I really like the cute look of those walls. This also allows you to have tighter layouts since you don't need to cater for 3-tile-high or even 2-tile-high walls due to depth.
Those maze walls are actually poisonous swamp water (the player could just skip through the maze, but they'd risk easy death and miss all of the treasure).

But yeah all of the tilesets are pretty tight in the way you mentioned :}

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Your art is so insanely good, but your maps are so insanely bad.

I've played some of this game, and generally the maps serve the gameplay, funnily enough.

Having played the game, I respectfully disagree. Many of the maps are, yes, quite simple, but given the sort of story and aesthetic that the game is going for, I think it works quite well. I do think the maps that Koi chose to show off here are not the most impressive. Maps like the two rows of wilting flower buds in the second biome, for example, aren't overly complex but are beautiful and evoke a strong mood, in my opinion.

Just played this map and can confirm, the mapping is functional rather than aesthetic. If you make the wrong move then you will fall into the swamp and become poisoned. So the maze is a challenge, and the simplest way to represent the maze is to remove it of all visual clutter. Kind of like how obscuring elements of a puzzle will make it less elegant and more unfair.
