Vampires are creatures that live amidst the darkness of eternal night. They have absolutely no regard for human lives and treat them like stones to be kicked away.

One night, a girl was running in a forest while being chased by three bandits. Then a black-clothed man passed by and subsequently took them down easily. The girl, who thought she was saved by him, wanted to repay him and thus invited him to her village.

......The man, who was actually a vampire, smiled and accepted her invitation. After all, the more prey, the merrier......

Nocturne: Rebirth (月夜に響くノクターン Rebirth) is a popular 10 to 20-hour (story-wise) dark fantasy JRPG originally created using RPG Maker XP in 2009 by Shou (or Cogwheel) and translated into English by me, eplipswich. It is actually the remake of the game Nocturne created using RPG Maker 2000 way back in 2002. The differences between the two include new graphics and a new battle system, with only the story virtually unchanged. This version serves as the English version of Nocturne: Rebirth. It is also my second game translation after Seraphic Blue.

Nocturne: Rebirth is notable for
- A highly original ATB battle system
- Touch-based enemy encounters
- Slick battle animations
- A highly versatile character levelling system via skill upgrades
- Unique Familiar Summon System
- Almost 100% custom graphics
- Characters that players can sympathize with
- Unique soundtracks
and so much more!

Japanese Trailer (Will make an English trailer in the future):

Latest Blog

Blog 18: Boy, has it been a while. 10,000 downloads and what's been going on

Well, first of all, this is late, but better late than never. Nocturne Rebirth has officially become one of the big boys of 10k downloads, so congrats on that!

So if you've been wondering what has been going on, I'm still translating the visual novel called Aiyoku no Eustia, so once again, if you're interested in that, you can check it out at https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/16982-aiyoku-no-eustia-translation-project-partial-patch-is-out/

Then what about the RPG Maker scene? Remember what I said before about the game Hat World/Hatalonia at http://rpgex.sakura.ne.jp/littleworld/? Well, a revamp of it just got released about 7 months ago, with the latest version just released last month! I'm currently playing it, and I'm really enjoying it! Truly, I feel this game deserves to be translated. But I will only most likely embark on translating this game after I'm done playing it and I'm substantially done with translating Aiyoku no Eustia, so it'll be a long wait. Hopefully you'll see a game page of Hatalonia here next year! So do look forward to it.

So yep, that's really it from me for now. Till next time!

I somehow cant launch the game in fullscreen...

Try going to config. at title screen and select full screen?

If it doesn't work, press Alt-Enter.

How to kill khaos. It's so difficulty when he use calamity spell.
@uman99: Actually, you should be able to see the Calamity/Meteor Swarm spell coming. When you see either one of them coming, guard at all costs. Or else you are sure to die (especially with Calamity). And the thing is, Khaos will only use Calamity once, so once you can survive Calamity, the rest should be manageable.

Thanks for the answer!
Alt and Enter works... Cause the option via title screen doesn't...

@eplipswich
I want to ask one or two thing.
1. Will there will be Nocturne 2?
2. Are there any e-book of walkthrough of this game?
Please answer..
1. No word from the developer of a sequel, so yeah, like J-Man said, don't think there will be. Besides, I think the Nocturne story ended pretty perfectly.

2. There is a walkthrough online, but it's in Japanese. If you don't mind using Google Translate for that walkthrough, here's the link: http://www16.atwiki.jp/nocturnerebirth/pages/79.html

I may create an English walkthrough in the future, but let's see how it goes.

But it would be awesome if there any nocturne 2 home coming.
And Khaos back to life and with three ancestor, Reviel and Ristill came to fight devil lord or something.
I have another ask to you. What script used in this game?
@umam99: Um, a custom script made by the creator himself? I don't think it has a name, though.

@GoldenMyth: If I'm not mistaken, for the option via title screen, you have to close and launch the game again for it to take effect.
I've got a question about brave clearing Khaos, I've brave cleared him twice so far (seen the brave clear reward pop up at the end of the fight). After that i watch the cutscenes+credits and then im straight back to the title screen without actually being able to save game (to keep the brave clear item and go to bonus room to get new game+)

Is there something i am missing? or am i supposed to reload the save i made just before fighting him and go somewhere to access the bonus room?

i hope we didn't have to brave clear everything for it cause i actually didn't know about it at the first dungeon (khao's territory).

so yeah... replaying the whole game for one brave clear missed is really not sounding too fun....
@ChaosRagnak: Yep, you just have to reload the save you made just before fighting Khaos and go somewhere to access the bonus room. To get a hint of where to go, check the item glossary under Dictionary in main menu, and look for the Brave Clear reward item. The description of that item will give you the hint :)

And I'm pretty sure of this, but you don't need to Brave Clear everything to unlock the bonus content. Just the final boss Brave Clear will do :)

This game was awesome. Can i edit language into my own language.
If you allow it, please send me a PM.
THANK
@eplipswich
Thanks for the hint.
one thing i noticed, if i remember, aren't one or both of the revival feathers given for brave clearing a boss? I can't remember if I got 1 or 2 of them from brave clears, because getting into the bonus room kinda requires them from the absurd amount of damage done by the "gatekeeper".

other than that, what do you actually keep in new game+? (currently leveling familiars lol)

on a funny note on my part, for the whole game, up to Khaos, i thought Brave Clearing was being under the level shown in the dungeon.... not at the level or under... so i guess brave clearing should be way easier second time around for me lol xD
@ChaosRagnak: You get to keep items, including equipment and familiars' core objects and sorceries. All others will be reset, including money and levels.

