The RMXP RTP may be necessary to play the game. If you get an error along the lines of "RTP not found" please let me know so I can try to fix it again. Thanks!

Alternatively, if you encounter the "RGSS-RTP Standard not found." error when opening the game, all you need to do is opening the Game.ini file and delete the "Standard" in the "RTP1=" line.

Dear Mariko: Crimson - Released!

After a year, Dear Mariko: Crimson, the pay-what-you-want version has been released, thanks very much to the efforts of @baka-baru, who graciously helped with the game! This version has brand new character and CG art, and an additional short playable epilogue with 4 endings, shedding a little light on the overarching story as a whole, as a stinger towards a future game.

Feel free to think of this extension as a 'tip-jar' of sorts for everyone who has enjoyed the free games I have made so far. All proceeds will partly go to the lovely @baka-baru and to the development of Mica: Apoptosis. Everyone who has donated to Dear Mariko before Crimson's release will get a complimentary copy - just shoot me an email at coren.baili@gmail.com. Please do send all bug reports to that email as well. Thank you all once again for your support!

The Free version includes:
* The full main story
* 3 endings
* 3 CGs

The Crimson version ($0.50 or more) includes:
* Brand new character and CG art
* An additional epilogue
* Double the gameplay
* 7 endings

Hi there! I wasn't getting any problems with the RGSS-TP and all, and managed to arrive at the title screen and start my game! But, then.. when I thought all was well and running.. when the dialogue box appeared and I waited for the text to pop out, nothing. So, I thought it just happened to hang and so I waited some more.. And then, I tried pressing spacebar to confirm that its not working anymore, but the cursor was just working fine. And so, I concluded that there was no text appearing at all. And I've really wanted to play this for some time now! And thank you for the wonderful game! Have a nice day and GodBless! =D

Hmm I don't think it usually happens with RPG Maker games, but when it does it might be a problem with your computer's graphics card. Can you try restarting the game? Hope it works!
Wow. I loved the twist at the end, good work!
Please make more games like this. It's simple, short, but it's interesting and fun to play! It took a little while for me to figure what to do to get the true ending, but I guess that I'm just (a little) dumb haha
Thanks for the comments all! :)
Not bad. Is the game complete? I think it will be more interest if it has another sequel to it. I got a normal ending and a bad ending. Very good twist at the end for the true ending. LOL

Well, I still have to figure out how to get an ending other than normal and bad but
It's awesome C:
I usually don't like short games, so good job C:
That was a great game! I completely forgot that it was supposed to be a super short game. I ended up really surprised after getting the normal end in a few minutes after starting.

It didn't leave a bad impression to me, and the true ending, though quite expected (I started expecting it the moment she picked up the letter), was well done! Good job on the game!
I played your game a long time ago and now I have a game-translating project I'm working on. So if you are interest,I'd like to ask for your permission and cooperation to translate this game to Thai language.

If you have decided to allow me to translate your game,I would like you to give me an unencrypted file of your game.

Please reply to me whatever your decision is.

I'll be waiting for you!1
Really nice short game!

Here are my thoughts on some of the earlier comments...

I didn't find the true ending confusing at all. I felt it was very clear that you were actually playing as the stalker. It also made all of the observational comments make sense ("I wish I could throw these flowers out" etc.)

As for Mariko's actions being confusing when she came in, I felt that the player's perception of her appearance and actions were influenced by the point of view of the stalker. The player wasn't seeing Mariko as she really was or even what she was actually doing, we were seeing Mariko as the stalker saw her. Her point of view was obviously skewed, so who's to say that Mariko even had a knife at all in the true ending? Knowing that the main character is deranged means that nothing in the game can be taken at face value. It makes sense when you think about it that way.
Hey Kirroha, How are you?

I have a small site of RPG Maker games translations.
I translated your game to Brazilian Portuguese.
Here is the BR Ver. http://lordde.wix.com/traducoes#!dear-mariko/chob
Great game, by the way.
Hello there, I have read a bunch of reviews on this game and am very excited to play it. I just wanted to know if it would be okay if my friend and I can make a lets play of your game. thanks for reading my comment.
When choosing over the Yes or No
The box thing doesn't appear. like letting you know which one you choose.
XD lmao. it's so hard to explain it.
I got the normal ending at first and i'll try to get
the other ending. but more or less.
The Graphics and Music is so Good
I enjoyed playing with this game: the graphic part is quite good, but the plot is a little bit too poor and not original at all.

What are you talking about? The plot in this game was great. Maybe you misunderstood it. And the twist was pretty great too.

I enjoyed playing this game, as I said, but in my opinion the plot wasn't that good. Apparently, the plot twist of the true ending (probably the best ending, always in my opinion) was supposed to be shocked, but since I've played tons of horror video-games and I've watched tons of horror movies I was kind of waiting for something like that. It didn't really shocked me. Probably it's just me.
By the way, the sound and the graphic (especially the graphic) were SO good, really good. Whoever made the graphic, it was so good.

You do realize that the graphics are rpg maker xp's defeault tilesets? But if you are talking about the art, yeah I liked that too.

Yeah, them! Some of the arts were really awesome.
Hi Kirroha

With your permission, I would <3 to perform a Let's Play on this game, the artwork and screenshots (particularly the character sprite) looks pretty awesome.

I've done Let's Plays on other titles such as The Witch's House, Mad Father and Ib, so I'm really looking forward to see what lies throughout Dear Mariko! ^_^

P.S None of my videos are monetized and are intended for walkthrough, entertainment purposes only. :)
