December 27th. Two days after Christmas Day. The holiday cheer has passed, the presents have been unwrapped, and everyone is ready to move on with their lives. For 28 year old Rachel Heine, this is just another mark in her calender.

Down on her luck, Rachel has been surviving paycheck to paycheck. On the night of the 27th, she realizes that she needs to return an overdue video to the store. In order to keep the overdue fee from climbing any higher, Rachel decides to head to the store that night to return the video.

The Gift is a short form adventure that focuses entirely on the story. There are no battle, no menus, and only minimal amount of gameplay. This game isn't about Christmas specifically as it is about the holiday spirit in general. Completion time is aimed to be under 10 minutes with two endings.

The Gift is here!

Here's a gift from me to you. I hope it was worth the delay!

This game should take no more than 10 minutes to play through, 15 if you want to get both endings. This is the fastest I've ever brought a game from a concept to a working product, and I'm pretty happy with it and hope you will be too. It's also RTP independent, so EVERYONE can play it!

Huge thanks to unity and NeverSilent who have been wonderful testers!

I hope it puts a smile on your face and maybe even provokes some thought! Keep being awesome, RMN!

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong but this is a game about returning an almost overdue video?

I'm unbelievably intrigued as to how you can make than banal concept into a playable game, so subbed!

Yay! Subbed because of nhubi's reason and because it's a Red_Nova game :).

It's returning an already overdue video. To be honest though, the whole video returning part is the backdrop rather than the focus. It's more like an observation of what I've seen people do around this time of year, rather than an actual "game."

Still though, I hope it works out for you!

Edit: Got ninja'd by Cash! I take way too long to make posts. I'm happy to get this kind of attention so early, though!

I'm not gonna lie: When I saw Last Minute Gift, I got pretty jealous inspired myself, so I'm in the same boat as you, Marrend! Though this isn't a "revenge game" anymore.

Thanks for the sub!

Okay, maybe a little jealous. You can tell because of the similarities in the title. I wish I had thought of this! I feel bad, now...

Don't feel bad! I certainly don't XD! And if the title fits the game, then it's perfectly fine! No need to worry about similarities :D

Thanks so much, everyone! I'm busting my butt to get this done by the targeted date. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working out like that. Maybe on the 28th or so.

Maybe on New Years. Perhaps if I hadn't decided to take Christmas off of anything development related, I could have it done by then.

When that gam mak bug bites, it bites HARD!

Anyway, as a short little update that isn't worth a blog: I've got everything except the endings done. Once I do that, it'll be one last round of dialog polishing and then it's off to unity to test. Until then, it's a self-imposed exile from RMN for me. I want to get this done, and I want to get this right. Getting it done is easy. Getting it RIGHT is hard.

Wow, nice progress! I can't wait to test it! Just a head's up, I'll be visiting with folks this weekend, so if it's done before then, I may be a little slow on the testing ^^;;

Considering Friday IS the start of the weekend, I think I'll go ahead push the release date back until Monday or Tuesday. That's good, since it gives me more time to work.

Yay!

OK, I'm subbed and download #6 :)

Since there is no fighting that means I don't have to worry about dying :)
....this.

How should i describe this ?

This game is so beautiful, the back ground musics suits the game perfectly, and also...

The feels! The morale.

And the narrative texts are great, they're awesome.

I've found both of the endings, the good one and the bad one.

So, to cut this short, i'm just going to say that...

This game is a worth-to-play.

Totally recommended.

Man, this game seriously brought me to tears. I probably got the best ending too. I... can't bring myself to see the other ending. At least, not now.
