Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland DLC now available!

Wow, talk about not meeting deadlines, right? Some of you might remember that I annouced a Legionwood expansion pack, way back in late 2010. Although it ultimately ended up being cancelled due to hard drive failure, I managed to recover some of its assets a few months ago and, rather than doing the logical lazy thing and recycling them for Legionwood 2, I decided to piece them together and release the resulting mess.

So then, this is the Legionwood expansion I promised all those years ago but never actually delivered? Well, not really. But it's still a pretty cool addition to the Legionwood world.

Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland is an expansion pack/DLC for Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords. Featuring a huge new story dungeon set in the midst of the game's chaotic fourth act, as well as a considerable number of all new optional endgame quests, a revised final dungeon and over a dozen new Techs to learn, it expands the original game's playtime by at least three hours and adds several long awaited features to game, including a graphical world map and quest journal.

The main addition in Mysteries of Dynastland is the titular Dynastland dungeon, which takes place between the Sealed Library and Lost City Crebt areas in Chapter 4. This sprawling dungeon crawl is filled with new enemies, puzzles and challenges to test your skills against, and also reveals the never-before-seen backstory of Zanthus and his long lost homeland as your party searches for the mythical Purity Crystal, an ancient Precursor artifact rumoured to be able to manipulate time itself.

Other notable additions to the game include 12 brand new Techs, including unique Techs exclusive to certain characters, a new set of powerful Dynastland equipment, a late-game "scavenger hunt" quest that will take you to the furthest corners of the world, a complete overhaul and rebalancing of all late game content and an expanded final dungeon with a new, harder version of Castoth to fight -- in both the normal and "true" varieties. Overall, it pretty much turns the final act of Legionwood into a completely new game, which was one of my main goals as I was always rather unhappy with how rushed that part of the game turned out.

Anyway, if you're itching for some new adventures, you can grab the DLC here. Simply point the installer to your Legionwood directory and extract, overwriting files when prompted. In order to experience the new content at the appropriate difficulty level, I recommend either starting a new game or loading a game that was saved before the Sealed Library, though most of the new content except for the Quest Journal can still be accessed otherwise.

Check out these screenshots to see some of the new locations in the game:

And with that, I'm off to work on Legionwood 2 again. Happy adventuring! :)

Hi jnf1985,

1. That's a good idea! Unfortunately I lack the scripting ability to do that but I'm sure someone else could do it for me if I made a request. As for the long winded nature of the cutscenes, I'm well aware of it and have been for a while. I'm incredibly busy at the moment, but I've been meaning to go through the game and rewrite the entire script. It would take a lot of time though, which is the problem.

2. I wasn't aware that Study Enemies only works once. It's based on a switch event, so it should really work as many times as it is used. However, I will look into testing this and also adding a HP counter that unlocks after using the Tech. Regarding the Piruette Tech, that's simply a matter of me changing the effect of the Tech but not updating its description. I can't believe I didn't notice it!

3. Red Collar guards you from Critical Hits. ie. it prevents enemies landing them on you. Buffs also do not stack. Each time you use the buff, it is a once only 50% increase of the attribute. This is why they only last for 3 - 5 rounds. 50% is actually a significant increase and, late game, can make your attacks extremely powerful, so it's for a short period only. Seriously, for a character with an Attack of 100, Sharpen would increase it to 150, which would make an average damage value of say 800 increase to nearly 1500! It's especially worse with Quick Thinking.

how can i beat the rift manifest??and how many HP is this guy??i think i hit him 1,000,000,000+and i cant still beat him!
I went to teh sewers benath upperothorne and got the wedding ring, but the old man in the pub won't accept it, he just keeps saying the same thing.
edit: nevermind, turned out I had to give it to an old lady in one of the houses.
Is the version stated on this website the latest one?
Because after visiting a few forums, I swear i read enemies were tweaked to make
them a bit easier, and enemies later on harder.
For example, when i was in the forest near the beginning, after getting washed ashore
from the ship, i encountered a bear monster, well actually 2 of them.
They both used cripple and instantly killed 2 of my characters, and considering i didn't have an Angels tear because of the cost, i had to make my way all the way across to the save crystal, which i couldn't, because i fought another bear, and it insta killed my other character, the only one it didn't kill in one shot was my tank :o
Also, is it just me, or do enemies dodge like 50% of my attacks :o
Any tips?
The version on this website is indeed the latest one. The enemies have been tweaked as much as possible, but there is a warning on the main page of this game's profile that it is a hard game in general, as that is my personal preference.

The way you spend AP actually contributes a lot to how difficult you will find the game. There are ways to make the game harder for yourself, like neglecting to spend AP on Defense or Evade. And the enemies aren't dodging 50% of your attacks. It seems you're just having bad luck. They all have an evade chance of 10% on average only.
Oh right, thanks for the clarification!

If you decide to make another version, I have a long-time bug for ya: the very first inn of the game. If you rest there, but decide not to save the game, the screen remains black indefinitely.

I remember first draining all it's SP. Then I used the consumables that increases all your stats and started to whack away. Even with that, it toke me over half an hour to defeat it.

i try this one and yeah the screen remains black...
@Natsu_Luffy: Yeah, he has an extreme amount of HP. When I fought him, the battle took nearly two hours. You don't have to beat him to win the game, he's only a challenge for the players who've mastered everything else.

@JMK: You know what? All these years and nobody reported that! I'll have to fix it! Thanks so much for telling me.
very good rpg game i ever played

Why when I try to install the game, it says 'Program too big for memory' or somethign like that
Hi EmperorAlan,

That sounds like an issue with your PC's memory. Try shutting down some applications or restarting and see if Legionwood works then.
Hello Dark Gaia. Can you make a cheats for the game? i find the hard to get max AP fast.
@Dark Gaia at Magris academy when you talk to Seirno if u talk to him from left/right side the screen stays black and nothing happens. (works fine if u talk from below him) @Animefangurl19 if you wanna cheat dont ask the creator of the game, download cheat engine or something instead -.- and for those who ask rift manifest's hp: Rift Entity HP: 519.736 Rift Manifest HP: 445.118 (so that will take long...)
