The land of Sumfingrudder is facing trouble! ...again!
But who cares!? There's loot to be collected and monsters to fight!

Random dungeons! Sort of!
With random treasure chests in random spots in random corridors!
Tons of items and equipments to collect, use and equip!
Choose which magic spells to buy for your mage, healer and sage!
Quick level up system and mid-game class change system! (Work in progress)
Plus, some random dungeon events thrown into the mix!

In the same vein of games like Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior III you will create your own custom party!

~ Choose their class!
~ Pick their gender!
~ Give them names!
~ Modify their stats!
~ Give them purpose! :D

9 different classes:

- Warrior > Strong expensive equipment badass
- Mage > Master of elements
- Healer > Heals "R" us
- Monk > The barehand wonder
- Rogue > Quickly steal & flee at the drop of a dime (take the dime too!)
- Archer > "Specialty and magic" arrows galore
- Ninja > Dual wielding everyone's weapons since 1185!
- Bard > Lots of Buffs and HOLY ****! It doesn't suck!
- Sage > Jack of all magics master of none

Quick & Dirty Blog Post

Yes, I am still working on this!

I expect to have a demo ready in a few weeks (but don't hold it to me on that).

By demo... I actually mean as much game as I made so far... you know (or maybe you don't) the old circa 2000-ish RPG Maker demos.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers!

Tried to open the game, and got the error "Cannot open System4," before it crashed.

What's going on?

Do you have the RPG Tsukuru 2003 RTP installed?
It's different from the RPG Maker 2003 RTP.

That's usually what that error means :/

If you do have it installed then it's something else, so please confirm so I can take a look into the issue.

I just got 2k3 RTP installed earlier, not 2t3. I guess there is a difference since I tried to play Her Dreams of Fire an hour ago, but the error message I got straight up told me to get the 2k3 RTP.

I'll happily get 2t3's RTP if there really is a difference.

EDIT: Yes, after I installed 2k3's RTP, I tried running this again and got the same error.

Thanks for the feedback Red_Nova! I've uploaded a new version.

I think I may be using a different version of RPG Tsukuru 2003? Maybe the file names are different and that caused the error.

I imported everything into this new version and changed the RPG_RT.ini file so it doesn't look for RTP, it should work now.
It's larger though (11MB).

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for giving my game a try! ;)
Finished it, It was pretty good, but maybe the random encounters were a bit too high, and you need more starting money, but overall: 3.8/5 good job, waiting for the full game

Thanks for playing my game! :D

In the finished version I'll balance things out more, I'll see what I can do about the random encounters percentage after considering all the feedback I get :)

There's a lot of random stuff in the game to add replay value, random chests, random dungeon events, random stats at start, even what the heroes say in story events is randomized!

I have a few feedback questions for you if you don't mind:

- what level were you when you beat the boss?
- Remember how much money you started with? (it's a bit randomized)
- Did you check barrels, cabinets, crates and stuff to find items in the village?
- Did you enjoy the humour? What are your thoughts on where the "story" is going?
- Did you find the game too hard or too easy?
- What was your party?
- Did you farm the dungeon or had to leave and come back again at any point?

Thanks once again! ;)

I'l going through all the games at the moment, I'll let you know when I try out yours.

I submitted a video, it should be accepted soon, Here is the link to youtube, but I will answer the questions anyway

- Level 3 with all the characters

- 81

- No, actually I kinda rushed through the game because I usually like to explore and take my time, and don't want a video lasting 1 hour, I will play the game again later and try to find more things

- The humor was pretty nice, simple and not forced or "lolsorandom"

- The difficulty was just right, I managed to beat the game without buying many "essential" things, like potions (barely used them, mostly because that's the way I play) or fully equipping my team, but like I said I rushed through the game, normally I would try to level the characters and fully equipping them

- The party was: Warrior, Rogue, Mage and Healer, I tried to imitate the classic FF1 team, next time I play I will try the ninja and the monk

- It took three tries, but I think I did pretty well, thanks for making exiting the dungeon so easy (actually, should change this, maybe making appear the exit crystal every few levels? (Better for harder levels)

Good luck, and thanks for playing my game! (And sorry for my shit english)

Just watched the video, you really rushed through it! :p

The boss almost had you LOL

I was a bit worried when you didn't get any magic for your magic users since they're pretty much worthless without magic.
In the end you used every resource available to you to finish, well done! :D

You can find some useful items and money by exploring the village, but I'll consider increasing the starting money limits.

Too bad you only used "Steal" once, it's a good way to increase money and items, it always works once per battle, the same goes for status effects magic it always works unless the enemy is immune (like the boss), I did it that way to encourage using those.

I didn't have enough time or this version would have one more dungeon, I was going to make an ending cutscene where some more story was revealed and stealing from the boss was going to give a better item but I didn't have the time :/

Your english is pretty good, don't worry! :)
I enjoyed playing this one. Really good use of the random dungeon generator. I did a tiny bit of grinding and the random element really helps with the replayability. I put a fair bit of thought into my party set up and I ended up having the Ninja wreck everything with dual-wielded boomerangs :P.

Would definitely want to play future episodes of this as I really enjoyed the dungeon and your mapping of the town was excellent.

Thanks Cernus! :D
Oh yeah, the Ninja is overpowered at the moment, I'll have to balance things out more.
On one of my test runs I only used one boomerang and still he dominated every battle... unfortunately I didn't have enough time to fix that.
There's also the "randomness" element, every class has it's status randomized a bit at the start of the game, plus you can enhance most status to tip the balance to your advantage, like only increasing the Ninja STR.

Would you mind giving me some more feedback?

- what level were you when you beat the boss?
- Would you say you started with little money?
- Did you check barrels, cabinets, crates and stuff to find items in the village?
- Did you enjoy the humour? What are your thoughts on where the "story" is going?
- Was the Ninja still too strong when fighting against "Deadmeats" and "Gators"?
- What was your party?
- Did you feel the random encounter rate to be too high?

Once again, thanks for playing me game! ;)
I'm still playing all the other games and will provide you feedback once I finish yours, man, I just can't find the time to finish them all right away!

- My Ninja was Level 5. The rest of the party were level 6.
- I did start with a little money but I like how that makes you choose carefully what you spend at the shops.
- I did check all barrels etc. I enjoyed exploring your town.
- I enjoyed the humour. There were lots of little things in item descriptions etc that made me smile. Given the time constraint of the event there was never enough time to achieve a fully fledged story arc. At the moment the story is essentially all exposition regarding their quest so apart from that I'm not sure where the story is going but I am interested in finding out.
-Probably. I picked up a powerful spear in the dungeon so ended up wielding that with a boomerang. I never actually used any of the other party members in battle until the final boss because the Ninja one-shotted every monster party I came across :P.
- My party was Ninja, Archer, Bard, Healer.
- I thought the rate of random encounters was at a good level for the size of the maps and battles never felt like a chore.

I should also say that I enjoyed your mapping. I thought it was very good :).

Man, that ninja, huh? xD
I really need to balance that.
No problem. I enjoyed playing! I must admit that it was quite satisfying playing as the Ninja - I felt quite powerful :P. Looking forward to playing the future dungeons you make in episode 2.
