Vampires are creatures that live amidst the darkness of eternal night. They have absolutely no regard for human lives and treat them like stones to be kicked away.

One night, a girl was running in a forest while being chased by three bandits. Then a black-clothed man passed by and subsequently took them down easily. The girl, who thought she was saved by him, wanted to repay him and thus invited him to her village.

......The man, who was actually a vampire, smiled and accepted her invitation. After all, the more prey, the merrier......


Nocturne: Rebirth (月夜に響くノクターン Rebirth) is a popular 10 to 20-hour (story-wise) dark fantasy JRPG originally created using RPG Maker XP in 2009 by Shou (or Cogwheel) and translated into English by me, eplipswich. It is actually the remake of the game Nocturne created using RPG Maker 2000 way back in 2002. The differences between the two include new graphics and a new battle system, with only the story virtually unchanged. This version serves as the English version of Nocturne: Rebirth. It is also my second game translation after Seraphic Blue.

Blog 18: Boy, has it been a while. 10,000 downloads and what's been going on

Well, first of all, this is late, but better late than never. Nocturne Rebirth has officially become one of the big boys of 10k downloads, so congrats on that!

So if you've been wondering what has been going on, I'm still translating the visual novel called Aiyoku no Eustia, so once again, if you're interested in that, you can check it out at https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/16982-aiyoku-no-eustia-translation-project-partial-patch-is-out/

Then what about the RPG Maker scene? Remember what I said before about the game Hat World/Hatalonia at http://rpgex.sakura.ne.jp/littleworld/? Well, a revamp of it just got released about 7 months ago, with the latest version just released last month! I'm currently playing it, and I'm really enjoying it! Truly, I feel this game deserves to be translated. But I will only most likely embark on translating this game after I'm done playing it and I'm substantially done with translating Aiyoku no Eustia, so it'll be a long wait. Hopefully you'll see a game page of Hatalonia here next year! So do look forward to it.

On a unrelated note, have you been checking up on Hat World lately? Looks to be a couple new worlds to explore this time! :D

Yeah I have haha. I remember Enu saying 9 more dungeons/worlds to go or something :p

I think the remake is going to be slightly bigger than the original.

I insta-killed the Dinosaur boss. I think he's the only boss who can actually be insta-killed by death based attacks like Death Claw and Reviel death eye thing. :P

Hello, thanks a lot for translating this nice game,
I have a problem ^^; even though I have installed the 2 fonts in the folder I
see no text in the game.
Can someone help me with the wind tunnel part?
(The part after you talk to Khaos after fighting in the Forest of Origins)
I can't get past the running water. I've looked all throughout the tunnel and found nothing.
@gabranth, flirion: Make sure you play this game with your computer language in English. If your computer language is in Japanese/Korean/any other language not related to English alphabets, problems will occur.

@bob: You have to get back out and go to the house that you see in the Hill of the Cross. A cutscene will play first before that. Then inside the house, there should be someone who will give you the item you need :)

@J-Man: haha nice job discovering that! But perhaps you'll make a video fighting him the normal way as well?
I see, I'll change the computer language then.

Playthrough Highlight #1

Jesus christ, I went through the Teiwaz Valley and got to the boss. About half way through the battle, the last of my familiars were killed. Which left me solo. So I switched to the Falling Star formation and proceeded to go to town on the rest of the fight with just Reviel. At the end of the battle, I broke the boss' charging spell with Ray Wing, killed him in that moment, then got another turn before the Elite Hunter and killed him with High Blast.

It was epic. And I was at Brave Clear level.

Edit 2: Randomly...I wonder why Cogwheel changed the event CGs? In the trailer, you can see that Ruruga originally drew them, but in the final game, they got changed out. Curious.

Hmm event CGs as in the ones in the battles? Because yeah, the battles in the trailer look slightly different from the ones in the final game (that, and some differences in the familiar set up menu as well).
I think he probably drew up some better looking CG when he made them, same when he originally had just one normal face for Reviel that wasn't on gallery when you beat it.

On another note:
I hate that optional battle where you battle the four Ristills. >_<; The video I'll be uploading, I'm not proud of it, lemme say that much, ha ha.

I meant the ones showed throughout the story. Such as the scene between Idith and Reviel standing back to back at night, etc. The final ones were done by a completely different artist, but in the trailer, you can see that the artist of the character faces originally did the story scenes too.

Ah, you're right! I didn't notice the difference at all until you mentioned it. I thought they were the same all along haha. "facepalms myself"

Anyway, from what I understand, Show/Cogwheel only mentioned approaching an artist for creating of scenes at the last minute, but nothing about the change in scene graphics. So I'm clueless there. Maybe he likes the final scene graphics more/thinks the final scene graphics suit better?

Just go deeper into the dungeon and you'll eventually arrive at a place where you'll have to solve a puzzle to get to the red chest (it's actually near the end of the dungeon). By the way, before all that, there's a door where you have to activate a switch, that is, step on a tile to open it. I think that's probably where you're stuck at.

And...by the white chest, I think you mean the white crystal? If that's what you mean, then yeah, it's as I mentioned above.

The fight with Shylphiel while doing the Brave Clear is hard, and very long, easily the longest battle in the game with the many phases she goes through. But now all that's left is one mini boss and the final boss

Well, on both sides, there are puzzles to be solved in order to progress. One of the two sides, in particular, acts as a detour to get to the other side of the gap. Reading those tablets/inscriptions might help.
