Name: Myriad Cypher

Made by: Marrend, Jeroen_Sol, Ebeth, and Glasses

Premise: Based on the games that made Chris Roberts, it's inspired by Privateer and Freelancer, but this game more closely reminds me of an earlier Roberts game, Space Rogue but the reason for that could simply be the way you dock by just bumping into the planets. Those games had a story line, but you could choose to ignore them and basically just develop your ship.

Story: In this game, you're a refugee who's sent his wife and child on ahead, but you discover the gates have shut down before you have a chance to follow them. If you do missions for various outposts, you may convince them to reopen the gates. The more gates you get open, the better the chance you have of seeing your family again. The goal is to make it to your family.

Controls: Excellent. Your ship turns in place for the left and right arrow keys and your ship accelerates and decelerates with the up and down arrows. It's a shame that this couldn't have been done in a 3D environment. As it is, this makes for more realistic ship control and allows you to more precisely navigate your environment. Ship turning is static so you aren't limited to four or eight directions.

Gameplay: Pretty simple right now. Simply navigate your ship to the nearest planet, accept a mission, check your map and follow the navigation points to your destination. You'll notice that some nav points are inaccessible. Once you've completed a few missions, they will begin to unlock. When you reach your family, the game ends.

Game Status: Technically, it's complete, but that was only to get something downloadable to McBacon Jam. With the developers discussing adding combat, random missions, and other features, I more or less consider this a demo.

Issues: None really, except for the lack of features. Flight control is very nicely done and feels very high precision. You can buy weapons, shields, armor, and engines, even though you won't be using them. What's lacking has already been discussed by the developers. They have discussed adding random missions, unlockable missions, combat, and the whole thing still seems very much like a work in progress. You'll complete this demo in five or ten minutes.

Conclusion: This game a throwback to many of my favorite games growing up and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what they do with it. As it stands now, if I were rating this game, I'd give a 3.5 or a 4 star rating. Once the developers have finished implementing the features they want, it could easily end up being a 5.

Please include Glasses in your "made by" line. It was his scripts that made the controls the way they are!

Fixed. I am so sorry. I do, in fact, seem to recall you saying something about that some kind of way.
