Store Page Up on Steam!

I've been threatening to actually expose this game to the public for years now, and I've gone and finally done it. It's still going to be about a year before Jimmy's done, but I know it's important to get a Steam page up ahead of time, so here we are.

One thing I'm curious about: I'd like to get my demo up on there, but I wanted to confirm whether or not you need to pay the app fee again and set the demo as a separate app before you could link to it. Does anyone have any experience with that?

Other questions: what are some next steps I should take? I know I should be prioritizing marketing. Should I be sending the demo to publications? Other than tumblr and twitter, should I be doing anything more with social media? Shoot some ideas at me, because it's a big scary world and I'm scared.

Thanks for replying! GOG and Steam are pretty much the two top distribution platforms right now. As Malandy noted, itch.io is also one that has been growing quite a bit recently, although it is slightly different from Steam and GOG where anyone can list their games for sale without having to have their game approved by the company.
Okay, cool. I'm still absolutely planning on checking both of those platforms out, and I'll give an ETA on that as November/December; things are busy for me right now, and I want to focus my "free" time on development right now. So, don't think I've forgotten about this!

I'm a bit late on this, but here are my suggestions:

Game Jolt is another option you might want to take a look at. They're more heavily focused on freeware than itch, but they might still be worth trying out if you want as many options as possible.

There's also the Humble Store to consider. It's probably easier to get on than GOG, especially since your game already has a confirmed Steam release, but could take a bit more work than Game Jolt and itch.

itch is almost certainly the best one of the lot aside from Steam itself though. Also, if you upload Jimmy there you might want to gradually release your freeware games as well (make sure to upload the versions with RTP included) to gain some added exposure before this game's release day. itch and, to a slightly lesser degree, Game Jolt make it very easy for users to follow developers they like in order to get updates whenever new patches/games are released.
I actually have one game up on Game Jolt (The Heart Pumps Clay) and I was a bit discouraged from the reception I got, but I'll keep that in mind. I'm on the fence about releasing my older games on other platforms; I think there are things to love about them, but there's also a pretty huge quality chasm between them and Jimmy, so I don't want to give people the wrong conception of what I'm capable of as a developer.

I'll also definitely consider the Humble Store, but that seems like something I should work towards after the game's been released a while, yeah?
