Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland DLC now available!

Wow, talk about not meeting deadlines, right? Some of you might remember that I annouced a Legionwood expansion pack, way back in late 2010. Although it ultimately ended up being cancelled due to hard drive failure, I managed to recover some of its assets a few months ago and, rather than doing the logical lazy thing and recycling them for Legionwood 2, I decided to piece them together and release the resulting mess.

So then, this is the Legionwood expansion I promised all those years ago but never actually delivered? Well, not really. But it's still a pretty cool addition to the Legionwood world.

Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland is an expansion pack/DLC for Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords. Featuring a huge new story dungeon set in the midst of the game's chaotic fourth act, as well as a considerable number of all new optional endgame quests, a revised final dungeon and over a dozen new Techs to learn, it expands the original game's playtime by at least three hours and adds several long awaited features to game, including a graphical world map and quest journal.

The main addition in Mysteries of Dynastland is the titular Dynastland dungeon, which takes place between the Sealed Library and Lost City Crebt areas in Chapter 4. This sprawling dungeon crawl is filled with new enemies, puzzles and challenges to test your skills against, and also reveals the never-before-seen backstory of Zanthus and his long lost homeland as your party searches for the mythical Purity Crystal, an ancient Precursor artifact rumoured to be able to manipulate time itself.

Other notable additions to the game include 12 brand new Techs, including unique Techs exclusive to certain characters, a new set of powerful Dynastland equipment, a late-game "scavenger hunt" quest that will take you to the furthest corners of the world, a complete overhaul and rebalancing of all late game content and an expanded final dungeon with a new, harder version of Castoth to fight -- in both the normal and "true" varieties. Overall, it pretty much turns the final act of Legionwood into a completely new game, which was one of my main goals as I was always rather unhappy with how rushed that part of the game turned out.

Anyway, if you're itching for some new adventures, you can grab the DLC here. Simply point the installer to your Legionwood directory and extract, overwriting files when prompted. In order to experience the new content at the appropriate difficulty level, I recommend either starting a new game or loading a game that was saved before the Sealed Library, though most of the new content except for the Quest Journal can still be accessed otherwise.

Check out these screenshots to see some of the new locations in the game:

And with that, I'm off to work on Legionwood 2 again. Happy adventuring! :)

I need some help, I have asked this question on Facebook as well, actually first cause I didn't see these posts down here, but I thought I would ask here to see if I might get an answer faster, I am really, really into the game right now. So here is the question. When I try to learn new techs from the mystic in Hawkshire this comes up "SyntaxError occurred while running script" and the game stops. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do.
Okay, first of all, do you have the DLC installed? For some reason, it may be interfering with some scripts earlier in the game. The Hawkshire Tech store normally has no issues.

If you do have the DLC installed, try copying your save file into the base game, buying the Techs you want and then installing the DLC again.

Also, pressing F12 to reset the game may cause issues like this.
This is an great game; Did you know that there is now a 100% Freeware version of RPG Maker VXAce? It is for the Free Development of "Non-Profit" Games only, tho.^^ lol
RPG Maker VXAce Lite
I "Pirated" the Full-Version; I only make "Non-Profit" Free Games anyways. But, I'll Install this Free Edition if I ever need to get a New Computer, someday.^^ lol

One of the cutscene triggers must have not worked for some reason. Just try using the party change item and see if you can refill the two vacant slots.

Thanks that worked happy days :)
I DL'd this game today and I've loved what I've seen, even though it hasn't been much.... I just got out of the first town and I get to the field next to it, but the game crashes when a battle begins... I really want to play this game so I was wondering if this was a problem with my DL or if this could be a bug? (probably the first) I'll try and e download it right now though.
Nope... still crashing... even started a new game... man I hope someone can get back to me soon.
Not sure why this could be happening, to be honest. There's never been a bug reported in the battle scripts.

Try this: if you're playing without the DLC, add it to the game (it patches various things which may help) OR if you do have it, try playing the start of the game without it (some people have reported that it may break some scripts earlier in the game).
Yep -- just copy and overwrite when prompted.
I have encounter an error playing Legionwood with the DLC installed.

I just reached Hawkshire and after staying at the Inn and upgrading my characters armor/weapons went to the Tech Store. I spoke to the main teacher and said that I was interested in learning a tech. When I selected yes I received the message "SyntaxError occurred while running script"

I have played through Legionwood previously before the DLC was released. I did not experience this error during my first play through.

Is there a work around for this error?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi, I have a slight problem and I didn't know where else to ask. I was getting my butt handed to me in the werewolf portion of the game, so while I was given the Wolf Hunter quest to kill the zolom, I continued into the cave to find a save crystal to heal up. Unfortunately, this created a "point of no return," which I didn't know before I saved.

Now I'm unable to complete the Wolf Hunter quest, as the quest giver simply remarks that he's glad the werewolf is gone, and doesn't respond to the fact that I have zolom meat. Will this lock me out of being able to do the superboss since I didn't complete all quests? If so, is there any fix?
Hello! I'm just wondering if anyone here can help me with an error in the game, if you guys don't mind that is. The error is that every time i use the orb of origin an error happens and the game exits on its own.

The error says:

Script 'Wij-SceneTreasure' line 45: No MethodError occured.

Undefined method 'screen_x' for nil:NilClass

i tried installing the DLC but nothing happened.
I suppose I could also report a bug, even though I know you're not working on this anymore. The battle items "stinger" and "hellish hide" appear in the out-of-battle inventory, but are not present in-battle and are, thus, unusable.

Edit: I'm getting the same error as Peace_Keeper when I try to use the Orb of Origin. Unfinished script?

You should have a key item that will explain the AP system. I cannot remember the name of the item.
When distributing your points try and have an idea of what role you want your characters to fill. For example, Do you want the character to serve as a mage or warrior.

In Legionwood, skills are known as techs. You can learn techs from tech stores located in towns. I would highly recommend you learn Study Enemies. This will tell the weaknesses of your enemies. This is very handy during boss battles.

EDIT: I made some additions to this post as I originally sent it from my smartphone.
