Loved this game!

***This review might contain spoilers or hints about the storyline of the game.***

I finished playing "You and I" with my sister a few weeks ago. Overall, I admired the game for it's charming characters and interesting storyline. It is entertaining and it doesn't take long to beat it(but you will miss the characters when it's over). Due to the fact that the player can view the game from either main character's perspective, it was definitely a game worth playing through more than once.

Fermat and Victor made intriguing, fun protagonists for the game. Victor always did or said something unexpected and interesting, while Fermat was the snarky, cynical type of character who made negative remarks throughout the game.
Both were hilarious to play through the game as, but the most intriguing part was how their relationship developed.
They seemed to like eachother sometimes, but there was also an underlying theme of uncertainty, furthered by the mysterious plotline that you don't understand fully until the ending.
The two characters seemed very close by the end of the story. This game definitely showed a lot of character development, which is always something I look for in games because it is the main thing that gets players attached to the characters.

The gameplay was simple but entertaining. It had a standard RPG Maker menu layout which allowed the player to save at anytime; This is a feature I particularly liked because it is very convenient and it is surprisingly rare to find as a lot of RPG Maker game developers remove it.
Each character (depending on which POV you play from) comments on their surroundings, leading to some short bits of entertaining dialogue.
A great addition to the gameplay was how the battles played out.
There were several battles, but they were not tedious and frustrating every time, due to the monsters being at a lower level and the player being of a high one. I often find that battles are long and tiresome in RPGs, so it was a relief when this game was different.

You and I's art was stunning and unique. The characters were expressive, relatable, drawn neatly and fully colored. The landscaped/maps were not confusing or overly-complicated; Instead they were easy to navigate and visually pleasing to look at.
All music and sound effects were well-incorporated and only added to the game's appeal.

During the game, the plot was left rather mysterious so the player doesn't have much information about the characters or the story, however it unfolds itself in a well-timed sequence, dropping hints about what is going on here and there. This was definitely a plus for this game, because it was revealed slowly enough that the story wasn't given away but quickly enough that it was interesting and left the player wanting to see what happens next.
Even though it was a short game, the story was not rushed and was definitely worth it to play through.

Overall I absolutely loved this game. It was rich with lovable characters who had interesting personalities and played mysteriously intriguing roles in the story. Even the villains were a little hard to dislike.
It is visually appealing, fun and interactive enough to get into the story without doing too much work. I definitely think this is a five-star game because I couldn't really ask for much more; heart-warming dialogue, original portraits and CGs, tone setting music and a fun story all mix together to make this a great game.
