Latest Patch: 1.69. If you have an earlier version, please download the latest patch as soon as possible.

The download has been updated to version 1.69. It includes all fixes up to this point. There is no need to re-download if you have patched in the fixes separately.

You know that game many aspiring devs create? The one starring their friends, often times based on a chat room, or some forums, or a MMO... or perhaps a fangame that barely resembles its source material. The one that gets maybe a half hour of gameplay finished and is completely unintelligible to anyone except that group of friends. Yeah, that one. Now, what if someone actually saw that project all the way through, and attempted to actually make it a fun, accessible, and playable game that was faithful to its source material?

Enter Legend of Balance. This game originally started out as a fun little project for friends, starring characters from Final Fantasy XIV. Over time, and with a ton of effort, it changed into a complete game of its own. It still stars our characters, and there are still a few injokes, but the plot has been set up as such that any Final Fantasy fan can get into the game and enjoy it as a light hearted Final Fantasy romp. Players of FFXIV will find quite a bit to enjoy as well. The story of the game takes place inbetween the end of FFXIV 1.0 and the start of A Realm Reborn(if you haven't played FFXIV, this part probably doesn't matter, and the game can be standalone).

The game revolves around a group of heroes, champions of the realm of Eorzea. In the midst of an intense battle to decide the fate of Eorzea, the heroes are transported away before facing certain death at the hands of Bahamut. Finding themselves separated in a brand new world, the heroes begin a journey to reunite and find a way home. However what starts off as a simple quest quickly unfolds into a classic journey of crystals, great evil, and steadfast allies. Before this adventure ends, they will discover the truth behind this strange new world, and uncover the binds that tie it to their own home and beyond.

-30 to 40 hours of gameplay, including a multitude of sidequests.

-Enjoy a faithfully recreated Final Fantasy battle system. Everything is as you remember it from the classics!

-Utilize classic abilities, including commands such as Jump, Runic, Blitz, Mime, Throw, Mix, Blue Magic, Dualcast, and much more, along with new commands and abilities based on other games in the series, such as Draw Out from Tactics.

-Equip Magicites to gain access to powerful summons and customize your stat growth.

-A huge cast of unique playable characters, including several hidden ones.

-Find and use faithfully recreated equipment. Favorites like the Ultima Weapon, Illumina, Brave Blade/Chicken Knife, Offering, and much, much more is all here to find and use to become unstoppable!

-Dozens of sidequests ensure there's plenty to do, with no need for excess grinding.

-Face off against familiar foes and brand new ones, including a nostalgia filled bonus dungeon for those who complete the main story.

-Facing a foe that your current party can't handle? Switch party members anytime, even in the middle of a fight!

-Buy rare and unique items at the Auction House, and battle in the Colosseum!

-Take part in minigames, including fishing and an arcade-style airship shooter.

-Customizable Battle Speed, Battle Mode, and Difficulty will get you the experience you want, be it tough as nails or a more relaxed game.

Playing the game at higher resolution

Hey all! I just wanted to post a link to an upscaler that will let you play pretty much any rpgmaker game at a much higher resolution.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/magpie.mirror/

Download this and follow the instructions, open Magpie, then the game, then press alt+F11. I'd suggest using either the Anime4k or CRT upscalers for LoB. This will let you play the game in fullscreen and it will look really nice!

Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you are enjoying the game so much! You're getting close to the end of the story, but a ton of sidequests will open up that will give you a lot more playtime. =)

another one, what do I do at JP only, after the airfight battle
I just beat the vulcano. There were to gliches:
- I found a Fire Charm, left or right exit frome the save point - but can't find it in the item menu
- couldn't use a tent on the "Save" point before facing Ifrit.
There's a bit of an issue with the save points that I haven't really been able to solve. You need to just wait until the sound effect/flash have completed fully before trying to use a tent. If that doesn't work step on the save point again. I've tried several times to make it "pick up" faster but nothing has worked. :/
Just tried to exit the Ice-Cave after defeating the white dragon via exit-spell.
Game broke:
Script 'Window_SkillList' line 133: NoMethodError occured. undefined method 'item_window' for #<Scene_Map:0xa956b54>
Sorry about that, that hasn't happened before. The problem will be fixed in the next patch.
Does Stamina have any effect on HP gained on level up? I'm wondering if it's better to boost stamina on level up or if hp +20 is better.
I just quit for tonight after getting in a looping bug while fighting brawlers at A.Lake (where Ninja/Samurai are friends not foes). Level 99 was just revived when hit to counter, but the counter doesn't stop. Snaped out with F12 but the last damage and the battle window still stand in the way...
@ZarethKnyght: Stamina affects your physical defense multiplier and to a lesser extent physical defense stat, and doesn't have any effect on HP gained at level up.

