VERSION 1.3.3
(Current version in development: 1.3.3)

Annabelle finds a strange visitor in her room, bearing some bad news: Beasts are destroying a world under her bed. If Annabelle does not defeat them, they will do the same to Earth. She has two choices: Risk death, or be helpless against it when it comes.

As she fights her way through the four biomes of the “Domi” she will meet four survivors. She needs their help, and they need hers. Your choices will decide their fates.

Adventure, puzzles, turn-based battling, multiple endings. Custom and unique graphics and music. Your actions and dialogue choices decide the fates of the characters you meet.

The Kickstarter failed, backers were refunded, and Qui Domi has gone into a state of indefinite hiatus. However some interest has come back to it from my current audience in other fandoms. I'm releasing the current full copy of the game, including the alpha carnival world. There are unfinished assets, incomplete game mechanics, but, you are free to test it out.

Keep in mind there are a few hours of gameplay before that, as the carnival is the 4th world, there are three others to traverse. I hope you enjoy!

No problem, looks like drama but idk then again good work.
This game shows a lot of promise. I like it a lot!

This is a beautiful game. There's a cute, but dark simplicity in the graphics, especially the tilesets. The portraits and battle sprites are very well done, and the music is fantastic. This is just a very aesthetically pleasing game to me.

It's also very difficult, but it works well here, I think. It makes battles tense and suspenseful, and there's a legitimate feeling of relief when you scrape your way past a difficult battle, especially when you're running low on healing items, and you need to make every turn count.

The only real problems I found are the occasional typo and the fact that the on-screen encounter collision detection is off. You could stand still forever, and the enemies can never actually get you.

I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on this.

One last thing, I'm curious about how you did the music and sound. Is there a certain program you'd recommend for making music?

Thank you for your comment! Also, report any typos to me so that I can fix them, and the encounter collision is due to the monsters being set to a "player touch" activation.

I could change it to "event touch," but the question is, would I want to? It allows you to stand still and heal yourself before entering the battle if need be (and even try to escape), and seeing as this is a pretty hard game for most people, wouldn't that be preferable? If more people think the enemies would be better with the event touch, I will change it.

Also, all sound effects were found on Freesound.org (the sound of the candy wrappers is actually someone biting into an apple! You gotta get creative when looking for sounds). The battle SFX are generally three to five different sounds I mixed in Audacity, with some other edits like reverb added wherever needed.

The music was composed by "Elanchana," and track 1 & 3 by Claude Huggins. I'm not sure what the latter uses, but the former uses a program called Reason (psst, also Penelope's goodbye theme was Elanchana singing).
This is a really good game. Pity it isn't getting much attention over at RMW.

Ooooh! The forums is where I've gotten all of my help for working with the program and scripts. I have a thread for it on that website yeah, but there's not much attention, no. But it got a really nice review from one of the resource staff members.

That was me. :D I tried to mention the game in a few other places there, like the 'Hidden Gems' thread, so hopefully more people will check it out.

I'm halfway the second biome, this game is really great. I think this game deserves more attention; I'm doing a little playthrough on my channel, I hope you don't mind. Can't wait for the full release.

Oooh please do!
Great demo, thanks so much for sharing. I loved the character and tileset design- in fact, the overall aesthetic is wonderful and totally in keeping with the game's tone (a blend of the very cute and the undeniably sinister). The item-based combat system really encourages some tactical thinking in how to deal with enemies.

I especially loved the cut scenes. Utilising the simple mechanic of camera panning across still images was surprisingly dramatic... the beautiful images helped a great deal.

Great work! Looking forward to the complete game!

Oh, just one or two niggling points...

I agree to an extent with Shayoko regarding the laughter sample whenever Shelby speaks (though I didn't find his character annoying)... for me, the sample(s) used for Penelope was MUCH more annoying. Loved the character, however.

Also, do you think that Annabelle should be younger? Given her behaviour and character, she'd be a VERY immature nine year-old, no?

Minor points but wanted to make them.

Some people actually really like playing promising demos, evidenced by almost everyone else in this thread not disappointed by the fact it's a demo because they clearly saw it wasn't completed by even glancing at the gamepage.

True that, but I've seen more immature 19-year-olds if you know what I mean. ;)
Oh, I cannot wait! It looks really interesting!
