Jo the Trader

Plot

You play as Jo, some trader from an island. Jo looks Chinese. His goal is make as much money as he needs to leave an island which is surrounded by war.

My opinion

It's simple plot and we can see, that this game (in early version) is nothing more than try from a new RPG Maker fan. The game is made mostly with basic RPG Maker commands, but it fits allright. You can travel between 3 towns and buy/sell 3 different type of goods. Each NPC is selling only one type of goods. I find some quest either. Don't know, if there is more of that (but I wish there is). I played this game for about 3,5 hours, earned enough money, but there is no ending, which makes me little bit sad. But I understand, it's early version.

Dialogs are fine and funny, especially in the first town, which seems like the best, I found other towns more barren. Map design is good, whole game is played just on 3 maps plus interiors. Again, I prefer the first town design. When you start a game, it seems very hard, but after you understand the principle, it became easier (you just have to grow your population through towns, then you can buy stuff for less gold).

My review

For me the game is average. But I take account to early version of game and if it's the first try in RPG Maker, good job. Normally I would give 3* for average review, but I believe in some advance (like more funny dialogs, 1 or 2 towns more, more quests - maybe a little more of story, it can be interesting; war, people, Jo,...) which can extend gametime to 5 hours and more. With this wishes I'm giving here 4* and want some expansion here!
