Dragon Kingdoms Birth of a Legend is part of series made Video Wizard, who I hope takes something from these reviews and tries to improve upon the series.

Gameplay:
I hope you brought an dull axe, because this game is a grind fest (I've been playing this game too long). a nice change from many games is the lack of random battles. You can find all foes wandering aimlessly on screen and you can dodge them at your leisure.

Graphics:
Many art styles come in to play in this odd little game. You'll find your standard VX and XP fodder, nothing really outstanding. The problem there though is that while you and your party will be in XP sprites, almost everyone else will VX. This is either a bad art choice, or your playing as giants.
However the art has one thing going for it graphic wise, the custom made graphics made by the game's maker (Video Wizard). It s a bright, colorful, and cartoony style, it's odd, but it works out rather well on it's own. By this I mean that it looks good in the battles and as a chipset.
The game should have all been done this cartoon style, rather than blending various sprites and the cartoon artwork.

Dialogue/Plot:
The game really suffers in this department. It really fails here. The dialogue ranges from laughably bad to painfully awkward. You should just try to ignore the terrible dialogue.
The plot is likewise odd. Trying to make sense of it is like trying to untie a Gordian knot, up-side down, while jumping rope and preaching at church.

Music/Sound:
Standard stuff here. Nothing really exciting or too bad, despite some occasionally jarring musical choices . The sound effects follow suit.

Characters:
Each one of them is duller than the axe I mentioned before.

Pros: Unique art

Cons: Painfully conflicting map art.
Map errors (Why can you walk on trees?!).
Awful dialogue.

Final Verdict: 0.5/ 10
Take a pass on this game unless you really need to see the art.
