Update

Against emmych’s wishes, I’ve uploaded an update for the game. A lot of unfinished content was cut, as the writing was not done, which makes this update mainly bugfixes, updated graphics, and a few new things. If you played the contest version it’s pretty much identical, just slightly more polished. There’s quite a lot that I did, but can’t re-use for any future projects, so I didn’t want it to go to waste. Plus, it's about the one-year anniversary.

The only other updates will be for game-breaking bugs anyone reports, or something egregiously bad but not necessarily game-breaking. Both versions are open projects, so feel free to crack them open and see how things work or use my art or whatever you want.

Edit: Since someone asked, I'd prefer if people didn't do let's plays or make videos of this game.

Isn't it bad form to release something against the co-creator's wishes?
Yes, highly unprofessional and unethical. Great reason to not work with me.
And thanks for releasing this. Yummy ~

This seems very much unlike you. In the past, you've seemed very in tune with respecting people, especially in regard to emotional matters.
@unity & Ronove: Straight up this falls in line exactly with Penta's usual MO. They would do shitty things to me all the time to elicit reasons to feel bad about themself. They said upsetting things to pick fights, and then talked about how bad they felt so I wouldn't have room to be upset and had to focus on comforting them instead. I am 100% sure that's what's happening here since yup the timing is incredibly suspect for Reasons and yup the way they responded to you, Ronove, is very familiar to me.

Basically, don't bother engaging. They WANT a negative response, so if you don't give them one, they will eventually move on to something else.
I said that because it's honestly how I feel. (Like, yes, I know this is unprofessional, unethical, damages my professional reputation) From my side of the table this is yet another example of you making a whole lot of assumptions about why I'm doing something or what I want. There is no usual MO or ulterior motive. I didn't say that to pick some sort of fight or get a response out of anyone.

I'm more confused with the initial statement itself. If you knew this was "highly unprofessional and unethical" then why do it in the first place?
Because I'd already put a lot work into it before I stopped talking to emmych and I didn't want to see it go to waste. I'm not really invested in whatever reputation I have, either. Like I said earlier, this is a great reason to not work with me and that's honestly how I feel. I mean, for context I've already abused emmych, this is no secret. People have plenty of reasons to think poorly of me regardless or whether or not I finished something I'd already worked on.

And as an aside my self-esteem is a-okay right now, again there's no ulterior motives or attempts to get anyone to do anything. If someone asks a question, I'll answer it. Not trying to defend myself or excuse anything here.

Well, thanks for the warning, I guess? I really did want to work with you at some point, but if you're openly admitting to be abusive to people you work with, then that's good to know.
This is probably not how I would want my gamedev career to end, if I were in your shoes.
Either I'm honest and upfront about it, or it's some non-secret that'll follow whatever I do. I don't really consider it an end to my gamedev career or anything. I'll keep making stuff, and some folks won't want to associate with me or anything I do.
