Beloved Rapture is a game that takes place amidst an epic conflict, though its heart is most deeply concerned with the intimate human relationships of its characters.

Personal and interpersonal stories take center stage. Characters challenge not only the next looming dungeon boss—but themselves, and their own demons.

Existentialism, spirituality, family trauma, LGBT themes, and friendship are all important elements of Beloved Rapture's story, and are treated with the reverence they are due.

Johan, an introverted young man from the countryside, finds himself thrown into a conflict beyond his comprehension. The Aeons—an enigmatic religious faction—move ever-closer to his hometown.

Now faced with a threat to his once-elysian way of life, Johan must contemplate the role he is destined to play in their escalating conflict.

At his side are Aiden, the mysterious son of a Shrine caretaker, who has trained since childhood in the mystic arts; and Crystal, a runaway noblewoman intent on ending the war before it reaches her family.

Through their travels, Johan is intrigued by Aiden's increasing fascination with him, as well as the appearance of Draco, an Aeon soldier with a connection to his own mother.

Small Retrospective + Old Screenshots

Hey all!

We're back to development full-throttle now that we've reached out Kickstarter goal! Feels pretty fantastic to be so reinvigorated with the game, after a bit of a lull period. :D

As we finish BR during the next 12 months, I thought it'd be cool to take a moment and reflect on the project's long history. For the sake of nostalgia, I'd like to keep some of the images from the classic freeware game saved here in this blog post. This is the only place they'll be available. I'll post them in chronological order, so everyone can see the evolution!

I know some people (all three of you) might be disappointed they'll never be able to play that version of the game, but I hope everyone can trust me when I say the revamp will be superior in every way possible.

I've learned a lot about script-writing and design over the years, and I'm glad to put those lessons to use with a bit of a "blank canvas", if you will. The wonderful team I've accumulated have added their talents, expanded the vision past anything I could hope to do on my own.

Early RMN Era Images

The earliest major demo of BR that I released was back in 2008-2009.

At the time, I was still an extreme novice with Rm2k3, so most of the design choices were questionable at best (..and at worst, downright awful).

I had a lot of ambition, but zero idea how to actually create a game. Nonetheless, I learned quite a lot from how game was received - the reviews and comments were notoriously polarized.

Post-Hiatus Revival (2015-17)

Late in 2009, I suffered a pretty severe hard-drive failure, which lost nearly ten month's work of progress. Out of frustration, I effectively cancelled BR as I began my first year of college, putting it out of my mind.

It wasn't until nearly 7 years later that I was able to recover the files (little did I know a friend had the folder saved), and with the legalization of Rm2k3, I was spurred to start work on it again.

For better or worse, I only shared that version with about ten people, all of whom were from RMN.

Yeahhh I dunno. I've kind of moved on from the scene for the time being, sad to say. I have a version of the game that's been worked on since I last put something out, but I'm not sure when I'll have enough free time available to finalize it. I'll try to keep you posted. 8[
That's sad to hear. Yeah, heard you moved on from this scene. It just looks really beautiful. Hope it sees the light someday!

And am glad to hear that you have restarted the production.

But if you have, can you re-upload the old version?

@Blindmind: Aww, it's pretty sad but I understand; sometimes one have to move on.
But I hope that one day you will see the game to completion.

@benos: Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
I can vaguely recall rushing home from high school to open up the editor and brainstorm new concepts...

lol rpgmaker
i have played the demo and its awesome ... althought the intro was not so encouraging at first but man i got to say this a very well made game the graphics and the story going 4.5/5 :D
But i got to ask does this game got along road to go until its released ?
On your successful KickStarter :).
Hm... the title reminds me the Bioshock series. The character named Aiden reminds me Beyond Two Souls. The graphics is very well. It worths a try if not more.
Wai- Wait... Is it really have the number 8? I-I mean in the url! http://rpgmaker.net/games/8 It's not fair! That's a beautiful number...
Yeah. ;p It was one of the first projects posted on this website. The title was announced even before Bioshock came out, if you can believe it. Thank you for your comment though Zach! ~^-^~
