At long last, our campaign is live! :D

View it here!

I've also finally wrapped up our first full trailer of the remaster, which you can watch below.

It's been a long and arduous road over the past 12-15 months of remastering Beloved Rapture as a commercial title - and of course the journey is far from over. It's been unbelievably humbling and rewarding. I've held off on over-posting here at RMN, as quite a lot of the game had to be rebuilt from the ground-up, and that took considerable time.

While I initially thought I could simply "swap out" the tiles from the old version, my team collectively made the decision that we should give it our very best effort, so over 80% of the content has been created from scratch. I wanted to take everything I've learned over the past ten years - not just RPGMaker familiarity, but my developing skill as a writer - and put it to its best use.

I've dipped my toes into the wider Indie world while attempting to market the game, and that in itself has been awesome to experience as well. More passion (and competition) than I ever could have imagined.

If you can, help me spread the word! It's been my dream for a long time to not only create a full commercial game with Rm2k3, but a prove that it was possible to design one with entirely original graphics and music. And we seem to finally be moving steadily along that path.

I've gone ahead and removed all of the old screenshots from the game, to avoid any confusion for new players.

A few people I want to thank as well!
  • Chuck Simpson (Tardis) for the game's logo, concept sketches, and various pixel commissions.
  • Willy B for his pixel art contribution.
  • Becca Bair for her contribution.
  • BadLuck of Stegosoft Games for being a good friend and mentor to me.
  • #MeridianDance IRC / Discord channel.
  • RPGMaker.net staff.
  • Kentona for just being awesome.
  • Jordan Chin for his interest in BR and willingness to collaborate on music.
  • Brandon Abley for his involvement.
  • Lily Croffi for supporting my vision since the very beginning, and for her wonderful character designs that endure in the project to this day.
  • Yioshka for her wonderful new art.
  • Joseph Seraph for moral support, and for contributing superb spell animations.
  • Vagrant Pixels for the astonishing portrait work.
  • Tau for mapping assistance.
  • Lian Wu for the Chibi artwork.
  • DragonHeartMan for his support over more than a decade.
  • Dethmetal, Little Wing Guy, Ciel, Giznaps, Dyhalto for past beta-testing.
  • LordBlueRouge for being an enduring friend to me, and for his boundless (and often inexplicable) enthusiasm for making Beloved Rapture the best it can be. Through his immaculate beta-testing and script re-writes, LBR persuaded me to go full-indie with BR, and for that I am forever grateful.

Right on!

(...but since when have I been awesome?)
Backed! Good luck!
I'll back this when I get paid. Won't be much but every little bit counts, right! So looking forward to playing it when you're doing. It's looking brill~<3
This looks amazing. You've got my (admittedly very small) backing.

Good luck!
It's cool to see so much new passion for a project, which could be released several times but you have always found a way to take it in a new, more perfectionist direction. I honestly believe the result will be worth it.
@Blind

It's always cool to see a project make the jump to commercial. I've done a little bit of signal-boosting to my gaming friends and I will try to bring up the kickstarter whenever the rules of conversation reasonably allow.

I've worked on a handful of kickstarters before, so if you'd like feedback on the project page/levels/goals, or if you've got fliers people can put up, or if you'd want in-universe short fiction for some reason, gimme a shout.
Thanks everyone!

The amount I've support I've received so far from RMN has been amazing.

So glad you see it that way! If anything, the freeware/old version was a very prolonged practice run for what we're now working on. I'm increasingly confident it'll have been worth the wait!
Thanks for the support, everyone! We raised nearly 15% of our goal for the game during the first 36 hours - not bad at all!
Congrats to the fine start with the kickstarter.
I says like Liberty, as soon the money comes in at least some will come to this wonderful project.
This looks like my type of game. Beautiful looking maps and character design. And I must say... I don't tend to find myself attracted to video game characters often, but wow. The two main characters look gooooood ;-P
Hmmm... what kind of shabby NPC and immersion-breaking monster will I insist you shoehorn into your life's work?

Lmao. Yes, I think they’ve reached full bishie status.
I can't support with money but I could beta test it for you or translate to German.
Already backed and pledged my friend, I know you've come a loong way with many endeavors, this is the time for the fruits of labor to ripen and shine! You got all my support :)

PS: Firefly84 is an amazing video game tester and does not overlook the details!

I’ll definitely take you up on that! And I can even compensate you if we meet our funding. Actually, a translation to German and French is our first stretch goal. :)
