you're showing to improve it (it's actually one of the reasons we have these pages to begin with).

I'll say this again; if I can help, I'll help.
You're still going to argue you? You were wrong, okay? I told you I didn't get it from FFD plain, and simple man. Now let's just be friends and move on. Everyone makes mistakes.

And I'm not being a jerk, I am being real. I haven't even released a demo yet I am going to be taught a lesson on what to do, and what not to do by someone who is also creating a 2D FF7. No offense to Vanit, I respect him, and his work, but truth be told he's my competition because he is also making a 2D FF7 game. I love to compete. And don't worry, I do have a credit list, I just forgot to place the guy's window skin, but I am not using it anymore so who cares.

This whole thing was about you telling me to remove the window that apparently belonged to you, but all I said was it wasn't from FFD. I was being honest. I created my own now, so drop it. Liberty is right, let's talk about something else. Besides Will, we are both from BK, we should be friends man, lol.
Not arguing. Liberty said my stuff was mostly default, I wanted to clear that up. You removed it, you stated your source, I contacted him/her privately.

Your game would be better suited using those two FF7 windowskins instead of the one you posted before with the AP resources. It should resemble the original as much as possible.
I want to apologiuze for being an asshole Will, and everyone. I am actually a nice guy. Thanks for all your help thus far Will.
And so this tragic tale of brotherhood and blood has came to its unexpected, heartwarming end. Everyone loves everyone! Such is the power of christmas.
