Dule is an entry for the A Golden Week of RPG Maker 2003 event.

I decided to use the event as a chance to develop a small prologue/piece of backstory for another concept that I have floating around, in an effort to reduce development time by telling a story that's not entirely self contained.

Dule centres around a contract taken up by two travelling guides, who must help a mysterious sorceress reach a secluded tower for an unknown purpose. Having left her only child behind, the sorceress seems ready to die for her mission and winds up entangling the two guides in the future of the world- to help save it from a disaster which hasn't even happened yet.

Dule is Completed

May I say...

"first post!"

Dule is complete, after busting my ass for several days in a complete fever of dev. I'm pleased with how it came out, and I had a lot of fun making it. Doing this event really reminded me of why I like making RPGs, something I had forgotten in the haze of trying to make custom graphics AND games at the same time. I'm looking forward to what this nee found motivation brings me in the future.

Well, if you're subscribed to it then you'll find out when it's complete. I'm really pushing for this deadline.
Something's weird here. When I try to start the game it tells me that the RTP is not installed. I doublechecked and even tried running several other Rm2k3 games, it's installed and they all work fine.

You'll need the official English version of RTP. It can be found here:

Well, I got a Let's Play recorded for this game already. Though, my last comment shows how much time I spent reading the game's description on the summary page.
Oh my God Pizza, I can't believe you've finished already lol! I'm still working on my mapping! Will download this and play it once the event is over :).

Thanks.

Oh, and thanks to Lobo for doing the Let's Play as well.

That title image is simple, but the fade to black and contrast make it look so classy and cool! :D
It's great!

Thanks. I was kind of hard to come up with anything BUT a fade out for one of those godawful 2k3 title screens.
Is pretty ok, nothing really outstanding, the only problem I could find was that I could skip 80% of the haunted mansion by walking under the roof

2.5/5
Just finished playing now. I thought it was a pretty solid game. Your use of the RTP was outstanding, especially with the maps! I got a serious case of map envy while playing this :P

I haven't finished it yet, but so far I'm more positive about 'Dull' than Corf was in his review.
I like this 'better slow down, baby' pacing and maps are so beautiful. It looks even better in-game than on screenshots.

Yeah, I agree. My review is pending. This is a very zen experience. I didn't find the lack of complexity in the gameplay very dull. It's quite a well-paced game, and things move along very briskly. If you're looking for a complex gameplay mechanics or a game where you have to use strategy to win every battle, this isn't the game. But what it is is a pleasant experience, rather solidly built from front to back. Nothing ambitious, but it doesn't try to be. It's content to be simple, and that's what I like about it.
