Veil of Absolution

This iswas our entry for McBaconJam #2 by
"procrastinating until the last day of the event" team. (We didn't actually procrastinate until the last day of the event)

Story:
Four losers do things.
Most of the planet’s population has been annihilated by this unknown calamity, and now no one is left to remember what actually happened. All that left of this ruined world is a single tower, erected at the center of the last remaining mass of land. One that’s slowly sinking into the ever encroaching ocean.

A small handful of survivors approach this tower, the lone bastion of salvation left on the entire planet, to figure out just what happened. And to see if maybe there’s a way to revive this planet on the brink of death. And if not, then to find some small measure of solace before the end.
