Vampires are creatures that live amidst the darkness of eternal night. They have absolutely no regard for human lives and treat them like stones to be kicked away.

One night, a girl was running in a forest while being chased by three bandits. Then a black-clothed man passed by and subsequently took them down easily. The girl, who thought she was saved by him, wanted to repay him and thus invited him to her village.

......The man, who was actually a vampire, smiled and accepted her invitation. After all, the more prey, the merrier......

Nocturne: Rebirth (月夜に響くノクターン Rebirth) is a popular 10 to 20-hour (story-wise) dark fantasy JRPG originally created using RPG Maker XP in 2009 by Shou (or Cogwheel) and translated into English by me, eplipswich. It is actually the remake of the game Nocturne created using RPG Maker 2000 way back in 2002. The differences between the two include new graphics and a new battle system, with only the story virtually unchanged. This version serves as the English version of Nocturne: Rebirth. It is also my second game translation after Seraphic Blue.

Nocturne: Rebirth is notable for
- A highly original ATB battle system
- Touch-based enemy encounters
- Slick battle animations
- A highly versatile character levelling system via skill upgrades
- Unique Familiar Summon System
- Almost 100% custom graphics
- Characters that players can sympathize with
- Unique soundtracks
and so much more!

Japanese Trailer (Will make an English trailer in the future):

Latest Blog

Blog 18: Boy, has it been a while. 10,000 downloads and what's been going on

Well, first of all, this is late, but better late than never. Nocturne Rebirth has officially become one of the big boys of 10k downloads, so congrats on that!

So if you've been wondering what has been going on, I'm still translating the visual novel called Aiyoku no Eustia, so once again, if you're interested in that, you can check it out at https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/16982-aiyoku-no-eustia-translation-project-partial-patch-is-out/

Then what about the RPG Maker scene? Remember what I said before about the game Hat World/Hatalonia at http://rpgex.sakura.ne.jp/littleworld/? Well, a revamp of it just got released about 7 months ago, with the latest version just released last month! I'm currently playing it, and I'm really enjoying it! Truly, I feel this game deserves to be translated. But I will only most likely embark on translating this game after I'm done playing it and I'm substantially done with translating Aiyoku no Eustia, so it'll be a long wait. Hopefully you'll see a game page of Hatalonia here next year! So do look forward to it.

So yep, that's really it from me for now. Till next time!

Also, for the limit barrier element,

a hint is that a non-elemental skill is required to break it.

You don't actually need to break his limit barrier to beat Khaos, though. But I agree that it definitely makes things a lot easier. I don't want to reveal the answer directly though so that it won't be so simple, so good luck! :)
"A highly versatile skill-cum-character leveling system"
.....What does cum mean i mean i know what cum is but that makes no sense to me.
Also anyone know if enemies respawn?
I encountered the following error during the Forest of Origins boss battle.

Happened when I tried to use Eye of Toxin, it crashed immediately the first time, but when I tried to reproduce the crash so I could report the error here I had to use Eye of Toxin twice for it to happen, so I'm not certain that's what causing it.

Haha I think I meant to say leveling up characters via skill upgrades. I'll change it now.

And yes, enemies do respawn. Just go to another map and return to the same map.

Hmm this is new. Thanks for the bug catch! I'll look into this.
Ok so i have played some how ever i do have a few questions that i hope someone can tell me.

What is the brave lv thing i see when i enter the first area it says Brave lv 6 now i looked it up and only found a little hint and that was something about new game plus and needing to not go over the brave level.

So to unlock new game plus i must never go over the brave level am i right?

Also anyone know how new game plus works like are enemies harder, better drops, etc?

Sorry if I'm bugging people i just kind of also want to know if going over the brave level will also change the story or is it just for new game plus?
@ryan7251: Well, you only need to Brave Clear the final dungeon. But that's only one of the criteria for unlocking new game plus. You need to also find a secret room and defeat the optional boss there to unlock new game plus (after clearing the game, that is).

New game plus is similar to new game except that you get to keep items, Core Objects and Sorceries. It's more for completing the Item Glossary under Manual in the main menu if you're a completionist.

Also, going over the brave clear level won't change the story, but you won't earn a bonus reward for not clearing a dungeon under brave clear level.

EDIT: Oh yeah, actually, now that I think about it again, you only need to Brave Clear the final boss.
I thought only the final boss had to be Brave Cleared to reach the secret room, though it's good to start Brave Clearing early to get used to being underpowered.

