Generic RM2k3 RTP Gaming Fun!

I always wanted to make that game based on everything I enjoyed as a kid. This is the end result.

Hero's Realm creates a super-synergy of proactive features to create a gaming experience greater than the sum of its parts.

Lead four heroes and their teams against the evil forces of Mephistocles, the Lord of Demons in this retro-RPG adventure. Toggle between the four heroes as you explore dungeons, ascend towers, spelunk caves, save villages and defeat the forces of evil! Reminiscent of classic RPGs such as Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy V, Hero's Realm is a fun romp in old-school RPG nostalgia.

-22 character classes (12 base classes, 4 hero classes, 3 secret classes, 3 master classes)
-TONS of game content and sidequests
-Classic NES-era and SNES-era RPG gameplay
-Great music
-Multi-party switching system (like Kefka's Tower in FFVI!)
-Multi-party tactical battles (at least 5 of them!)
-Massive world map
-Fun

The story is split into 5 chapters, with each of the first four chapters focusing on a new hero, and the 5th chapter bringing them all together.

Chapter 1: Won't Somebody Please Think of the Children?
Chapter 2: There is Something Fishy Going on...
Chapter 3: Land of the Rising Son
Chapter 4: True Calling
Chapter 5: The War on Terror

good idea for the music! :)

im nearly at shelob... i turned 5 characters to jokers to get them to lvl 20 and get daredevils... hehe... should be interesting in a while ;) if i survive that long...

the only thing i dislike about "rpg maker games" in general is some of the bugs that are not-fixable... one of them being the battle type... if you get a fight "back attack" its all good... but if you get a pincer or the one where you have the monsters all in the middle, you shouldnt hit at 1/2 damage and miss 50% of the time! this frustrate me so bad!!... getting a monsters in pincer attack is supposed to be good... yet i usually end up running cause its frustrating missing 3 times out of 5... FF.Blackmoon also made in RPG maker had the same issue... so its either the engine OR the ATB plugin used...

Finally,
You should DEFINITELY package "anotherfullscreenmode.exe" along with the game!... it makes it 100 times better to get fullscreen (F6) and the most AWESOME part is the screen filtering Scale2x and HQ2X like in emulators! (F8)... I have played in this mode since the begining and it makes the game really more beautiful!! although a bit more blured but you get used to it! :)
I don't even know what that fullscreenmode thing is, tbh!

yeah, the non-fixable bugs in the engine are a PAIN in the ass. Like the pincer to-hit bug you mentioned, and also the ATB "lockup" bug where all of the ATB bars freeze except for 1 persons and then suddenly EVERYONE ACTS AT ONCE. Very annoying.

One day I will port this over to RM VX Ace and charge $7.99 for it
seriously i would consider it... haha... having worked in the game industry for about 10 years (went from EA to Funcom to Square/Eidos)... of course you'd kinda need all new assets and music... but compared to what goes out on the steam store, this would be awesome! I tried starting my own game in VX Ace a bit less than a year ago... i had all the basics done, mechanics, scripts... but i ran out of money to "live" so i had to work instead of working on that... :) If you ever want to form an alliance im more than willing to help make the port! :) ... i'll send you a link to the full screen mode on FB right away! :)

Just thought i'd share it here as well!

If anyone is playing this game, OR any RPGmaker2003, this tool was made by "Cherry" from www.cherrytree.at... i dont know what makes it work or not in some games... except being RPGmaker2k3... anyway i got this from Final Fantasy Blackmoon prophecy (really awesome rpg maker game)... and so far it works with "Helion", "Chrono Alter", "Phantom Legacy", and "Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy Plus"... you simply start the game (window mode), then double click this exe... it will enable fullscreen but without changing monitor resolution... so if you play in 1920x1080, you can keep that resolution and it will simply scale the game to fullscreen... never use alt+tab or alt+enter if you wish to go back to another app... simply press F6 to toggle from fullscreen to window back and forth... Also pressing F8 will apply a very nice screen filtering... :)

here is the link i uploaded for the tool :

I would totally replay this if it had the fast ATB gauges.
But then I would feel obligated to fix the bugs and glaring balance issues, too, and I am not up for that which is fine because I'm completely revamping the game for another release
NICE!

I KNEW IT
Question of the day :)

What is it with Nonomi and Yasuki? is there something im missing?
Im exploring the map with the ship now (got both)... when i went up the tower, she attacked me, i 1 shot her... felt bad about it and reloaded... eventually i was getting all 3 stones in marx area i saw a ghost ship, so i hopped on my boat and chased it... in there i eventually killed Yasuki... i obviously figured they were both linked... but wasnt able to do anything but kill him... after killing him i went to check on nonomi as well... same thing as before... is there something im missing? or is it just a sad love story that didnt really end well? :)
it's just a sad story.
another quick question : what would be a "good" way to make some money? Having 16 people to care for... and now with 4 daredevils... thats a LOT of weapons to buy... i end up equipping one group and letting all 3 others pretty much using old stuff... :)
That is a good question. I am not sure if I did make a good spot (or if I did, I've forgotten where I put it). You can sell unused equipment, and the Diamond Bikini (which is worth a ton).
i got it indeed... i didnt want to sell it if it was important or if it had any secret to it... but since you tell me to sell it i guess thats its use :)

but its still not worth "a ton" really... only a about 25 thousands... considering stuff where i am at cost about 10k each... its only good to equip 1 of 16 characters :P ... so i still need a place to farm MUCH more gold if i want to be strong... :)

