Latest Patch: 1.69. If you have an earlier version, please download the latest patch as soon as possible.

The download has been updated to version 1.69. It includes all fixes up to this point. There is no need to re-download if you have patched in the fixes separately.

You know that game many aspiring devs create? The one starring their friends, often times based on a chat room, or some forums, or a MMO... or perhaps a fangame that barely resembles its source material. The one that gets maybe a half hour of gameplay finished and is completely unintelligible to anyone except that group of friends. Yeah, that one. Now, what if someone actually saw that project all the way through, and attempted to actually make it a fun, accessible, and playable game that was faithful to its source material?

Enter Legend of Balance. This game originally started out as a fun little project for friends, starring characters from Final Fantasy XIV. Over time, and with a ton of effort, it changed into a complete game of its own. It still stars our characters, and there are still a few injokes, but the plot has been set up as such that any Final Fantasy fan can get into the game and enjoy it as a light hearted Final Fantasy romp. Players of FFXIV will find quite a bit to enjoy as well. The story of the game takes place inbetween the end of FFXIV 1.0 and the start of A Realm Reborn(if you haven't played FFXIV, this part probably doesn't matter, and the game can be standalone).

The game revolves around a group of heroes, champions of the realm of Eorzea. In the midst of an intense battle to decide the fate of Eorzea, the heroes are transported away before facing certain death at the hands of Bahamut. Finding themselves separated in a brand new world, the heroes begin a journey to reunite and find a way home. However what starts off as a simple quest quickly unfolds into a classic journey of crystals, great evil, and steadfast allies. Before this adventure ends, they will discover the truth behind this strange new world, and uncover the binds that tie it to their own home and beyond.

-30 to 40 hours of gameplay, including a multitude of sidequests.

-Enjoy a faithfully recreated Final Fantasy battle system. Everything is as you remember it from the classics!

-Utilize classic abilities, including commands such as Jump, Runic, Blitz, Mime, Throw, Mix, Blue Magic, Dualcast, and much more, along with new commands and abilities based on other games in the series, such as Draw Out from Tactics.

-Equip Magicites to gain access to powerful summons and customize your stat growth.

-A huge cast of unique playable characters, including several hidden ones.

-Find and use faithfully recreated equipment. Favorites like the Ultima Weapon, Illumina, Brave Blade/Chicken Knife, Offering, and much, much more is all here to find and use to become unstoppable!

-Dozens of sidequests ensure there's plenty to do, with no need for excess grinding.

-Face off against familiar foes and brand new ones, including a nostalgia filled bonus dungeon for those who complete the main story.

-Facing a foe that your current party can't handle? Switch party members anytime, even in the middle of a fight!

-Buy rare and unique items at the Auction House, and battle in the Colosseum!

-Take part in minigames, including fishing and an arcade-style airship shooter.

-Customizable Battle Speed, Battle Mode, and Difficulty will get you the experience you want, be it tough as nails or a more relaxed game.

Playing the game at higher resolution

Hey all! I just wanted to post a link to an upscaler that will let you play pretty much any rpgmaker game at a much higher resolution.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/magpie.mirror/

Download this and follow the instructions, open Magpie, then the game, then press alt+F11. I'd suggest using either the Anime4k or CRT upscalers for LoB. This will let you play the game in fullscreen and it will look really nice!

It was an eventing error, and it has been fixed in the small patch update that has just been posted. Thanks for pointing it out!

The latest patch has been updated to 1.42.
I got an error ingame, didn't screenshot it in time, but the wasteland battle background resource is missing. Nothing gamebreaking, I just fought battles on a black background when next to the river on the desert continent.
Hello.
Another question,my memory must be pretty bad but where is
Garudas peak?
again.
@CCM: Do you have the recent version of the game? It should be fixed but if you have an older version, but if you have the newest version (or probably a version after 1.3) we will need to take another look at it.

@Kenlan
Garuda's Peak is north of Enaya (the snow area)
@CCM: I just checked, and that issue has been fixed in recent patches. If you just grab the latest one it should fix the problem. Sorry about that, those trees were set to a different terrain type for the purposes of something later on, but I had just forgotten to give it the right battleback.
Ah, something I remembered just now. I don't know if you fixed it in the newer versions but there are some serious passability issues inside
Cutter's Cry

like walking on walls and ceilings for example.
Hmm, it should have been fixed but I think the Tilesets got overwritten at some point passing between Ashiee and I. I'll fix it and put it into the patch shortly. Thanks!
Latest patch updated to 1.45.

