The Dark Eternal

Dark Eternal is the direct sequel to the original feature-length RMXP game, Dissolution and begins in the immediate aftermath of the 'Dissolution Pact'.
Separated and confused, Nahla is rescued by "Brian" and nursed back to health in Northern Nikotha. Mysteriously immune to the dark plague, 'Pesuto'; they begin a journey that will bring Nahla to the heart of her ruined homeland and to the brink of sanity.
Zenogias, now awakened to his true identity, makes a pact with Desala; Travel to the Heiken Seal and restore equilibrium, allowing for the separation of the realms.
Follow Zenogias and Nahla's separate journeys as they slowly become intertwined in a complex tapestry of illusion, lies and Betrayl.
This release features 45 hours of total gameplay.

I have been playing through Dissolution again to refresh on the story and get a clear file to use in Dark Eternal II. However I keep getting "Script Hanging" errors when trying to open the item menu or equipment menu. Any advice or addressing these errors? If not am I missing out on anything really important or interesting by not having a clear file?

I have not honestly booted up Dissolution on Windows 10 yet to test compatibility, but I know that it worked on Win 7. My only advice to you is to try setting compatibility on the .exe file in the install directory.
Use Windows XP Service Pack 2, run in 640x480, run as administrator, disable enhancements.
I do plan on remastering Dissolution in the near future, but it will be after I release Dark Eternal v1.1 later this year.
However, I have no problem providing you a clear file to use if that's all you are trying to get. Just e-mail me (hakuzen@gmail.com) or join discord https://discord.gg/qpjJYvT and I'll respond with the file you need.

I believe this is something on your end as I and others have tested the full download link multiple times over the last few days and nobody had the problem you are having.. Maybe try a different web browser?

You were right! It worked with Chrome, but not with my Firefox... weird.

Just downloaded the game but when I tried to run DE2-Setup.exe I got the following message 'error reading setup initialization file'. Tried running it in various windows programs but the same message appeared. It is a pity I cannot play this as I enjoyed the first game.

I just downloaded the file from the site and tested it and it is working.
I have heard of this happening once before, and they were able to fix it by downloading the file using a different web browser. I would give that a try.

Hi,
Your game looks polished, I hope you're doing good with debug. I just wanted to give you a friendly player's advice : in the case when you have a lot of debug, it might be to your advantage to upload smaller patches with an opened source game, and then encrypt your game when everything is done (or you don't expect new bugs before a long time).
As it looks now, it must be long for you to upload 500+ MO for each update, and it's long for some of us to download.
Otherwise, good luck on your next game :)

Yes, the amount of bugs has definitely been a surprise.
Every chapter was thoroughly beta tested on initial release, but unfortunately a lot of engine upgrades and design choices made in Chapter VI had downstream effects for earlier chapters that I did not anticipate.
That being said, we seem to have come through the other side and with people now reaching Chapter VI, which has been vigorously tested most recently, I believe the patches/updates will come to a near halt as I begin preparing for the massive v2.0 update planned for 2021.
Every chapter was thoroughly beta tested on initial release, but unfortunately a lot of engine upgrades and design choices made in Chapter VI had downstream effects for earlier chapters that I did not anticipate.

How are you trying to open the game?
You should use "Launch Dark Eternal.exe" found in your start menu or desktop. If you cant find the shortcut, you can find it in your install directory as well.