@Firefly84: I'm sorry you keep running into these bugs. I thought that one was fixed a long time ago. Unfortunately I have always had a really hard time reproducing these counter attack bugs. This only happens immediately after being revived? Does Level 99 have a Genji Glove or Offering or anything else that affects his number of attacks?

The F12 issue is an internal RPGMaker thing and not something I can do anything about, unfortunately. :/
Level 99 has a Genji Glove and Black Belt equipped. The F12 key was the only way to brake these bug without braking the whole game, only that the battle window didn't vanish...
Cassi or Doiden revived Level 99, he got hit by a brawler and starts to counter without ending.

I have two aktive Genji Gloves and the items to make two more at this time but not the level.
Yeah, the F12 thing is something I can't fix, the RPGMaker reset is kind of weird. :/

Ok, I'll see what I can do to stop this from happening again, unfortunately it may involve changes to counter attacks because it seems as if the Genji Glove is what is breaking them.
Latest patch has been updated to 1.68.

-Fixed an issue with counterattacks where they could infinitely loop under certain circumstances.
-Fixed an issue where the game would crash when casting the spell "Exit" on rare occasions.
-Fixed an issue where the spell "Reraise" was usable outside of battle.

hey whats the veiwing portal in the interdimensional rift do I keep getting the text saying its some kind of veiwing portal but nothing else happens...
You'll find out soon! Where you want to go is behind that, there's a teleporter.
Question:
I paid the dwarf to repair the brigde to squeenix castle, but I cannot enter.
Was it perhaps a mistake not to volunteer as squeenix soldiers in the past - not possible any more.
In the dragons nest you can fight for a dragons grip but the reward shall be a protect ring???
Not exactly game related, but I couldn't help but notice the fact that the current in-game seasonal event in FFXIV darn near canonizes a lot of the plot ideas in LoB.

Essentially, in the (silly) event your character meets Yoshida and he (and the rest of the dev team) are portrayed as extradimensional beings that tinker with the world behind the scenes.

Now I know the event is more meant to be a nod to the Developer Rooms of earlier FF games, but LoB kind of plays with the same idea, so it was fun to think that it could fit in with actual FFXIV.

EDIT:
@Firefly84: If you can't enter, you just need to come back a bit later. I might need to add something clarifying this.

You can't actually volunteer, the characters just say they'll think about it to get the emperor to stop bothering them, so no worries, you didn't miss anything. =)

That's a coliseum error, several items were renamed and I forgot to rename that fight I think. It will be fixed next patch.
Playing it wiht a lot of pleasure, i have to admit it!
It's a funny game, with good characters. I think, as many others do reading previous comments, that probably there are too many PGs to pick up from.

I am in the past and finding my way inside the cave to the Mothercrystal. My set is: Aeth, Cassie, Abelia, Level 99 at lv.46/47. My strategy is pretty straightforward so far and it's very effective. Aeth is dual wielder with the genji glove and in the off hand i equipped the blood sword. This way, with the right spellblade he's always at max hp (9999 damage, 999 healing with the first hit and something around 1500/150 with the second) and dealing very good damage. Cassie spells Libra, Protect (the party is phisically "light"), Shell and the spams cure magic. Abelia hits hard with magic and Level 99 after mugging deals around 10/11k damage with multi attack techs. Never lost a fight so far, but i guess I am a little grinded

The game itself looks a little too easy because allows a fast grinding without any real effort. I would add more monsters with status effect magics to make it a little more challenging. It's just my opinion, anyway,
