Sacred Reviews: The Bad Lebowski

Introduction

The Bad Lebowski is a strange game in that it's sort of a late entry in the bad adaption contest that celebrated this site's 5th anniversary. As such the game is extremely short and manages to have a total playtime of less than five minutes. And while this makes reviewing the game difficult. It doesn't make it impossible.

Story

The story of this game is rather straight forward. You play as Dude Lebowski and go on an epic quest of revenge in order to get your rug back. And that must be one fine rug if your willing to beat and burn people to death in order to get it back.

Gameplay

The games a rather simple beat'em up, but you can also cast magic for a change of pace. Though seeing as how I disparage taking damage in any game. I opted to just cruise through the game casting fireballs at anything that moved. A strategy that is not only successful, but completely pointless seeing as how the enemies don't appear able to kill you anyway. Because of this the game lacks any sense of challenge and feels rather pointless since it doesn't take any skill or even patience to beat this game.

Graphics

On the positive side of things the game does utilize entirely custom graphics which is something to applaud even if they look like something I could whip up in paint with little effort.

Sound

The game utilizes a few tracks from the movie it's based off of which is a good thing in my opinion. It helps tie this game in with the movie despite it being a bad adaption of the work.

Conclusion

The Bad Lebowski is a rather enjoyable little game despite being heavily flawed. Or maybe I'm just willing to ignore the flaws because the game is extremely short-lived and freely available. Regardless, I'd recommend this game to fans of the entries in the bad adaption contest.