-Fixed an issue where stats were not displayed properly on the level up screen after battle.

Also, 1.44 fixed those map issues you found, Noel.
Good afternoon my friends!

One question:

The prediction of the game was 30/40 hours, I came now to start the challenge (very interesting, by the way) tower in the desert and I am with 10 hours of play. I'm in the middle of scheduled time for the game?

Hugs for everyone and a great day!
Hmm, if you're where I think you are...

Are you at the pyramid? If so you're probably on track for 30 hours of play at least if you do all the sidequests. =)

I do not think so ...

I do not believe it is in the pyramid, are you still got no boat. The site is west of a village (not now remember the name because I'm not in my notebook), which have no access to the port, there is a guard and two sailors blocking the entrance. This tower I am there are two new characters, a paladin and other dwarf (hehe) that his group found that is falling into a kind of trap where you look like you'll have to compete with your group of players against these two, walking around the tower .
For you to locate, it is the second city where there are people applying quests that arrived after releasing the checkpoint which was blocked earlier by four guards and was released when I saved the daughter of the main character of the first city of the game, that mountain.
I play a very quiet way and up a few levels when there is good experience gained in battle, I believe that I am not as far as you thought.

Hugs!
Ahh, cool! Well, everyone plays at a different pace. I'd say you're well on track to getting 40 hours out of the game. I'm glad you're having fun! =)
i have been playing this game +45 hours! now and soon gonna take on the last part ,i think, its really different how people plays games.I always wanna do,see, find, synthesize, everythings possible in 1 game playthrough.
Thats why i like lenghty, meaty games and this is very very good for me in that way.Its perfect in alot of ways i think.

If description of a game that s seems to have alot of things to do and maybe an good/big worldmap says 10hours,i always think its gonna take me +15 hours.

I really dont know how to do all of this games stuff in 30 hours for example but i know its possible for sure.I think Noel..K hit 28.But this is maybe not an discussion in this thread.
No big thing but with the latest patch i still dont see any description of Dancers Dream eater spell.
Is there documentation of people's unique abilities anywhere? Most of them are self explanatory if you've played other FF games, but some of them are a little unclear.

Karina's Runic: Absorbs the next spell cast on your party (including healing spells!) and Karina gains its MP cost in MP.
Kaayu's Trance: Appears to be an attack boost?
Ashiiee's Rage: You lose control of Ash, and she gains an attack boost. She appears to use her abilities at random during this, so with her painfully low MP you can't really afford that. I used this once earlygame and have not since.
Cassie's Pray: Small, free HP recovery to the party.
Doiden's Study: Hit an enemy for piddly damage and learn any Blue Magic they have.
Fievel's Focus: Charge up, and then attack twice.
Miko's Rawr: Miko is one of my party mainstays and I honestly have no idea what this does. By the icon I'd guess a magic defense boost?
Abelia's Bluff: Recovers a tiny bit of Abelia's HP and MP, and boosts her next spell.
Azran's Jump: Jump off screen for the charge time, then come crashing down for pretty big damage.

At least, that's what I've been able to gather.

40 hours! \o/ Good! \o/

Is fun bit! The game is sensational so far, great difficulty, very interesting characters, you are to be congratulated!

I'm playing alongside another RPG, also developed in RPG Maker and also very good, I'm going to close in a few days. So close it'll only play your walk a little faster.

Hugs.
I think a change I made to the skill memu for a character later might have messed that up. I am not home atm but if no one else jumps in I will make a detailed list of special commands tonight when I get home. I will say rq for Miko Rawr is a slight def and magic def boost that stacks twice. Abelia's Bluff lasts a while and can also be stacked 3 times. I will explain the rest later when I am not on a phone keyboard, haha.

@kenlan Thank you for the kind words! I will check out that skill tonight, but what it does is aoe damage, and the damage is multiplied by 5 on sleeping enemies.
Busy with other things so I can't write a whole thing atm, but as for Ashiee's Rage ability, it cuts all her skills by half MP and raises her attack, but it makes he uncontrollable.
I have added detailed descriptions of character commands to the FAQ section, for those who are unsure of their effects.
Good morning all!

Is there any game trailer that someone can tell me, so that I finish playing I can disclose on my blog?

Renovated hugs!
