This is my first review, hope it turns out good :P

Before I start my review, I'd like to point out that I've never used any version of RPGMaker, and this is one of the first RM games I've played.
(also, I don't know if this will be with reviews of the full game, but just to be clear, I'm reviewing the demo)

Ok, Here goes nothing.

Graphics:
I don't know how much of this game's graphics (if any) are custom, but I like the style very much.

I could be picky about some aspects of the graphics, but, to tell the truth, I really enjoyed the graphics. In my opinion they were very cohesive and the maps were well made.

Story:
I didn't find the story to be anything spectacular, but it was a decent enough story.
(I realize the story is probably a little lacking because only part of it is in the demo, but what I said still stands, at least for this part of the story)

I really liked most of the cutscenes, the character's expressions and animations were used well, and they were fun to watch.
The reaction command during some of the cutscenes were a nice touch, I'm glad the game let's you save before them though, because I wasn't very good :P
I think the suprise/exclamaton animation was a little over-used though.
(I wasn't sure if I should put this under graphics but I decided it better fit under story.)

From what I remember, the dialog was ok for the most part, sometimes better, sometimes not so good. I can' remember any specific examples of bad dialog, but there were a couple of times were it just seems kind of stale.

Gameplay:
The biggest part of the gameplay is the combat mechanics, I don't know the limitations of rm2k3 in regards to real time combat, but here's my take:
The combat system was well made, not just some randomly put together junk.

However I was constantly annoyed by the fact that I had to move a whole tile (RPG style) to change direction, I know you can turn in place with the shield, but it wasn't convenient enough to use most of the time and I couldn't use the shield when hitting ghosts with my lantern.

Ideally this would be best with pixel based movement, but it would work a lot better as a tile based combat if you could attack in any direction with your sword (or lantern) without moving or using your shield.

Also if there is an animation when placing a bomb, it needs to be more noticeable.

Combat system aside, the game plays pretty well.
I like the equipment selection in the menu, but I think it would be better if you first could chose between "equipment", "save", and "quest items" in a traditional menu, instead of taking you to the equipment menu right away, and making you read the fine print to get to the menus for saving, or you quest items.

Sound:
I actually wasn't paying much attention to the sound or music, but nothing stuck out to me as below par, so I'd say the sound is pretty good.

Overview:
Graphics: Great
Story: Could use some improving, but decent over-all
Gameplay: The combat system is ok, but a bit frustrating, menu could use a few tweaks
Sound: Good

When all's said and done, this is definitely a game worth checking out, it may not be your cup of soup, but no game can make everyone happy.

I give this game a 4/5 and I hope that the final version will be even better

I forgot to mention that I liked the puzzles for the most part.
The first one should be a little more obvious in my opinion though

damned quick-time events.
this game is most playable game i have played here from many months. gAMEPlay is so nice. You should tell about those super animations here and many more advantages.
Just finished the demo and I was pleasantly impressed. It's quite a charming game...you made your own graphics and animations that were at times surprising such as when the hero comes out of a cave and covers his eyes! There were things in this game I have only seen in more professional games and scarcely in rpg maker games. The fishing animation in Chapter 1 along with the panoramic water with the clouds reflecting set a strong start and a great impression for me. Top notch game mate, one of the most enjoyable rpg maker games I have played in years!
