Love the basic RPG mechanics but tired of saving the World? How about Conquering it? Well I'm happy to tell you that's pretty much what Flip Dimensions is about. However, In order to get your hands on the world you live in, you must travel across the multi verse fighting other Dark Lords and prove you are the strongest of the all!

Kazuki is a dark lord who wants to conquer the kingdom of Theiweth, but all his dreams are crushed when a farm boy from a forest village with no combat experience whatsoever destroys all of Kazuki’s evil dreams (Don’t you hate it when that happens?). With help from his right hand butler, Minori, Kazuki was able to escape his castle to live another day. Upon hearing about a legendary item that can grant wishes, Kazuki sets out to look for it still with the evil eyes bent on conquering the world... Only to later find out that the path to his wish may not be worth the effort and that the world he lives in may not be what it seems...

Features
-20+ hours of gameplay.
-Eight worlds, each with their own unique theme.
-Resource-manage physical attacks with a unique TP system.
-Extra endings available through New Game Plus.

Like this game? Check out the demo for the sequel, Flip Saga.

Minor Update and Request

I have recently updated the download link with a new version of the game, nothing special, it's just that I saw my brother play through the game and noticed a handful of bugs and typos that needed to be fixed.

That was about two months ago. I don't remember what most of those specific changes are, unfortunately.

I also streamlined the download page. No more patches or a non-RTP version of the game. I feel like a 600 MB file is a much less tedious download in 2024 that it was in 2016.

But the reason I'm making this post was because I considering making a Definitive Edition version of the game, a port to MZ that could feel more complete as a product that properly concludes some plot threads that I was intentionally (and naively) saving for a sequel.

This version of the game would be it's own page. If it were to exist, I don't want it to replace this version of the game. So I figured I might as well make more drastic changes such as revamping elements of the combat and dungeons. I've been working with some friends on a design documents of sorts that details a lot of the changes I have in mind, but I would also request that anyone currently reading this who has played the game and has their experience fresh enough in mind to make any suggestions of what they would personally like to see, or things they don't want to change. The goal isn't to adhere to all this requests, but to consider them so I don't end up releasing a version of the game that feels alien to the original.

Thank you for your time,
Seacliff

Amazing.

It is, isn't it?
The project had a bug, but there's an easy fixed.

Charge weapons won't recover MP. This was a bug in a script. Try extracting this folder into the game's folder.

And of course, in a minute the downloads will be updated to fix this as well.

Congratulations! Effectively finishing such a large game is a huge accomplishment. I hope you won't be too stressed out by your other work. But I'll keep an eye on the release when it happens.
Just posting here, since I don't think this deserves its own blog post.

The game is virtually done, but I added elements that needed testing (Lots of new weapons). At the same time, I have been hit with a lot of work from both college and my current part-time job, so I don't have time to playtest. I'm not going to be doing the stream I promised until my actual summer break late next month.

I'll release the game in open beta and have players test the new weapons as they please. If they turn out to be overpowered or useless, I'll update the game with those fixes and consider the game fully complete at that point.

The game will be released in the next few days. This version will have the complete story and the new elements I mentioned (will be in the version log when ready). From a structural perspective, the game is complete. I estimate playing the game from start to finish should take about 15-20 hours.

How do you get the Rin's coin in Factory Zero? I don't want to continue and forget about it.

Oh crap. This was mentioned to me before and I forgot about it. :P

I hate to say it, but you're going to have to wait until I update the game when the final chapter it done.

Thanks for the feedback. As for the bug, I thought I blocked off the caves but I probably left one open.

I'll leave that in the bug reports for now.

As for the setting for the last chapter, having the game bleed into reality was the plan from the very beginning, it's been years but it's nice to FINALLY be able to talk about that. :P
Hey, good to see you're back!

I just finished up Chapter 7 and it was rather interesting to see how the story goes!

As for the bug for this chapter, the only one I found was in Cerebral Mountains. When you go after Ilia as Kazuki, if you enter the cave, the game will treat it as if you're entering as Ilia and if you go back out, the map will be as if it's Ilia's side rather than Kazuki's side. Maybe more of a switch problem when you change maps as Kazuki?

It's rather interesting of how this chapter ends:

Kazuki meets his future self as "Star"
and the last chapter takes place in the REAL world.
Admittedly, I was rather surprised. Games where rpg fantasy bleeds into present day reality is a rare sight in RPG Maker games.

Maybe I should replay this game from the beginning again and see everything one more time. The only reason why I don't is because of all the grinding I did on my previous saves...

for those starting from scratch might have to redownload soon. There's a misplaced tile in Chapter 2 that prevents you from moving forward. (Don't know why, but I'll fix that). :P
I finish all i had to do in chapter 6 but there is no cristal in view, nor any indication of the ending of the chapter. minori is healthy, i'm done with everything, i suppose. What do i do now??

