Mystiy Sunrise is the official sample game for the official RPG Maker 2k3 release, it is pretty, cute and actually features a fast responsive battle system that makes it a decent fun game, lasting about half an hour.
It really has battles at its core, so if you are searching for a story-driven RPG - search elsewhere.

The story is in itself simple and progressed slowly, and without anything really to discover. You are a witch and let an animal-into-monster-changing orb loose, so you hire someone to find and destroy it with you. He turns out to have a less-trustworthy past, but they grow a little bit closer and bid each other farewell after a job well-done.
This portion is limited to scenes by the campfire between monster sprees, and you have no active exploration to do in any way - you move automatically through different parts of the environment, straight down, and encounter a chain of monster with a boss monster group at the end before resting again.

The system is exploring a few technical fun things possible in the engine, such as a level-up stat-selection system (you gain points you can use to lvl up passive bonuses), buying different spells for a one-time-use for your witch, well, "crafting" them with the spirit currency enemies drop and different battle aspects.

And that's why I'm doing the review.

The main let-down to this game really is the lack of accessibility to the various abilities possible. It felt almost overwhelming in its complexity. A slower longer or well, "proper" tutorial may have helped, but for the short playtime of the game, it is simply a little too much to try out right away. If used in a longer game, this would not have been much of an issue.

It is an ATB system, and fairly quick, pausing as you select your commands. You have two different skill set-outs with a repeatable attack, limited revives (a few times per fight, tied to a passive skill you can level) and a few specialities to the characters.
The hunter can heal himself a little bit - and will do so after kills automatically. He can also use a stronger attack every now and then, as a bar fills up (the witch has one too but it is easy to ignore).

The witch can use a plethora of scrolls which will disappear after use. As you have enough currency to make many more than you would ever use, this is something you should use and actually becomes fun as you try them all out and see how effective they can be.
The fast pace make it even more engaging, and so does the small HP cap - with limits to ~12 HP or less the tides can turn quickly and you will need to react to it.

There are plenty imbalancies, such as vampiric touch missing constantly after a certain point, many early spells being outdone by the later ones, and your unlimited attack becoming nigh-useless and more. But it still has a nice range to use, as you have a strong attack which gives the enemy haste - so you may try to use it as a finisher move as it is the strongest scroll at your disposal.
Haste is overpowered, as we know it, other beefs feel comparatively weak.

The graphics are simply cute and gorgeous to look at, also showing a transition from one place to the next with enemies mixing with others and slowly becoming more and more aggressive. The only jarring thing was that the background during the last fight was moving very quickly and was a little hard on the eyes.
Music is full custom, too, and made for a lovely frame.

Even with the imbalancies, due to its fast pace and low HP, it is a pretty pretty fun game with a cute frame! I really enjoyed the battles, even if I needed some time to warm up to them, and sometimes had to redo a boss battle as well as I was stingy with my spells.
It is a nice demonstration of what you can do and a cute little game.
