Generic RM2k3 RTP Gaming Fun!

I always wanted to make that game based on everything I enjoyed as a kid. This is the end result.



Hero's Realm creates a super-synergy of proactive features to create a gaming experience greater than the sum of its parts.


Lead four heroes and their teams against the evil forces of Mephistocles, the Lord of Demons in this retro-RPG adventure. Toggle between the four heroes as you explore dungeons, ascend towers, spelunk caves, save villages and defeat the forces of evil! Reminiscent of classic RPGs such as Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy V, Hero's Realm is a fun romp in old-school RPG nostalgia.


-22 character classes (12 base classes, 4 hero classes, 3 secret classes, 3 master classes)
-TONS of game content and sidequests
-Classic NES-era and SNES-era RPG gameplay
-Great music
-Multi-party switching system (like Kefka's Tower in FFVI!)
-Multi-party tactical battles (at least 5 of them!)
-Massive world map
-Fun


The story is split into 5 chapters, with each of the first four chapters focusing on a new hero, and the 5th chapter bringing them all together.

After playing some of the older FF games, I've really been enjoying myself with Hero's Realm!

I have one burning question, though: where did you get the main battle theme from? I've heard it before a looooong time ago, and I can't remember where! GAH!

EDIT: Oh my God. I found it. I had an ancient, early-2000s DarkBASIC CD laying around, and I found "MyFFBatt" in the media folder!
Why I can't get through the shadow in Cidney after I get recipe of airship ballon from grundo manor??
Is that can be fix?? because if I start over,maybe that will be wasted my played time before. So,please tell me how to fix it without start over the game.
hrmm... you should be able to fix it yourself by visiting Bombomb and trying to go into the river or go onto the rooftops there. If not, upload your savefile to RMN and let me know and I can go in and fix it for you.

But then I would feel obligated to fix the bugs and glaring balance issues, too, and I am not up for that.
Thanks for a solution. I can continue again to play it until finish. This game is really awesome. Hope there will be the second series.
Umm i recently just beated chap 1 and i got this party bug (searching 35 pages for solution is too much :/)

After the intro of Chapter 2, i tried to create party members yet they doesn't show up at menu, battle, etc. Tried everything like going into some battles, resting, class reset+rename, etc doesn't solve the problem. However, when i tried to talk to the Registrar he assumes i already have 4 people despite i only have "one" (he offers class reset instead yet it still doesn't solve the problem)

Here is my save file...anyone knows how to fix this or...should i start a new game?

I haven't forgotten about your issue! (well, I sort of forgot about it but then remembered). I just haven't had the time to investigate it. Sorry! Are you still playing?
Yeah and already reached chap 3 (so many games to play!) after restarting chap 2 twice (still got the bug on 2nd attempt for chap 2)

I noticed what causes this is when i tried to create a character, you cannot cancel it (if you choose "whatever.." the npc still assumes you choosed the male one)

Some people hear only what they want to hear...
Dunno if this already mentioned in previous pages but...I got this bug where ingame bgm suddenly gone and the game closes itself, deleting the current save i used.
Currently in chap 4 but i decided to backtrack in chap 3 earlier because i want that Lightsabre so i can't miss any single medals. Can i still get tiny medals in previous chapters?
for the one who asked about the bug where music stops and save disapear, yes its a bug in the engine and its in the FAQ... it says to save often and on multiple slots...

Im currently playing the game... started last week... now in chapter 5 just got the 1st piece after the giant at the begining... i was reading this whole thread to figure out tips about class changes (im at page 9 in 2010 when the game was 1yr old) hehe...

Just wanted to come on here and say that you REALLY did make a complete masterpiece!! This game is insane... so huge... tons of stuff, mini games, high quality graphics... tons of references to so many great titles... the music selection is incredible as well... i would have wished for a orchestral mp3 version instead of midi... but it still sound and feels pretty good! I really wasnt expecting such huge complex games were possible with this engine... the number of mechanics you have going on all at once is just crazy!

I would have liked an ingame portable map (other than the scrying in paramor) *perhaps its comming idk*... other than that, i dont have much negative to say... its such an incredible game... when chapter 5 started i was a bit discouraged having to manage equipments for 4 full party... and was wondering if i'd have to grind all 4 separately.. fortunately they get exp... not sure how much but at least they wont fall too far behind...

I also really wished you had kept a better music selection list... there are a few i dont know where they come from that i'd REALLY like to find out the originals... i found many E.V.O. which are awesome... tons of Square material obviously... im checking the music folder but even the song names dont say much! :)

ANYWAY i'll stop writing... i have this issue i write too much, since i type about 100w.m. ... i always end up rambling my what i think at that moment... your game is AWESOME!! incredibly better than most of what Square has put up ... EVER... :)

and I am here to tell you there IS a map you can get that you can take with you!

the Dread Pirate Roberts has such a map, but you have to bring him 10 (or was it 20?) Buttercup squash (which is only found growing in Tortuga). You can find Roberts in the pirate town in Jomungu. You need a ship to get to either place, though.

would you happen to remember what song for the overworld music in chapter 5? (little harp song)... curious where it comes from :)

Next one i'd like to find out would be world map from another chapter... in the music folder simply called "world.mid"... no other info... that one might be harder to find out...
Just great! I just broke my game!! LOL... fortunately i had a save about 5mins ago so i could reload it...

I just got the magic/master key... started going around unlocking doors and grabbing chests... I got both the demonslayer and malice sword... which i expected to be cursed (game is missing the sound file when trying to unequip it! but i guess it might not have been possible)... anyway, i equipped both of them on my Ronin as weapons1 and weapon2 slots... HOWEVER, when i wanted to remove them, the un-curse at church only remove the 1st weapon and not the 2nd slot one!! so i was stuck with one of them (forever)... hehe... alt+f4 and reload fixed it since i had not saved... FORTUNATELY... :)
Damn. That probably never occurred to me when I was coding that part of the game, so it is not surprising that a cursed weapon in a second slot for a Ronin is stuck. good find (or is it a bad find?).

If you are wanting to find out the source of some of the tunes, try posting them in the forum asking "I got this midi from Hero's Realm- does anyone know the source song?"
