Latest Patch: 1.69. If you have an earlier version, please download the latest patch as soon as possible.

The download has been updated to version 1.69. It includes all fixes up to this point. There is no need to re-download if you have patched in the fixes separately.

You know that game many aspiring devs create? The one starring their friends, often times based on a chat room, or some forums, or a MMO... or perhaps a fangame that barely resembles its source material. The one that gets maybe a half hour of gameplay finished and is completely unintelligible to anyone except that group of friends. Yeah, that one. Now, what if someone actually saw that project all the way through, and attempted to actually make it a fun, accessible, and playable game that was faithful to its source material?

Enter Legend of Balance. This game originally started out as a fun little project for friends, starring characters from Final Fantasy XIV. Over time, and with a ton of effort, it changed into a complete game of its own. It still stars our characters, and there are still a few injokes, but the plot has been set up as such that any Final Fantasy fan can get into the game and enjoy it as a light hearted Final Fantasy romp. Players of FFXIV will find quite a bit to enjoy as well. The story of the game takes place inbetween the end of FFXIV 1.0 and the start of A Realm Reborn(if you haven't played FFXIV, this part probably doesn't matter, and the game can be standalone).

The game revolves around a group of heroes, champions of the realm of Eorzea. In the midst of an intense battle to decide the fate of Eorzea, the heroes are transported away before facing certain death at the hands of Bahamut. Finding themselves separated in a brand new world, the heroes begin a journey to reunite and find a way home. However what starts off as a simple quest quickly unfolds into a classic journey of crystals, great evil, and steadfast allies. Before this adventure ends, they will discover the truth behind this strange new world, and uncover the binds that tie it to their own home and beyond.

-30 to 40 hours of gameplay, including a multitude of sidequests.

-Enjoy a faithfully recreated Final Fantasy battle system. Everything is as you remember it from the classics!

-Utilize classic abilities, including commands such as Jump, Runic, Blitz, Mime, Throw, Mix, Blue Magic, Dualcast, and much more, along with new commands and abilities based on other games in the series, such as Draw Out from Tactics.

-Equip Magicites to gain access to powerful summons and customize your stat growth.

-A huge cast of unique playable characters, including several hidden ones.

-Find and use faithfully recreated equipment. Favorites like the Ultima Weapon, Illumina, Brave Blade/Chicken Knife, Offering, and much, much more is all here to find and use to become unstoppable!

-Dozens of sidequests ensure there's plenty to do, with no need for excess grinding.

-Face off against familiar foes and brand new ones, including a nostalgia filled bonus dungeon for those who complete the main story.

-Facing a foe that your current party can't handle? Switch party members anytime, even in the middle of a fight!

-Buy rare and unique items at the Auction House, and battle in the Colosseum!

-Take part in minigames, including fishing and an arcade-style airship shooter.

-Customizable Battle Speed, Battle Mode, and Difficulty will get you the experience you want, be it tough as nails or a more relaxed game.

Playing the game at higher resolution

Hey all! I just wanted to post a link to an upscaler that will let you play pretty much any rpgmaker game at a much higher resolution.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/magpie.mirror/

Download this and follow the instructions, open Magpie, then the game, then press alt+F11. I'd suggest using either the Anime4k or CRT upscalers for LoB. This will let you play the game in fullscreen and it will look really nice!

Hello RydiaMist: here I am you youngest follower, I am totaly crazy need some hints if you can 1. Malum Arce tower in F2, 3 days trying to pass the spikes, I have Kaayu as leader, LV 53, speed 45, almost passing the last spike tile I got back to the ladder, how much speed do I need to have?. 2. The Eternity Tower what do I need to enter?, I am supposed to find a dead pirate that is still lurking the place looking for treasures, I walked all the zone outside I am getting bored only killing foes.
3. I can not find the pony for Ashiee town, I re-visited the abandoned mine and did not find him. 4. Kutan, Sqeenix are towns? I want to continue playing and my airplane is almost without fuel, only flaying the world map N S E W doing nothing. :-) Helppppp please
1. You just need to dash to get past the spikes, speed stat has no bearing on if you pass it or not. You can set it to auto dash in config so you do not need to hold down a button to do so.

2. You can get into the Eternity Tower after a certain point in the main story (it is after Malum Arce)

3. Don't worry about it, it's a inside joke. My friend Zyger (he's my friend in real life) has always been obsessed with ponies, he liked my little pony before it became populated with all the bronies, so I joke with him that hes a hipster brony. But yeah if you finish the town he will get a pony eventually.

