Everyone knows the story of Final Fantasy IV by now. Yet, I've always wondered what if things had gone a different way? What if, say, Rydia had never joined your party? Or Kain had stayed with you after the incident in Mist? These questions and more are what this game explores, and tries to give a definitive answer to.

This is not a scene-by-scene remake, but rather a re-imagining of what I think a "parallel dimension" Final Fantasy IV would have played like. For the graphics, I took a lot of inspiration from the PSP remake, though I did try to up the quality of the graphics at least a little bit (especially using Celianna's tilesets which are amazing). Most of the tracks from the original game have been replaced with remastered/remixed tracks from all over the internet, such as OCRemix, the DS version, Dissidia, and many Youtube artists.

I'd like to note here that I went for a blending of several prior versions of the game in terms of the actual 'feel' of the game. Such as the title screen, I went for the classic U.S. release on SNES and just upped the graphics as much as I could. Other areas will have more of a SNES feel while others will reference the PSP and even DS versions at times. The maps themselves are similar to, but not exact, replicas of the original maps from the SNES version. Dialogue is going to be a mix of the Gameboy Advance translation with original story by me.

Lastly, a huge shutout and thank you to the dev of Legend of Balance. Your game was an inspiration and tremendous guide for me, and it's awesome.

IMPORTANT - If you come up with an error stating that you are missing the xinput1_3.dll then you will need the following (safe download from Microsoft's site) DirectX Jun2010

**Do NOT enter the Moon's caves post-game or else you will glitch your game!**

Reverted the build to a previous one (in which there were no significant issues save for the lag on the Overworld). My apologies for the inconvenience, but it seems that trying to fix the lag present only caused more issues.

Features:

- Random Encounter Radar System
- You may go to fullscreen by pressing ALT + Enter
- Battle Rows similar to the original game
- Classic side-view Final Fantasy-type battle system (Modified Journey Battle System)

- 15 to 30 hours of gameplay
- Battle Difficulty options
- Enemy HP Bars (they're visible when an attack is made)
- D-Pad functionality on Gamepads
- New "Lunar Expanse" bonus area (Boss rush dungeon)
- New "hidden" Arena

Lag Killer & New Download

Hi peoples!

Got a pretty big update, and it's that I think I somewhat killed the L-A-G present on the Overworld (especially in late game). I've also fixed up a few passabilities in some areas, and I believe I fixed the whole post-game bug-whenever-entering-moon-caves-thingie. I've posted a new download for the game with these new updates (Google Drive) so I hope you'll take advantage. Oh, and you'll want to start a new save for the game after downloading this updated version. Old saves will work, but they'll be all wonky when going back and forth between Overworld and towns/dungeons.

Here's hoping the game performs better, and thank you all for your support! =)

Ah, bit of a shame - I usually only keep singular saves. Guess it's back to the beginning for me. In any case, it was a very, very good game. I had a TON of fun playing through it. Though, I AM curious - why are many of these places locked out after completing the game? Is there some sort of coding issue, or...?

It is a coding issue. Some of the places after endgame have conflicting event coding that would cause some pretty bad glitches, so it was necessary to lock them out. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! =)

Just beat the main game a couple hours ago - however, is the Troia Castle Infirmary quest missable? Since I beat the game, the castle in inaccessible... have I missed my chance to get Materia?
Congrats on beating it! I hope you enjoyed it. =) As for the Troia Castle Infirmary quest, unfortunately you did miss your chance to get it. However, you can still access the hidden Arena. If you have a save before you beat the game, I'd suggest finding and beating the hidden Arena, then visiting Troia Castle, and you'll get the Materia.

Weird, I found some boss images in the Battlers folder that I didn't see in the game, even after the Lunar Expanse. Did I miss something? Or were they taken out?

Some were taken out, others just not used since I had too many to begin with. I had an idea for a final boss other than the one used in-game, but it didn't fit with the overall theme. Good luck on the Lunar Expanse! It's basically a boss rush, and not an easy one at that. There's a special hidden Arena in the game as well, if you haven't done that yet. Hint - you need to buy something located on Earth that gives you 'permission' to get there.