CORECTION/EDIT : the diamond bikini was actually 39k... but im still about 160k short!!! LOL... and farming takes forever!! are there some goldmen or something? i saw metal earlier that i wasnt able to kill... are they only exp? is there gold version somewhere? :) hehe... Thx for your time!
There are a couple of peninsula only accessible by boat that have Royal and Golden Peeps, worth lots of gold. The first is just east of Remus, the second is just south of the Hasara desert on the south side of the mountains. Again, only accessible by boat. The Ozland desert also has some gold-rich enemies, but they are tough.
awesome thx for the answer i'll check thoses out! :) trying to get the airship now... is there a way to know total play time? or was that a module you didnt put in the game? :) -- and while im writing, is there some kind of no encounter item or equipment when on foot? i got one for the boat but not in dungeons/world.map :)
no, I didn't put in any item that reduces encounter rate on land. Sorry. Also, I didn't track total playtime - which is too bad, because some people have played this game A LOT and I would be curious to know...
haha i wasnt expecting such a quick reply... i was gonna edit my post for a 3rd time to ask one last question (for today at least) lol... i know there are 4 elfstone spots... 3 are fixed and 1 is random... i read about that a few weeks ago... BUT im trying to figure out WHERE... so that i know which spot has which color and which is the variable one (and how to get each color) :)
Q: Where and how I can get all of the elfstones?
A: They are only available in chapter 5. There is a divination room in Arborlon that gives hints as to the locations of the elfstones.

But here they are anyway:
1. In the Pit of Peril (visible in Chapter 1) - on an island just west of Norsland. There is a separate teleportal room in the Norsland Shrine locked by a magic door. After getting the Magic key, use the teleportal to get to the island. (Green)

2. In the Badon Crypt (visible in Chapter 2) - in the abandoned village of Badon in the southeast tip of the desert there is a stone building locked by a magic door. After getting the Magic key, open the door and enter the crypt. (Red)

3. At the peak of Mt. Neverest (visible in Chapter 3) - at the giant mountain near Okasa there is a large wall with a magic door. After getting the Magic key and sailing to Jomongu with the ship, open the door and ascend the mountain. (Blue)

4. Atop the Tower on the Lake (visible in Chapter 4) - in the center of the lake near Bombomb, there is an island with a tower on it. After getting the airship, pilot it to the island and ascend the tower.
(Akira gets a Green one)
(Holdana gets a Blue one)
(Zefiryn gets a Red one)
(Raj Ahtan gets a random one)
yeah i had found that part in the FAQ... but the colors were not in there! :) hehe...

AWESOME! thanks a lot!! :) now i just need to remember who was who... lol... Holdana is 1st chapter... I named them as their FF name counterpart... Rydia, Edge, Yang :) didnt use Faris for the 1st one though... picked my own name... but since its a blue one i'll be needing (already got like 7 daredevil total) i know who to pick!! thanks again! :)
Hi again! :) -- making a new post since its been a few days since the last one...

I got the airship! yééé! ;) .. and now im exploring a bit before going for the final 2... since the "walkthrough" page seems to indicate that as soon as we get the final 6, we go back to paramoor and end the game... i want to keep playing a bit more before ending it... so trying to find secrets...

I am now in the "past/future" ruins... but cant seem to find the keycard to progress... any suggestion? :)
In the ruins on Tundraca, there is a ladder up to a small section of roof in the middle of the facility. The keycard is in a chest there, iirc. But I can't remember off the top of my head exactly where.

This keycard will then allow you to open up the compound on the island of Catan and explore.
thank you so much for still being here answering questions after all theses years! :)

possibly a final question... i went and killed muzhor before going to the facility in tundraca... (so before going to catan compound as well)... yet the events at paramoor started when i got my 5th artefact... should i still go grab the 6th one and do the ruins of catan or do paramoor first? (ie : is there multiple endings, should i keep a separate save file, etc.)? :)

ALSO, im currently doing tundraca ruins... one of the puzzle "seems" wrong...
(SPOILERS should anyone come see this in the future)
213 - 426 - 639 - 1065
213x2 = 426
426+213 = 639
639+426 = 1065
1065+639 = 1704 and this doesnt work! :)
I wonder if I got the math wrong - it's entirely possible. I'd have to look again. Are you sure you are following the proper order of operations? PEDMAS

Well... I do own and operate the site now, so I ought to be around!

I would keep a separate save file anyway, but things should be fine if you go and do the Tundraca quest. I would do Tundraca first because I *think* there is an artifact there for the Child of Light, and what items she gets depends on what artifacts you've collected. And for completeness, I would do Tundraca first - that was my intention for the player.
