VERSION 1.3.3
(Current version in development: 1.3.3)

Annabelle finds a strange visitor in her room, bearing some bad news: Beasts are destroying a world under her bed. If Annabelle does not defeat them, they will do the same to Earth. She has two choices: Risk death, or be helpless against it when it comes.

As she fights her way through the four biomes of the “Domi” she will meet four survivors. She needs their help, and they need hers. Your choices will decide their fates.

Adventure, puzzles, turn-based battling, multiple endings. Custom and unique graphics and music. Your actions and dialogue choices decide the fates of the characters you meet.

The Kickstarter failed, backers were refunded, and Qui Domi has gone into a state of indefinite hiatus. However some interest has come back to it from my current audience in other fandoms. I'm releasing the current full copy of the game, including the alpha carnival world. There are unfinished assets, incomplete game mechanics, but, you are free to test it out.

Keep in mind there are a few hours of gameplay before that, as the carnival is the 4th world, there are three others to traverse. I hope you enjoy!

But it got a really nice review from one of the resource staff members.

That was me. :D I tried to mention the game in a few other places there, like the 'Hidden Gems' thread, so hopefully more people will check it out.

Ooooh! The forums is where I've gotten all of my help for working with the program and scripts. I have a thread for it on that website yeah, but there's not much attention, no. But it got a really nice review from one of the resource staff members.

The only real problems I found are the occasional typo and the fact that the on-screen encounter collision detection is off. You could stand still forever, and the enemies can never actually get you.
I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on this.

One last thing, I'm curious about how you did the music and sound. Is there a certain program you'd recommend for making music?

Thank you for your comment! Also, report any typos to me so that I can fix them, and the encounter collision is due to the monsters being set to a "player touch" activation.

I could change it to "event touch," but the question is, would I want to? It allows you to stand still and heal yourself before entering the battle if need be (and even try to escape), and seeing as this is a pretty hard game for most people, wouldn't that be preferable? If more people think the enemies would be better with the event touch, I will change it.

Also, all sound effects were found on Freesound.org (the sound of the candy wrappers is actually someone biting into an apple! You gotta get creative when looking for sounds). The battle SFX are generally three to five different sounds I mixed in Audacity, with some other edits like reverb added wherever needed.

The music was composed by "Elanchana," and track 1 & 3 by Claude Huggins. I'm not sure what the latter uses, but the former uses a program called Reason (psst, also Penelope's goodbye theme was Elanchana singing).
This game shows a lot of promise. I like it a lot!

This is a beautiful game. There's a cute, but dark simplicity in the graphics, especially the tilesets. The portraits and battle sprites are very well done, and the music is fantastic. This is just a very aesthetically pleasing game to me.

It's also very difficult, but it works well here, I think. It makes battles tense and suspenseful, and there's a legitimate feeling of relief when you scrape your way past a difficult battle, especially when you're running low on healing items, and you need to make every turn count.

Yeah, but if it's a gamepage that was put up a couple of days ago, most likely if there is a download, it'll be a demo, and a lot of the developers I've seen will put "Completed" on it at least when it's finished, and if they don't, people will usually remind them to.

People don't want to put "hiatus" or "cancelled," probably because, in their own minds, they figure they'll get to it eventually or something.

Exactly this. I've personally got some games on the site that are not haitus or cancelled because, while it's been about, oh, 5+ years since I've updated them on-site, I've been working on them now and again. They're still in production, with the intent of being completed eventually.

author=shayoko
true that can work. a good amount of times tho people forget to update that and it sits on development or hiatus when its canceled for example.
1-3+ years in some cases is far too long w/o a proper update :O

Stop it, shayoko. You do this every freakin' time you so much as look at a game that doesn't have a complete tag and it's annoying as all hell. You have been told time and again why people might not update their games but let me reiterate - some people get sick, some people bore, some people DIE, some people continue to work on the project quietly without updates, and some people just disappear. No, we will not be removing their pages. No, we cannot manually tag the games and we wouldn't even if we could.

Quit complaining about it and just deal with it. It's not a big deal - at least you got to play a game you enjoyed and it's your own fault for playing games that don't have the Completed tag. It's there so people know when a game is, gasp, complete. Seriously. Grow up.

I've only been playing for about half an hour, but I've got to say that this game is phenomenal! :DDDD

I love the art, and the various panning pictures you use. The atmosphere is excellent, and your use of music and sounds really works well for it. This all feels really promising! ^_^

Hmm, well I noticed that there were changes to Shelby's form based on what answer I gave him when I was saying goodbye. For Penelope she ended up luring the monsters away from me, "sacrificing" herself to save us. This makes me want to turn back now and see if I can get a better one than that, though. Yay for separate saves

Oh, you went back to get a different ending for Shelby? And yeah, he has two, but technically a loooottt because I didn't want there to be a definitive answer as to what he looks like. Penelope has three endings. Technically six, seeing as there is a version for each for if she has the blanket or not.

I'm actually really hoping we get a chance to see more of Shelby and Penelope again. >w< Their back stories are so sad, I really want to see them have a happy ending darn it.
Oh gosh this makes me wonder what endings you got for them! Each survivor has a few different endings depending on your answers and actions in their respective biomes.

This game was fun to play. :) I enjoyed the music and art style a lot. I also really liked the characters and I hope we get a chance to learn more about them and they're backgrounds, etc as time goes on.

Anyway, it's a good thing when a short game (although this one was a nice length for a demo) can get you attached to the characters and eager to find out what happens next. Keep up the good work!

I do plan on finishing this. When I start a project, no matter the hiatus, I will see it through till the end. That's just my way of life.

Well said! ^_^

And honestly, posting up the demo is the best way to keep me motivated. I'm so glad you liked it Shayoko! Even if Shelby annoyed you, hehe >u<

Yeah, doing demos keeps me motivated, too! I'll try to remember to give this a play-through tonight :3