But remember, you have to unlock New Game + first. To do that, you'll have to defeat the optional boss Round 1 (Brave Clear Level 40) or Round 2 (No Brave Clear). Talk to the guy that looks like Khaos to challenge the optional boss. Round 2 is unlocked if you clear Round 1 (doesn't matter Brave Clear or not).
Just unlocked new game +. (via brave clear)

Do the other optional bosses give items ? I did another one and he didn't give me anything, so I'd like to know which bosses give weapons/armor so that I can get them before doing a new game plus.

Also any tips on what to do in order to equip the weapon you get from brave clearing the 3 girls ?

Edit :

Just remembered I read the sword was for Serena. Now the question is how do I get her. Round 2 I presume ?
@ vynzs: Unfortunately, that weapon is not for equipping. It's just an item to show that you beat the optional boss and to unlock New Game +. So winning Round 2 is just for the sake of completion and pride.

There were actually plans to allow characters like Khaos and Idith to be playable in your party for the whole game, but I guess those plans were long scrapped.

And there aren't any more optional bosses besides the leader (mask guy) and the three girls.
Is there a New Game Plus? I mean can I can keep money/exp/items or anything?

I finished the game, awesome game btw, very enjoyable, thank you very much. I found a recipes I think in the final dungeon but
AFAIK Khaos is the only one who is able to help with alchemy and he is unavailable by that point.

Also is there a cheat or anything that can help with increasing drop rates? I couldn't use alchemy that much, barely had any drops, I did get an increase drop rates almost at the end but would like it a lot sooner if at all possible.

Edit: Derp, I just read the above posts, which talks about NG+. Sorry.
But I still would love an answer about the drop rates.

Edit2: So I looked at all the items in the Manual-> Item Glossery and I don't have any Brave clear reward item, no hint at all from what I have.
I did fight Khaos again like ChaosRagnak said in his post but no changes still, only thing that shows that I beat him before is I can fast forward the conversation with him and that's it.

This is what I have after reloading the last save after credit.

@Amon: It looks like you haven't Brave Cleared the final boss looking at your item glossary. You need to Brave Clear the final boss to get something on the item glossary that will unlock access to the bonus room, where you need to defeat an optional boss to unlock New Game+. This means all your active and reserve party members must be level 35 or below before fighting the final boss and defeating him to get the final Brave Clear item (this does not include familiars that aren't summoned).

And you can do alchemy even when Khaos isn't around. When you go into his residence, you should see something at the top right of the room.

And nope, there aren't any cheats to increase drop rates. The rates are actually pretty low, so to speak.
Got it, thank you. Yggdrasil took a little while to get another one but I unlocked it. Thank you very much for the game and the help.

For the drop rates, I checked the wiki you posted and in the Recommended Tsukai magic page, the White ball (light) and Spirit ball (light), is that an increase in drop rates item or magic? I don't think I encountered those yet.

In this page it also mentions a Treasure Hunt skill I think for Familiars only, does that increase drop rates? I didn't get it yet and can't make it thru Alchemy yet, if it does, I think I'll try grinding for those a little bit to get them before moving to a NG+.
@Amon: Treasure Hunt is called Gold Hunt in this English version, and that only increases Mel (that is money).

And the "Recommended Tsukai magic page" is actually the list of recommended familiars lol. White Ball and Spirit Ball are actually White Rabbit and Spirit Rabbit, and those are familiars.

That being said, yep, White Rabbit and Spirit Rabbit have a passive skill called "Loot Rise", which increases drop rate by 30% and 60% respectively. I'm sure you have White Rabbit and Spirit Rabbit Core Objects by now, right? ;)

And if I'm not mistaken, the loot rise percentages stack.
Yeah, fortunately I already have both of them.

Sorry for the many questions but a final one if you don't mind. Do the bonus from the rabbits apply even if they are not in the active party or only applies if they are in the battle?
If I'm not wrong, they just need to be summoned, but if you want to double confirm, you can test out their Experience Rise skill and see if being in reserve or active makes a difference (unlike Loot Rise, you can definitely tell how much experience you gain for a battle). But one thing I know for sure is that they definitely need to be summoned.

If it works with Experience Rise, it definitely works the same with Loot Rise.