Travel to the area where the Adamant Grotto was in the original game (on a tiny island set amidst a row of islands south of Fabul).

Strange, I couldn't seem to remember where it was.

Well, finished the game, gonna check out the Lunar Expanse, see if I can't get Excalibur while I'm at it, since Cecil does underwhelming damage compared to everyone else.

I can't seem to find this mine that holds the adamantite. I read about this "mine" on a Livejournal page but there's no reference to which mine or where it is.

Thanks for listening and helping out! I'm greatly enjoying it so far.

Most welcome! Let me know when you beat it. I'd love to hear your thoughts about the game. =D

Glad to hear you figured out the paralysis thing. And the save point issue I believe is an inherent problem with the script itself, but I'm not sure. I didn't know about the still talking to invisible prisoners issue, so next update (when I do post it up) it'll be addressed. Thanks for the feedback! =)

That's... odd. It's either a weird bug you're running into, or something is still equipped that is causing that to happen. Have you tried unequipping everything, and then re-equipping each piece and seeing which item(s) are causing the paralysis?
Yep, took everything off everyone and they're still paralyzed.

EDIT: Left the dungeon and healed up, then equipped ONLY the stuff that was available in the Troia stores. No paralysis this time. Seems even the silver armlets affect them this time. And once they're paralyzed, it sticks until you heal it, regardless of whether you took the gear off or not. But anyway, I was able to complete the dungeon just now.

Two other odd bugs I found:
When you step on the "save point" and try to use something like a tent, it doesn't register that you're on the save point. It usually takes me two tries to get it. And if you accidentally look at weapons or key items, you have to step back on the spot again to use a tent.

When you return to Baron for the first time to get the airship, there's no visible prisoners in the jail below, but you can still talk to them.

That's what I'm referring to. I bought everything from there and equipped it, and they're still paralyzed.

The weapon and armor shops in Troia is what you'll be able to use to get through the Lodestone Cavern. I hope you're enjoying the game, and good luck! =D

I can't figure out how to get through the Lodestone Cavern. It seems the old strategy of putting on Wooden Clubs and Sage's Surplices doesn't work this time around.

I found two bugs that I don't think have been fixed on 3.0 but I could be wrong and my game didn't update properly.....
I notice after you beat the game, you land your airship, and when you go into the area that leads to the final in-game story dungeon, if you come back out, the airship will disappear. You have to beat the story-line last boss to have access to it again.
In the special dungeon, on floor 7, it's not letting me go back. I need to buy more tents but due to the "jumps," it's not letting me jump back so I can climb down the tower so I can buy tents.

The first bug still needs to be corrected (honestly my schedule has been very hectic lately my apologies on that), but as was stated in the message at endgame that there are places that the player won't be able to return to, such as the final dungeon (if you take the Lunar Whale and fly toward the Crystal Palace you'll see there's no cave mouth there post-game).

As for the special dungeon, that's actually not a glitch but a purposeful "no turning back" type deal. Once you get that far, you can't turn back. Hopefully you made multiple saves so you can stock up before heading further up the tower. =) Thanks for the feedback! I hope you enjoyed the game!

So Not sure if its just oversensitive antivirus on my part(I had someone with the same antivirus, different machine try and they got same results) but when I try to download the game from any location (gamejolt, google drive) it flags it as a trojan, and of course prevents its Downloading. I couldn't find anyone else having the issue, but I'd just like to check first to be sure. My antivirus is Comodo in case its relevant info.
anyway thanks for your time, looking forward to playing this game and more so looking forward to seeing how the Xenogears remake your doing unravels^^
Yeah the files are definitely clean. I have AVG on my system and no problems. Haven't heard of anyone else reporting this, so it must be that Comodo just doesn't like downloading exe files for some reason. Definitely a false positive. Thanks for the info though.

I was thinking that myself ya, and thanks again^^