4. Kutan is a town in the South West content (same content as the Eternity Tower), and Squeenix is in the north west, but note that you need to be at a certain point in the story to actually get to Squeenix.
Tried to download the game but only got a zip.part which can't be used with win.rar or similar.
My firewall blocked the download because of malware.
Hmm, several people have been having this issue, but I have had a few people test and the download is fine for them. I'm not sure what to do, because the game will always need to be contained in a zip file, which it seems like Chrome and Windows 10 like to try and flag as malware.

I can promise you there's no malware in the zip, if there was I am sure one of the 2500+ people who have downloaded the game would have said something. ;;
Have a few questions:

Fafhogg and genesis tree, where are they located?
The Mailing quest any hints on that one?
Silent woods, no idea about the room at the end.
haven't been able to find the last few people for our created town.
also hints and stuff about the legendary fishing guy, and the quy who is nuts and only fishes. The one and the same? If so how do I get through to him.

I know I have more kinda put the main quest on hold and trying to tie up all the side quests. Thanks for any hints or answers.
-Genesis Tree is visited over the course of the story, Fafhogg is in Dragon's Aery, which is a sub-area inside the tree.
-Which part of the mail quest?
-That room is visited as part of the story.
-You may need to advance the plot in order to find more immigrants.
-Legendary fishing guy can be found near the end of the game at Bobe's Rest. He has a sidequest for a character.
-The guy who just spins is just a joke about bots in MMOs.
thanks for the quick response. Btw you should think about a walk through for a game of this length and amount of content. Not needed for the main parts but for all the more hidden side quest and such.

also I get a crash every side quest mini boss, like hunters guild. It just takes me out of full screen and puts it in minimized, with an Okay error. I will try to write it down next time.

PS I haven't played a game like this since about 1998 when the last of the great games were coming out for the SNES. Brings back a lot of memories
There is a FAQ section that explains a lot of frequently missed stuff. A full walkthrough would be quite a huge undertaking, though. ><

You might need to download and install the fix in the blog post, it sounds like it may be that error. Sorry for any trouble!
yea I'm reading the FAQ now it does indeed give a lot of info about some stuff I might have had questions on. Thanks once again. yea I know it would be a huge undertaking, but when done right Ive actually enjoyed reading a good walk through as much as I enjoy playing the game.
@Firefly84, you can use 7-zip to open the .part files. 7-zip also works for other compression formats like .rar and .zip and a host of others too.

I can double and say that there is no actual malware and what's being detected is likely to be a false positive.
Yeah, that's what I was suggesting earlier. Seems like google is flagging you due to size of the file if you were to directly download it from your GoogleDrive, the way around right now is just download 1.62 from the alternate link where it prompts you if you still want to download despite it saying it cannot scan the file due to file size, and do you want to proceed anyway? Just prompt it to download, and you all should be fine, but you'll have to download the patches which those are okay.
Hmm, thanks for the info! I'll have Ashiee update her mirror, so people having issues with onedrive can just use that. Google drive limits bandwidth but I think for the number of people having problems it should be fine.
Ok..so this isn't really a big thing that needs to be fixed in any way...but as a crafter of FFXI, I just had to let you know that the recipe for Rosewood lumber only needs 1 Wind crystal but also needed a Bundling Twine ;)

Aaah~ Seeing that recipe brings back some nostalgic tears to my eyes~
Oh, we were using the XIV recipe for that, I believe. Still, glad you got a kick out of it!
It was the 1.0 Rosewood Lumber recipe lol
Ugh. I couldn't last more than a minute in FFXIV 1.0...beta ><
I shall remain to be proud of my contributions to crafting and crafting knowledge in FFXI instead :D

On a side note...I forgot what the X and Y keys were inside the game...
X is J or Spacebar, and Y is Tab. All the controls are in the readme as well~
*feels like an idiot for missing the big README file that was all in caps*
Latest patch has been updated to 1.66.
-Fixed another crash issue with autobattle.
-Fixed an issue where a NPC would appear for an instant and then vanish in Mielo.
-Fixed an issue where the "Ramuh" magicite was granting the "Alexander" summon.

The main download and mirror have also been updated. In an attempt to avoid browsers flagging it as malware, the game is now contained in a .rar file. You will need Winrar to extract it.
Hi RydiaMist, I had play a lot of games and I must tell you that I am completly crazy with this one, because I like long adventure games, with quests, dungeons and several towns and treasures to discover, now I am going to visit Green Tree, and thinking that I am aproaching to the end of the game make me feel sad, once I finish it, I believe I will play it again in hard mode :-).
