Your work on the base HUD design is great!

Second, the game truly proves that the RM2k3 battle system wasn't really designed for methodical combat, because as you are so carefully deciding what your next move against a foe is going to be, you are giving the monsters free hits on you. What's worse is that it seems that all monsters have a similar agility stat to one another, which means most of them attack at the same time, and if they randomly decide to gang on an individual party member, that member will take TONS of damage to the point of being an insta-kill.

Please change the battle ATB to "Wait" instead of "Active"; don't be a hero.
Seriously though, most Rm2k3 game should have a disclaimer to change battle system to "wait" as soon as the game starts. (no, I think we can't change it to "wait" in game making mode... not sure).

Sure, "Active" = you can proceed to murder the shit outta the same enemy in succession (wait until everyone's bar full and unleash full attack at the same time or whatever); but in strategy based game, "Wait" is a much better choice.

This particularly hurts when you encounter that blue skull-crab thing that's capable of wiping everyone else in a matter of seconds. The silencing scroll doesn't work consistently enough to be reliable, and the thing has a multi-hit spell AND attacks from its cohorts to spike up its damage. I'm at least glad that losing the battle doesn't result in a game-over, but then you have to replay the entire section again, and when all that happens is that you are repeatedly dying to a cheap boss, the game just wears on your nerves real fast.

Yeah, I admit you have to be a bit savvy with how Rm2k3 status and battle system (including its flaws and loopholes) to ace (some of) the battles in the first try. Mostly about knowing exactly what the spells actually do in battle (ex. increase defense against magic shield thing is pretty good, haste is as usual overpowered) - and which to buy as well as which skill is better than the other (speed). But it is still beatable without that knowledge and this is pretty neat to show what the battle system can do.

I also don't understand why EXP and levels exists in this game considering the battles you face are pre-determined and focus more on using the right combination of abilities at a time. Not a big problem with this game, but it's inclusion is kind of needless.

Well, take it as an example of a custom system showcase, it is a sample game showing the capability of Rm2k3 after all.

To give this game some credit, though... The graphics were nice?

This is an understatement imo.

While I agree with Cadwyn's points on the battle system, I'm afraid I don't have much else to commend this game for.

To start off, the tutorial was kind of introduced haphazardly and you throw in way too much information all at once. I would complain about this less if there was any point in the game where you could refer to the tutorial a second time, but as far as I know you can't.

Overall, due in large part to the game's difficulty and kind of empty plot, this game couldn't hold my engagement for long. To give this game some credit, though... The graphics were nice?
Just played through it, and found it a decent demonstration of the engine's features. It's good to know there's so much you can do outside of the standard attack/magic/item gameplay.
I am stuck on the 2 guys with guns and stuff at bridge

Well, I got a Let's Play for this game completed. I'm not sure how I feel about this title just yet though.

Well it opened and is running thus far so I think the 8% fail has been avoided. I'm going to grab the new RTP sometime soon anyway, just to be on the safe side for the plethora of new R2K3 games I'm sure will be flooding the site. Just hope I don't need a steam account to get it since I don't have one.

I believe it shouldn't need any RTP to play. 92% sure...