To respond to your points.

-kazuki said "thank the goddess"? a dark lord believes in goddesses?
he killed one XD

Are you talking about Clara? She was an angel, not a deity.

-the criticism of the blond girls work is really poor. their points are invalid. (in the sick girls room)

I'm not good with making criticisms myself. ;_; I guess it shows. The fact the book was criticised is what was important anyways.

-its hard to say what the Japanese stance on religion is. at new year they go to temples to pray.
and believe in multiple gods outside that as far as i understand money is god in their culture.

I don't know why this was brought up.
But Takeura is not Japan, it's an alternate world with borrowed culture.

-i like the goddess introductions!

Thanks. :D

-:O minori it hurt! someone will pay! in! blood!

Good thing I made sure you got to do that.

-kazukis not human?! 82 years old!?
hmm oh right there was something about them being different forgot since not playing it together

His age is also in the status screen since chapter 4.
The fact he's not humans plays more importance later on.

-yay! we can use a boat and sail! :D

It's like Wind Waker! :D
Except... there are only four islands...

-the lava going thru the door as you open them was a cool idea

Thanks, but I'm starting to run out of dungeon ideas...

-You can skip talking to the doctor that is taking care of minori and go strait to the earth shrine.
need to add a trigger to stop this.as that scene explains why you go there

Another bug... I'll get to that.

-i can even pretend to understand suphis...he is way too obsessed with his father...especially considering they together for a long time...and somehow he still has a unrealistically strong bond simply because he is his father?

The typos made this hard to understand when I first read this, and I admit I probably made him too depressed at points, but here's my take of it.

It's true that Suphis was never extremely close to his father by any means. However, he does have great respect for him, as he chose to follow his father's profession (music) despite the fact it's not a profitable job in his world.

The main reason Suphis joined Kazuki to begin with was because he wanted to have worth in his life, and helping people (or killing dark lords) is the first (and probably only) opportunity presented to him in the small world of Sineba.

The Joke/Deconstruction/Whatevs of Suphis was to play the part of the typical JRPG Hero that does good for the sake of doing good. While he does have suspicions of his father's existence being in another dimension, he doesn't have an actual motivation to risk his life for people his doesn't really know... and he's well aware of that.

Where I'm getting at with this is that the 'Doing good for the sake of doing good' trope backfired on him. He's told that his father is a Dark Lord, something he has to help kill. Even if he refuses, he knows all too well that Kazuki would still put his desire of World Domination and kill the Dark Lord without him.

I suck at explaining things, but I didn't want to be too specific on why Suphis is depressed, but I can say it has more to do with it than just killing his father.

For example, here are a few things that might of gone through his mind:
-If I didn't join Kazuki, would he make it as far to kill my father?
-Even though I'm doing this with the best intentions, can I harm someone else by progressing since I'm ultimately un-involved?
-I'm not getting anything out of this. Is it worth the price to keep going?
-Will I kill someone else even closer to me if I continue?

I might of not fully justified Suphis, but that was my goal with his character. When Ilva brings up the bit about an existing Afterlife, it gives Suphis hope that any mistakes he'll make later on can still be fixed.

-I don't get the purpose of suphis wind magic puzzle. what is the reason he cant just directly hit the blocks with his magic for them to activate?

I... don't have an answer for that, I guess I'll write up a quick excuse.
For now, go with this logic. i.imgur.com/bJP3o3i.png

-i don't understand the line that goes something like...
"if you cant defeat kamlyn you cant accept reality"
which happens shortly before fighting him

Good thing there's only two more chapters left for me to answer this.

-meds a cruel goddess...shes way more evil then kazuki is o.o

Med's the best.

-The dark drown skill does not say kazuki+med

The limitations of the game's resolution are really starting to show...

Thoughts
This chapter has been a rough ride between glitches and grammar mistakes but that aside.
it was a pretty good chapter. some entertaining dialog, some drama, more plot, new characters and mostly avoidable battles! :D
looking forward to the final 2 chapters!

Hey seacliff. I've been keeping an eye on this game for a good while now, and just now I decided it's about time to finally download and play it. My original plan was to wait for the full completed version, but I figured this way I can maybe help development along a bit by giving feedback and testing for bugs as I go. So, let's give this a try.

Awesome! I hope you enjoy it!
Obviously, this game is nowhere near it's most polished state yet (typos and such), but I'm happy to receive any feedback, Positive or Negative. That said, if the game feels clunky to you even later on, then I won't be offended if you decide to wait until I finish. Excited to hear your thought either way.