Not sure how to feel about brave levels then i love that you give a reward for playing at lower levels however did not make it so you had to (You know by making non respawning enemies i hate not being able to level if need be)
But at the same time i hate being locked out of items and content (I don't know about items if they are one time items or not) But if the items can only be gotten by brave leveling it i don't know how to feel.
I know it does not matter but i would have still made it possible to unlock new game plus/ get brave items just made it harder like maybe make the items a rare drop from some end game enemies and maybe make it so there is a "Key" you can get to get to unlock the secret room and defeat the optional boss. Maybe you have to pay a very high amount for it or something but that way it's not locked out content.

PS: plz don't that that as a insult so far the game has been fun.
I think many of the Brave Clear rewards are obtainable as rare drops from normal encounters, though a few bosses have unique rewards. I think the Forest of Origins boss, the 1st boss of the final dungeon, the final boss, and the bonus boss have unique rewards.

As a tip, if you want to farm rare drops without overleveling your familiars, organize a list of which ones you want to take to the next boss and which ones you want to use for farming. It helps that each new dungeon usually has better familiars, though I did use some of the healing specialist familiars beyond the dungeon I found them in.

Played some more, and it seems the issue isn't restricted to that particular boss battle since I got it during another one. It's only Eye of Toxin that causes it though.

Okay, I solved the bug. Apparently, this bug occurs only on enemies that are immune to poison. I will release a new patch and update the download accordingly soon. :)
I have a question about summoning Familiars.

So there is an Option to either "Summon" or "Ex" or "Release".
What is the difference between "Summon" and "Ex"? I can see higher familiar HP for "Ex", but no apparent downsides?
Thanks in advance :D

Yes, there is a downside. Reviel's Max HP is reduced by 5% per familiar summoned as "Ex". It's restored back to normal if the familiar dies.

May not be so much of a downside though if you know how to manage Reviel's HP well.
Thanks for the quick answer! I realized that that info is actually available in the game as well (Manual -> System Manual)...

I have another question though, couldn't find anything through Googling so far.

I got the sword "Alhazard" and it reads "An ominous but mediocre sword. A key to something...". I'm not sure when I got it, I would guess after defeating Shylphiel. Anyways, I am not sure, whether it's used for something in the story or if it's an extra secret thing. Can you help out?

Edit: I actually just thought of another thing.

There is this Battle Formation called "Moonlight" and it literally only increases stats on the screen. I find this odd, because every single other Formation always takes something away in turn for increasing stats. So I want to ask if this could maybe be a tooltip error? Or is it as good as it says it is? :D
@iLikeRPGmakerGames: For the 1st question:

Nah, it does nothing, actually. That description is just for show.

For the 2nd question:

Yes, it is as good as it says it is. That's why it's an endgame formation :)

EDIT: @Xemeth: Lol ouch. Sorry to hear about that...
That moment when you get everyone to 50, and you just learned that in order to get to new game+ you have to brave clear. @_@

Edit:
I'm guessing if I use that item to reset my skill tree. it won't lower my level eh?

Edit2: Ha! it does!, but now the Familliars I like are level 50. -_-

Edit3: Do I need to brave clear the final boss to unlock the optional boss? I swear I looked all over for the scret room. @_@

Edit3: Do I need to brave clear the final boss to unlock the optional boss? I swear I looked all over for the scret room. @_@
Here is how:
You have to defeat Khaos in Brave Clear and then in the secret room you talk to the one who looks like Khaos, but his name is "Free" here. Then you can either defeat the enemies he presents in round 1 with Brave Clear lvl 40 or you can just defeat them in round 1 with higher level and then defeat them in round 2 with any level. So either of these options will unlock the new Game+.
Alright! thanks for the answer! I'll be working on trying to beat him now. xD
@Xemeth: Oh yeah, you can actually use skill reset item to not only reset skills, but also levels as well. Of course, that only applies to Reviel and Luna :)

EDIT: Oops, didn't see the Edit2 :p
I swear that every time I'm close. They start picking on Luna! coming at her with 3 attacks in a row. @_@

Edit: So I found the secret room... but now I have a problem.

There's a mage that keeps one shotting me... I bravecleared the final boss, and got apocalypse, but I have no idea on what to do here. xD
