Progress Report

A change in development

Hello to all. Just wanted to check and say that I am still working on the game, but due to many life and work issues I am currently being pretty slow in development terms. You know, real life goes first, so things are how they are. I hope I can dedícate more time in the near future because, believe me, I really want to finish what I think will be a great game.

One thing I can surely tell you is that there has been a major change. I have tried the new RPGMaker MV engine and I like it, so I might be leaving VX Ace in the future and start doing stuff in the MV. This game, though, will probably be finished in the VX Ace since I have a lot of stuff done already and I don't feel like doing it all over again.

Also the release date will change to mid-late 2016. I have another project in mind ("An Evil Night") which probably will be released before. I will keep you informed. I think this will be worth the wait since I believe I have thought a very nice and twisting story to keep everybody inmersed to the very end (or I should say ENDS hehe).

Still working, not dead

Hello to all. I know it has been some time since I last updated this. Many things like work, vacations and others have possessed me completely the last couple of months and I really haven't had the time or energy to dedícate much to the game, so there really was not much to comment on.

This does not mean that I have abandoned the project, you can think of it as some kind of hiatus. I hope I can give it more time from now on.

Apart from that there have been many people who have asked me for an approximate release date. I really can't be very accurate on that since I still have some things to meditate on but if everything goes as planned expect something like maybe a demo or similar for December of this year, more or less (as I said nothing accurate, just a guess).

So, finishing, I just wanted you guys to know that I am still working on the game and when I have more progress I can show you I certainly will keep you all informed. Take care! ;)

Progress Report

Menu almost done, some layouts and more

Hello folks! Advance continues, and progress is going forward (slow but steady for now). Here is how everything is right now:

- I'm almost done with the menu. I have decided to dispense a couple of actions in it. No Status button (the Sanity meter will only be shown on the ingame HUD) and no Save button either (Checkpoints will be used for saving). Apart from that I have posted a couple of images showing the Note system (pages and stuff found throughout the adventure) and the Quest Journal.

- Mapping, dialogs and events are currently around 25%, Story 95% (yeah, I have it all more or less figured out hehe). I've also added another image related to gameplay.

Other things are also in progress and testing, I'll keep you all up to date when I have more solid things to tell you. Until then work keeps coming up, so I'll return to it right away. See you around till the next progress blog!!! ;)

Working on Menu and more

Hi to all, sorry for not being able to update in a while, I just keep getting really busy lately at work and have very few amounts of time to work on the game. Anyways, I am still progressing on some things when I can.

One of them is the game menu. I posted a new screenshot in which you can take a first look of its aspect. Simple but different was the idea I had in mind, having 6 command options: Items, Quests, Status, Load, Quit and Title. Not really in need of explaining them all because I think it is more or less obvious what you will find in each.

Apart from this I am working on more maps (some I might show you with some new screens in the next days), events, story, dialogs... a little bit of everything.

Progress Report

Sanity and more progress

Hello again to all. I've been very busy at work lately so I haven't been able to dedícate too much time to the game and updating this, but I did find a moment to keep you informed of new progress. :)

I made a section called "Progress Log" where you can see what I am currently working on. Apart from what appears there I've recently advanced a bit on more maps and events, some new kinds of monsters I will be introducing, and most importantly the Sanity Meter.

This will be an important feature in the game, I'll explain briefly what I have in mind: I uploaded an image of the first version of the mini-HUD the game will have and where the sanity meter will be shown. Its simply a bar which shows the level of sanity the character has Live.

There is a MIN which marks the limit of what Edward can withstand before going absolutely crazy (which will mean game over, by the way) and there is also a MAX meaning he is totally sane. As the meter decreases (motives can be plenty: seeing a freaky monster, being in very creepy places, reading or listening to lets say... awkward writings or terrifying secrets...) Edward will be more propense on suffering or imagining terrible things...

This will be countered by being in nice and peaceful places where he can take a break (there will be some, not everything is going to be horrifying LOL), discovering good and helpful things or maybe even consuming something that might serve as some kind of medicament.

More or less that is how it will work, although there may be some adjustments while I continue building the game.

Welcome to Mussara!

Hi to all!! Welcome to this horror RPG adventure set in the creepy town of Mussara!

This will be my second RPG Maker game, also done in VX Ace as my first one was ("Darkest Dreams"). I intend to make this one in comparison more dense in terms of story, bigger game length, a better usage of inventory ítems, bigger maps with better quality, new features like probably a sanity meter, diverse zooms (as you can see in some of the images I already have posted)... and more things I will tell you about as this evolves.

I will keep informed of progress in this blog, though I am still in a very early fase of production and still have a long way to go, but anyways, I do have some stuff already finished like several maps, some new and nice events, I also have almost all of the game's music already selected, the general story (which will play a lot with the terms Past and Present)... and more.

There is still lots of work to be done, so, for now that shall be all. Stay tuned for more progress and news. Cheers!!
